Little questions & answers thread

Is it just me or did they not fix/put back in the 'last built' notification when the city production screen pops up? Or am I just not seeing it...
I don’t ever remember such a thing existing. It’s possible it was in one of the PC patches and was not released on Console (I’m on Xbox Series X). But I have never seen a notification in Civ7 on what a city has produced, in spite of the fact that it’s a really obvious and useful thing to have. Are you sure this wasn’t a mod?

It was a feature in every previous Civ, but bizarrely absent from 7 on release or the first patch. I assumed it would have been in this one, but unless I'm looking in the wrong place, they've managed to leave it out again

Ah, I assumed your “fix/ put back “ was referring to the Civ7 not Civ6 and earlier . Definitely a strange thing to miss. Yeah got to think aren’t the play testers and the designers themselves when they’re playing the game thinking “it’s really annoying I can’t tell what I just built, let’s get this in.”

I just got a third Narrative; Activate Determined Ability on Commanders with no other option so I had to take it.
Playing with Amina, I got the event "For the Warrior Queen" right at the beginning of the exploration age - with one choice being that "Activate Determined Ability on Commanders":

I tried that choice after saving before, but didn't notice any (visible) change (playing with German language the translation tricked me into thinking it would have to do something with the "Resolute" commander ability as it is "Entschlossen" in both cases, but that theory doesn't fly with English language obviously).

At least I wasn't forced here into taking something unclear/non-working, as the first choice just provided me just with a free commander update. Still it would be nice to now if something is buggy here or if we just don't see the effect.

Does anybody know why the building requirements for Bazaar and Market might be different?

It wouldn't let me build a market at this position in antiquity, but had no problem with a bazaar in exploration.

No changes to anything else, wonders are Hanging Gardens and Nalada to W and SW, and Garden NE of capital

Probably didn't have urban district adjacency yet in Antiquity. Wonders can extend urban district adjacency, but they don't create it.

I'm currently playing as Hatshepsut, looking to transition from Khmer to Shawnee. The game is not giving me an option to change my capital. Does anyone know what's going on? I had 6 settlements in Antiquity, and all of them were cities. Most of them have fishing quays, too, if that matters.

Are they on the same continent as the current capital and have a city connection typically created by road or by coastal connection?

Can the AI see the map? After using my search feature on my scout I see their scout heading straight for 2 goodie huts in a row. It's possible they have the same memento I have. Can the AI's use mementos? It's possible they are just using the regular search, but it still seems suspicious the straight path they are taking to 2 consecutive goodie huts.

I assume that the AI almost always cheats to some degree when it comes to fog of war, as that's a pretty difficult algorithmic problem to solve. When at war, try leaving a settlement unguarded and see how quickly an enemy force magically appears to threaten it.

My experience is that it seems like the Civ 5 system. Once you can see it, they can see it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the AI have pretty good view of the map anyway via scouts considering how many of them I always encounter.

AI often misses goody huts right near their borders, so I believe they do have real visibility.

Also, I believe AI aiming undefended cities despite fog of war was last seen in Civ3, where it could be use to manipulate AI armies, forcing them to move back and forth.

Hey guys, my question is how to capture the opponent's capital if it's their last city?
Just as any other city. Put a unit on the tile with the palace. If there are fortified districts, you need to destroy the walls and move a units there to capture it as well. You don't need to station a unit there though. The Dur-Sharrukin wonder also counts as a fortified district and needs to be captured after you destroy its fortification.

Bulgaria question, reference Krums Dynasty.

When pillaging, the food only seems to be going to towns with the Growing focus. No population growth in my specialized towns. Does that mean it's being wasted or is it being pushed from the specialized towns to their connected cities?

Easily tested. Which, based on what we have seen from Firaxis so far means it probably wasn't tested and is broken.

Save game. Shift-enter. Check progress on city growth.
Load game. Pillage. Shift-enter. Check progress on city growth to see if it advanced more than without pillage.
