Marbozir just posted a video with Phoenicia. He super forward settled inca and canada and they paid him 60 diplomatic favor to promise not to settle them pretty early in game. feels so slimy lol.
Presumably this favour is dependent on keeping your promise? It would seem silly if you could reap the diplomatic rewards without actually abiding by it.
Unfortunately, if I understand the system correctly, you get the favor when you make the promise but generate grievances (which is a separate thing I think) if you break the promise.
I may be missing something but yeah, if this is how it works then it feels really weird. I hope the favor is also rewarded when you actually fulfill your promise, but...

Have the previews shown how exactly solar and wind farm improvements work? I am still confused on whether they actually mitigate CO2 levels or simply not add *as much* as, say, a coal plant? For that matter, does planting forests help reduce CO2 lvls?

Since power plants use strategic resources to make power and produce CO2, getting Power from solar and wind means less Power from power plants so they produce less CO2.
Trees act as a buffer against CO2 production. So more trees = less CO2 produced per turn. Trees also make it less likely to have a drought because the requirements for drought are treeless expanses.
Dammit, posted in the linked thread... they have changed Shipyards
They have added +1 food, +2 Prod and +2 gold to it... increased it by 25 prod but hey... that's 12 turns with that +2 prod.
cheers!

Seems to be a bug where after you move Magnus with his promotion for units to consume 80% less strategic resources the bonus still remains in the city he was previously stationed in.
I would love this to get patched in. I'm not sure we know all the effects of grievances, but it doesn't seem like enough punishment.
This is why they should release features early to let the collective wisdom influence it. We don't know all the systems they rejected to get to this point, so it seems obvious to us that the favor should come from keeping the promise.
The Mali production malus bug has been fixed more recently than the press build, per Twitter (and the relevant Civfanatics thread). Mentioning here for visibility.
