'Your abilities do not benefit from settling in this biome' when looking at locations for settling cities.

genuinely never noticed it saying this before, playing as Trunc Trac and Rome. what does it mean? sorry if im being thick.

and a wee moan, its great that legatus gives a free city every 3 promotions, but I wish I could see the recommendations for where to settle, like you get with a settler.

Trung Trac benefits from cities settled on Tropical tiles. Those tiles must not be Tropical.

Does anyone know if the new continuity mod allows you to keep all of your units in the age transitions regardless of how many army commanders you have?

Can't say for sure, but I just ended ancient age tonight with Carthage and had 2x army commanders and at least 12-15 units at the end. And I kept all. Even with one of the army commanders killed two turns before the end of the age. (It reappeared in my capital start of next age)

The update notes mention "You will no longer get Advisor Warnings for large armies". I assume that means losing units is no longer a mechanic.

EDIT: Then again.... in the settings it's described as "most units" transfer to next age.....

As merchants no longer require the research of a civic or tech except for in the the antiquity age, does this also apply to their unique variants? I'm assuming it does but haven't had an oportunity to check.

How come I sometimes can't raze settlements I capture? Of course the game doesn't explain it... :hmm:

I don't know... Is there a way to check?
I think in the religion tab?

Else, I have found that settlements offered in peace can be razed, but not those you actively ask for in peace negotiations.

You're right, Religion tab explains it (I browsed through all the city info pages without seeing anything):

Thank you!

Same here, and it's really bugging me! I then end up having to conquer the settlement instead, and then razing it.

I believe that means most kinds of units will persist, since some (missionaries, great people, treasure fleets, etc) will not exist in the next age

Is there a way to see the source of the happiness deductions?

My capital went from:
- Last turn of exploration: 10.6 happiness (-68.8 deductions)
- First turn of modern: -28.8 happiness (-60.8 deductions)
- First turn of modern after switching capital: -29.3 happiness (-58.3 deductions)

I went into the building list and manually counted the unhappiness caused by buildings, which came to 46 total. Where are the other 12.3 deductions coming from? :hmm:

I don't think there is a breakdown of those deductions (and there really should be). In your case, my guess would be specialists.

I wonder whether late game diplomacy got a stealth change in the latest patch. I've played two games now, and in both the Modern era was a constant world war. The war was actually so intense for the computer-led factions (all of them) that they made basically no progress to any legacy path until the end of the game. But two artifacts at max, no tech milestones, no factory points, a few ideology points here and there. They also all declared war on me within 3 turns, so I assume there is a dogpile on the winner system in place? I'm curious to hear others impressions if something changed. Sovereign difficulty without any customizations by the way.

You're definitely right about the UI, I fail to understand how after FIVE months it's still so lacking. I'm using 23 (!!) UI mods, and even then it's still not perfect. Sometimes I have to save and reload to see what choosing between two options actually does!

As for Specialists, good call, I just checked and that city has 9 specialists, which should mean 18 deductions? Weird...
