I agree some balance is needed. 12 and 12 as the base thresholds are too low. I've been paying around with a mod that increases tech/civics costs, raises the ages thresholds to 18, and increases era length - it works well enough that I don't always get golden ages; you probably wouldn't want to increase it that much without the other tweaks.Something I didn't like so far is how they seem to have added tons of new sources of era points but doesn't seem like they did any balance change, which mean it will be even easier to streak golden ages and even more impossible to get a dark age unless you do it on purpose. Even doing it on purpose might get harder now. I honestly don't understand how Firaxis don't see that as a problem. At least for me dark ages barely exist as a mechanic, I only interact with it when the Ai get one. Same for Heroic ages, it's not even a thing.

I forgot how painful it's to watch other people play. Quill18 just started a wonder on a wood tile and didn't harvest the wood, with Magnus in the city. What kind of monster does that?
Quill is just horrible, can't watch him. It's not that he plays fast, but he plays carelessly. Like going all "I want more XP on scouts", an scout gets promoted, there's a goody hut he can't reach, he parks the scout next to it and sets it to move to the goody hut WITHOUT USING THE PROMOTION! Jesus, I facepalmed and closed the video. He plays almost like if he doesn't care.

Even in months of constant sunlight, areas near the poles receive very little solar energy since the sun is always near the horizon and travels through much more atmosphere than warmer climes. I would guess solar collectors aren't allowed because of that (though of course I'm no expert either).
Why are all live streamers playing on Emperor difficulty? Presumably because Firaxis told them to.
Is the AI most optimised on Emperor difficultly?

You cannot ignore requests anymore.
What's the penalty for breaking a promise? Since to me, I'm always going to say "I'm sorry for sending my apostles" for some sweet sweet free favour.
Stuff like this is why I could never, ever be a live streamerQuill18 completed a quest from Hattusa and got its suzerain but the strategic resources UI only updated when he ordered a wonder to be built in his capital as you can see here. So if you get Hattusa but nothing happens, don't worry, the UI seems to update when you do an action like ordering something to be built.
The other scout also met China without promoting when he knew he would meet China if he moved.
The tile he settled Toronto gave me a small heart attack. I have nothing against settling cities 3 tiles close when you have a good reason to do it but good lord, he could settle up river, get more territory from China, better access to floodplains, which will be boosted by flooding, still get his precious coffee and add a cotton tile on top of it, all that while increasing his distance to his capital.
Edit: I also have some serious issue with how he completely ignore diplomacy. I guess he is so used with the AI being aggressive in early game on deity that he doesn't even bother.
