LK Planning Thread

:bump:
Still looking for one more player.

I would paly if you want to have me again :D

I did not beaten Emperor yet however - tho i feel pretty comfy at Monrach by now, so i think i could move up, i.e. when beeing part of a team.

i'd like to sign up. Have i beaten Emperor before? Yes (although just barely(Charlemagne almost won space but i beat him by 3 turn via diplomacy). I am however playing the MLG 06 Emperor Spacemen game, and i have to admit, the AI expands fast! Just for this reason, i think a good map would be contenants (less civs in our contenant) and Joao, for his traits. His UU and UB are good for water maps also. Also i think a good strategy is a heavy REX, as we probably won't get alot of cities otherwise.

(please note that i won't be able to play anytime from January 15, to January 17 or 18).

You missed this post? :p it's ok. i'll look forward to a future game. :)

LK141 start up -

Difficulty = monarch, map =Pangaea, standard size world, civ =Maya, speed = Epic

Variant: The lazy Mayans
We may build exactly ONE worker. After that, we can only get workers via capture / settler kills.
I suspect this will turn out harder then the Civ3 version since workers aren't for sale anymore.

I only have Portugal to play to complete my goal of playing every civ. :)

2 SG seems to be my limits right now (especially with some RB events on), so I will lurk this one (and let other players enjoy playing the LK series)

Jabah

:hatsoff: Is't me again. Seems i have time for another one.

Interesting Variant for a Expansive civ - but at least we will have our only self-made worker built fast :D

I like the variant, but due to possible time crunches, I don't know whether I'll be able to play this one... After my exam tomorrow, I'll see how things are going time-wise, and if there is still room for me, I'll sign up.

Glad to see this is moving. Still have a few slots available.

OK, I'll give the old "slave raider" variant a go. Actually I find I'm usually too cavalier about this kind of thing, and end up at war with too many unrelenting civs at once, so I could use the practice. :)

I will start this one shortly.

I have enough time to start another LK series game. LK142 is going to be a monarch game with Portugal.

I am going to open the discussion for the variant for a few days to see what people would like. The only definite are the civ (last not played civ), and BTS.

A couple of high level ideas I had are:

1) Democratic civ:
All key decisions must be put up for a vote. The current player is the tie breaker. The decisions include city placement, wonder building, declaring war, civics, GP usage, adopting a religion, etc. Standard policies will be voted on for how to react to war requests. The second an AI-AI war starts, you must stop and set policy for which side you will support. A standard policy will be developed for demands such as always cave to Monty, refuse to give up monopoly / wonder techs etc.

2) Redo the chaos civ concept done before. Each turn requires rolling a personality such as
11 = diplomatic oaf, must ignore all diplomatic requests,
12 = war monger - must declare war on a nearby neighbor, etc.
13 = split personality - roll the dice again (ignore 13) and this is your personality for the first half of your turn set. Roll the dice a third time for the second half (ignore 13) and this is your other personality (must be different from first).
If the is enough interest I will develop my own unique combinations.

3) Everyone plays: After each round a vote is taken for which set to continue with. The same person can't play two sets in a row.

4) Player suggested variant - write in your ideas here:

What about a game in which every city must be settled on a resource (inc. Capital). It does seem you want a less gamey variant though.

Eh, it's just an idea I was playing around with. Perhaps it doesn't suit Joooooa.

I would go for this :p

Maybe with Joao something like multiple continents and high sea level map. Must win by domination but cannot have more than 8-12 cities so need to establish lots of large colonies.

I was thinking along those lines too. Something like must settle XYZ different landmasses or can't settle more than 3 cities on the same island (including starting land)
