LK137 - Monarch, Khemr, Medium & Small

New Updates
I am already guilty of a communications breakdown. To me an exploring workboat on a map with islands is such an auto-pilot move I never even considered someone building a third fishing net. :(
IMHO map knowledge is far more important then food that will only be used sometimes.

Depending on the Greek lands to the other side we may have boxed the Greeks in very early, and could face retaliation. I personally never would have committed such as all or nothing gamble. I am totally outside of my normal comfort zone at this point. My only concern is getting our civ safe. My number one goal above all is fixing our military situation before Greece declares and we suffer an early defeat. Based on that:
1) The worker completes the mine and road on the copper. I would rather lose the great lighthouse then lose cities.
2) The worker gets the cattle going to get more shields at our military city.
3) I want axes ASAP in our gold city.

I still want the GL, but we are going the wrong tech path for it. Please cancel research on writing, and get masonry so the GL is available for builds.

For Yaso - I would like the build order to complete the work boat (we need map knowledge to prosper), ASAP worker, lighthouse and GL.

If Greece asks for open borders - give it to him. That will be the difference if we can survive this game.

Remember 15 peace (including phony wars) / 10 heavy war turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.

Win target: open.

Planned wars - none.

One addition request - can we start to build a cash reserve? I would hate to take a negative result from and event due to lack of cash.

Have you thought about other option? Greece would have settled that spot and we would have been totally boxed in. It would have forced us to early war anyway.

Yep, research path should be Masonry -> Writing. And when Writing finishes, give open borders to Greece immediately.

Good point.

Yes, but there is a key difference - we would have controlled when the war starts. If Greece has metals they could declare before we even have a single unit in gold city.

Maybe we should just start pumping axemen from copper city and take Greeces capital for our next city?

IHT: Switch research to Masonry and 0%.

T3: Turn research back up to 70%. Yaso finishes work boat, starts worker.

T4: Judaism spreads to Hari.

I convert to make Pericles pleased. I don't think he will declare when pleased. Whip worker in Yaso. Angkor finishes a warrior, starts a granary for a few turns until copper is connected.

T5: Our capital starts a lighthouse.

T6: Copper is hooked up, so Angkor Thom switches to an axe. The worker pastures the cows now. The new worker from Yaso started a mine on the plains hill.

T8: I realise that Hari is working on a spearman now copper is hooked, so I switch it to a (half-price) granary.

T10: Stonhenge built in a distant land, 1625AD.

T13: Masonry -> Writing. The worker chops a forest into the lighthouse at Yaso. Our worker finishes the cows, but does not road them since we are expansive and don't need the health. More of a priority is finishing that road to Hari.

T14: I have had enough exploring with that work boat, it really needs to be working the nets at Hari. It does so on this turn. Whip a granary in that city since it went to size 2 this turn.

Hrmmm, so the great lighthouse in the capital will take a whopping 36 turns. I wanna build another settler for that stone city.

Save, s save save .... SAVE

Good progress. Got it for tomorrow.

I'll probably build settler from gold city and let capital concentrate on Great Lighthouse. I will also chop all forest near it.

A revised rule set

Standard LK house rules:
1) Worker automation is prohibited.

2) A go to order is only allowed if you turn summary warns that it is happening and explains why. Sometimes it is just too important to make sure those reinforcements don't get sent to the wrong place.

3) Please complete your turn. At most the next player should have one unmoved unit such as a settler where you are unsure of its direction. A stack that is fortified counts as completed. The game should be sitting ready to hit end of turn with very little left to move.

4) Don't edit your game results into a previous post. There is no notification of new activity. I have had SGs stalled waiting thinking I was waiting for a person to move, when they already did.

5) The use of the auto-logger is prohibited for the body of your report. You may include it as a spoiler tag. SGs are about writing up enough information so that the team understands where you are going. The auto-logger clearly fails in this regard. Knowing the details doesn't show the big picture. SGs need the big picture.

6) SGs are about cooperative team play. If you aren't willing to discuss plans before and / or after your turn, then the LK series isn't for you. Example of discussion that is expected:
a) Early game dot map planning
b) Any war against a direct neighbor (except land grab from a civ getting slaughtered)

7) Putting GP asleep is prohibited. Even if you are saving him for a GA leave him awake and hit the space bar. Please try to use the GP ASAP and don't hold him for the end of your turn set.

8) I reserve the right to refuse players whom IMHO failed to play in the spirit of cooperation. Declaring an unexpected major war is a high risk that you will go on this list. Excessive personal attacks against other players guarantee a ban from the LK series.

I realize rule 8 is a bit harsh, but I can tell too much infighting will put the LK series back on hold.

34 turns for the GL is a bit high, but it should drop at size 5 picking up another shield. Add in some forest chopping, and I think the odds look decent.

 To Sooooo for adopting Judaism. Normally I hate early religions, but in this case it was the perfect move. My nervousness with Greece is definitely down.

If Greece asks for open borders - give it to him. Depending of what we found exploring his borders, our fifth city may be the Greek capitol.

Now we are pleased with Pericles, I don't see the big rush for axes from Angkor Thom. Instead, after its current axeman I think it should make a settler for stone city and another worker. We can defend from barbs with just one axe at Hari.

Since Pericles is stuck with one city, which is also a holy city, I'm guessing that an axe rush will be hard to pull off. Expect 3-4 archers and 40% cultural defence by the time we can reach him. I agree with soooo that we should concentrate on the 4th city for the time being, and return for Pericles once we have catapults.

Should we try to settle city beyond the gold city? Or are we fine with four cities at least for now?

I'm not 100% sure if we can connect stone to our cities. Will road do the job when it's on island?

Need a settlement over there.

Think we should leave at least 2 forests at the capital for some health. 1 on the hill, another on a grassland. On this kind of snaky archipelago health is a real problem. We should also consider the hanging gardens later.

We are expansive so health isn't that big issue. I would still chop all forest's to guarantee Great Lighthouse and get production from Moai Statues.

Edit: Actually we really can't chop island hill forest without galley so might as well keep plains forest for health :)

Edit2: And it isn't even plains...
