Little questions & answers thread

Is everyone else getting the happiness crisis the most in antiquity? I still haven’t gotten the barbarian crisis (does it even still exist?), and the antiquity plague is a welcome reprieve the few times when it arrives.
I've got a really strong feeling that what crisis comes up depends on how you've been playing - I always seem to get barbarians on the militaristic-heavy ones and happiness when I'm struggling with that.
Or could just be random and really bad luck!

I'm on my 4th game. Last night I had the Barbarian crisis and I think that I had it in my first game.
More importantly, in my current game I sought out hostile IPs to put some experience on my army commander.
I dispersed two hostile camps and became suzerain of a friendly one. I declared war once and was declared upon once.
My guess is that dispersing hostile IP -- maybe even just a lot of combat -- increases the chances of the Barb crisis.

I just played antiquity of the 2nd game of the month and it seems like everyone who played all got the same crisis so I think the crisis is determined with map gen.

Is it normal that I have to agree to the "terms of use" from 2K after EVERY single game when returning to the main menu after the game has ended? And sometimes the big window with the terms cannot be closed and the game crashes.

I'm finding I can't convert city-states to my religion on my current save; this is the first time I've ever tried as far as I can remember. Whenever I move my missionary to a city-state, the "spread religion" button is greyed out and the mouseover says "Spread Religion cannot be used on a settlement that is being razed". This must be a bug, right?

It has to be a suzerained IP, so turned into a city-state. if you're trying on a simple IP, it won't work

Are you sure? From my experience, it seems like the second future tech costs around 3x the first? I don't have any numbers to back it up, it's just my subjective experience in the past games without taking notes.

Casa consistorial can only be built in tiles adjacent to coast.

Casa Contratacion cannot be built in distant lands !
OHH Kay! This happened in my first game, I thought it was a bug, I managed to finish maybe 3 quarters. Then I couldn't seem to pair them anymore.
They should really have a super highlight that shows, you can place this here BUT the other one won't go there.

While I agree we need more info on buildings, for this particular problem I'd prefer just the requirements for unique buildings to match.

Maybe developers had an idea that building only one of them is viable, but since they are also ageless and can't be overbuilt, I wouldn't consider it.

Bought an archer here - the game put it on a random district with an altar NEXT TO MACHIAVELLIS TERCIO? There's one with a wall right there.
🙀

Is there a rule for this I'm missing or is this simply a semi-bug? [Edit - removed unnecessary snark] ;)

If you have a military unit in your central squire and no dedicated building marked as spawn point (i.e. barracks), or if tiles with such buildings are also occupied, I believe your unit spawns in random urban district.

It's not a bug, it's actually being razed. The AI loves to raze your city-states.
