LK141 - The lazy Mayans

New Updates
We lack dyes and marble. That alone justifies getting the other two Greek cities. The only problem is we will really need to push culture in those ASAP, or we will lose Thebes to Portugal.

Mutal has pretty good science and cottages, so I vote for an academy there from the scientist.

We must thank Alexander for the two instructors in Athens. We have another military city at some point.

I really love our happiness situation and that is before connecting incense and acquiring dyes.
The only thing I don't see is a clear location for GT even with taking Greece.

We may build exactly ONE worker. After that, we can only get workers via capture / settler kills.

Remember 15 peace (including phony wars) / 10 heavy war turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.

Win target: None

Planned wars - open to discussion when the workers appear.

T0 550AD - Academy built in Mutal

IBT - Apostolic Palace BIADL under Hinduism (I vote for Freddy); Zara and Cathy make peace; Zara builds the ToA

T4 610AD - This happens:

I don't think I really had to stop here, considering her only attack force is a single swordsman, but I guess we can decide what to do in regards to the Greek front. I would suggest starting to ship our troops towards Russia, but leaving enough to take Alex's last two cities.

Are you done with your turn, or do you plan to play more after hearing comments?
Cathy is to far away for us to gain much, so I think it is just a defensive war letter her burn turns.

T7 655AD - I successfully let Izzy suicide on Thebes and easily clean up.

IBT - I agree to this deal because Fred is one of the few AIs that we have good relations with.

T9 685AD - Corinth falls and Alex is gone.

We are now at one war less. We got no more workers out of it though :(

I suggest we scout out this city (I want it so badly!) to see whether we can do some damage. We may not, considering the following graph:

Good work on Alex. Bad luck he had (Disbanded ? Lost earlier ?) no Workers...

Cathy is on her way to HBR and Horse Archers. If we dont have those yet, we should build a couple of Spears.

We do have a couple of UUs floating around. Is it more sinister than HAs, ie knights? Hmm... maybe a little early. In any case we gained ivory during the war, so that's that for defence against horse. It might be an idea to chop that jungle and forest around that fort in the s/s, btw, if we're using it as a stronghold.

Our finances are terrible at 40%. This looks like a rebuild the economy round.

We really need courts in our cities. I queue up code of laws after philosophy. The only reason I don't abort philosophy right now is we have a chance to found Taoism.

I grab all of Joao's cash for Drama.
I give Zara music and drama for feudalism and $90.

715 AD
Cathy is serious about this war. I just spotted a stack with 15 units on the way.
I dial up Zara and he agrees to declare war on Cathy simply for being our friend.
(IT) Cathy's stack may be in retreat. :)

760 AD
(IT) Uxmal is the home of Taoism.
Now we just need to get a priest for a shrine...

775 AD
(IT) The frelling AP just cancelled the war against Zara.

805 AD
It cost us drama, but we have peace with Cathy.

=======================

New Updates
We need to start spreading the word of god.
We need to find a source to spread the AP religion of Hinduism.
Uxmal is to spread Taoism in anticipation of getting the Taoism shrine.

I have Mutal working toward a prophet. The time looks absurd right now with 148 turns, but we have another temple due in 4 turns that will cut that in half with hiring a second priest. It if builds Angkor Wat, the time gets even better.
Watch the frelling governor. It keeps trying to hire specialist in Lakamba, and that would cause that city to have the next specialist.

The economy is starting to improve. We need more courts in place. The trouble is our Greek cities are too small to build them anytime soon.

I got it, but can't look till a bit later.

Turns 235 - 245 / 900AD to 1000AD

The turnset went quite different from the "Spread Religion" guideline from our chief... We were on a verge of a catastrophe. I was lucky enought - and the AI stupid enought to let me - to avert it for now... Still in quite a tight spot...

Sorry for not having better news...

Turn 237: - We are beeing dogpiled upon. Jao Declares, as does Zara. The later one was pleased. I presume bribed [pissed]. And of course he grunted at me. I really-really hate him.
Spoiler :
2jerkssi0.jpg
- Jao strikes at thebes. We hold the city - barely - but he has more units incomming, and i see no way to bring in reinforcements in time... He has Maces, and Crossbows... All the cool stuff we don't have  I try to emergency-build Walls, but dont really think i will have those in time...
- He also took our Worker, who was choping near Athens. He moved the HA all the way in, right after declaring and took the worker. I would REALLY like to know, how he knew the guy was there in the first place... Well maybe he just got lucky... That hurts.
Spoiler :
workerwf4.jpg
- Also start Walls in the former greek cities on his border, and put everything else we have no Longbows - Building Axes/Swords seems pointless right now...
- Move a stack of Cats/Swords towards evora... It might be too bold, but it's a Confucian Holy City and it's defended weekly - perhaps taking it will put Jao in the mood to talk...

Turn 238: - Thebes holds one more turn - at least it does cost Jao time and units... Walls can be whiped to be done next turn.
- The 10 Turns peace with Cathy are up, and she declares right away... Anyone surprised ?
- Take a worker near Evora... Not sure if we can keep him. Couldn't :(
- Kill Zaras Chariot in our lands and pop us a GG... GG waiting in Mutal - i think Super Medic, but had no good unit at hand...

Turn 239: - Thebes builds walls, and holds barely for one more turn... Also got some reinforcement Longbows there... We might keep it after all...
- A AP vote comes UP... Stop War to Jao... Vote Yes out the sense of self-preservation....
- Before that kicks in, take Evora from him - at the cost of 2 cats and 3 swords... The city is odd - 1 off the coast - but not terrible and also Confucian Holy city... And on a hill, for easier defence...
Spoiler :
evorawb3.jpg
- I think there will be resolutions to "Give It Back" at some point - i would defy... Only Evora and former Greek cities will be affected by the  - and those have enought :)-surplus.

Turn 240:
- Thebes still standing...
- The War with Jao is off again via AP... Here the - unpleasant - overview of the voting powers... The only yhing between us and a AP loss is Izzy... Let's hope she gets herself into Theocracy soon.
Spoiler :
votesyj3.jpg

Turn 241: - Civil Service done... The time does not seem right to revolt...
- Set Machinery, as we want those fancy maces as well...

Turn 242: - Cathy decides to attack our boarder-fortifiction on that hill... She can clear out the fort, but her stack looses much of its scaryness in process. The puny remainder withdraws for now...
- I made quite a few longbows over the past turns, and also send back some troops from the Portuguese front, so i decide to use the opportunity to revolt to Burocracy now, to help our capital. Another civic (HR) would cost a second turn of revolt, and we dont really have unhappy-issues, so not now...

Turn 244: - Cathys stack seems to be withdrawn for good.
- I even feel safe enought to finally put Mutal back on Angkor Wat... ETA 18 turns... Everything else (but the puny greek towns) stays on troop duty...

Turn 245: - All quiet... Suspicious...
- The boarder Fort vs. Cathy. is Regarrisoned.

Very impressive warring skills! :)

I guess having the world hate you isn't the greatest thing in the world, but would we be any better without workers?

Yep, you managed to pick up a city while being dogpiled.

It's a pity we've surrounded Izzy - hopefully she can still be persuaded to go-a-warring.

Well I'm finally feeling better and I believe I'm getting over this bug I had. I'm not used to being sick an entire week. Internet is fixed too. Odd, basically we set the dsl modem to be bypassed and am letting the router do all the work. Now I'm not sure why I even have a modem.

Anyway, put me back in the roster please.

New Updates
Refar did a good job keeping us from a disaster.

We have to yell at Portugal for not building a shrine. The extra city is nice, but I wish it came with at least one building. I would whip the theater in Evora now. We need to start building some Mayan culture. We also need to close that culture gap near Thebes.

72 turns is still painfully long for our next prophet. I hope this war mess doesn't cost us Angkor Wat.

We need to get out of these other wars and starting spreading Hindu to better take advantage of the AP. A possible AP loss is starting to worry me. Athens needs that iron mined to get another city on military. I have a bad feeling the rest of the game is going to be painful with wars.

@Refar - the AI has no grey fog which is why it knew where the worker was. It only uses this cheat in war time (which is why it'll ignore your SoD on its doorstep in peace time).
