good work on ToE/replacement parts shadowlord, i wouldnt have picked that up. its little things like this that i,m learning from and improving my play
 
thanks swiftsure :) its something I noticed a long time ago, I always try to time getting a tech the same turn or the turn before the ToE is done. If the difference in time is too much, no way to get a tech before ToE is done, I set science to 0%, since all that science will be wasted anyway, it gives a big treasury boost at no loss in science to you.

France and Rome signed MPP. We learn replaceable parts. ToE completed in Leipzig. we get Atomic Theory, Electronics and Golden Age. I pick sanitation. New Hamburg completed factory, start bank(5). Leipzig gets to build Hoover(11).

Sci slider down by 10%. Sanitation 60% 4 turns +98gpt. Cavalry visits french territory to scout defences of Avignon in case of war with France. MM Berlin to max growth cavalry still in 1 turns. Same for Hamburg. Rome and France don't seem to have rubber.

America & Russia embargo against us. Berlin completed Cav, start police station(5). Hamburg complete cav. start police sation(4). Munich completed factory, start police station(6). Heidelburg completed library, start cathedral(6). Bremen completed temple, start Aqueduct(3). New Konigsberg completed barracks, start Aqueduct(15). Vet cav kills elite roman knight without taking a scratch and promotes.

Egypt & Rome signed MPP. Konigsberg completed factory, start harbor. Cologne completed cav, start another. Caesar wants Replaceable parts for peace. Cathy would sign peace but won't give us anything for it.

4/1670:
France & Russia ally against Japan and France declare war on Japanese. Russian frigate sinks our southern galleon. France & Rome ally against us. We lost horses and got reason to take Avignon :satan:. Russians land cossack next to New Berlin. Send vet cav to annihilate him. Took Avignon, worker ordered. Berlin reaches size 12 so switch to max shields (police station one turn sooner). MM New Berlin for growth, Iron works still complete next turn. Switch Brandenburg to zero growth for max production to get granary completed in six turns instead of 21. I think it's worth it to get the city growing faster.

I also noticed that whoever discovered electricity didn't irrigate plains near Berlin and Munich :smoke:, now corrected. :smoke: for me too for not picking this immediately. Also irrigated grasslands used by Bremen. Peace with Russia for nothing.

Disorder in Hamburg. Seems that the war weariness starts to kick in. Saved New Hamburg from disorder by cycling through all cities and hiring entertainer. Resistance in Avignon ended. Sci down by 10% Corporation still in 2 turns and lux up by 10% +18gpt. Caesar has corporation and wants sanitation for peace. Abe has corporation too.

Egypt & France sign trade embargo against us. Frankfurt completed factory, start cathedral(10). Munich completed police station, start hospital(5).Heidelburg completed cathedral, start police station(5). Bremen completed infantry, start university(4). Avignon completed worker, start granary. Sci down by 30% Corporation in 1 turn with +287gpt.

9/1695:
We learn corporation. Research refining at 60% 7 turns +28gpt. Salzburg completed aqueduct, start bank(27). New Leipzig completed temple, start worker(2). New Hamburg completed courthouse, start police station. MM Leipzig for two gold.

More good news judging from the advisors expression. It's been a while since I last saw an Roman unit headed this way. Berlin completed police station, start infantry. Nuremberg completed factory, start aqueduct. Kaifeng riots. This has probably something to do with the war against China. Brandenburg completed granary, start marketplace(50). Pack recently returned galleon with cavalry to take Dijon.

I only had time for 10 turns. It seems that we are damned to continuous war with Romes allies.

Roman cavalry spotted in striking distance of Frankfurt. I don't want to waste our Golden Age fighting, so I sign America up into a Military Alliance against Rome. They will be a solid buffer for Rome to advance through. I'm not worried about any of the other nations attacking us. Change taxes to 3.6.1 for +96gpt/6 turns/a handful of entertainers.
Japanese offer alliance against Russia. We refuse. I continue the work of building up infrastructure, particularly happiness buildings and Police Stations to combat war weariness in a democracy. If we can stay in a democracy while our enemies descend into communism, then the game will almost be over.

(1) 1705 AD
Sign Right of Passage with America so our Cavalry can reach the Romans. Our Cavalry advance into American territory, but unfortunately end up right near Romans. They take a few legionaries down, losing a cavalry, but Roman riflemen remain. Our galleon with cavalry lands on Northwest island.
France and Egypt declare war on America. Japan and Rome sign a trade embargo against us. We lose one more cavalry in the Roman skirmish. Berlin begins work on the Battlefield Medicine, and Leipzig completes the Hoover Dam!

(2) 1710 AD
The cavalry on Northwest island, with the help of a single infantry, are able to capture the French colony of Dijon. We lose two cavalry in the attack. We clear out a couple more Romans in American territory.
The trade embargo against us between Japan and Rome ends. That was short! Rome and Japan are at war.

(3) 1715 AD
Our wounded cavalry retreat to Frankfurt to heal up. Egypt declares war on Japan

(4) 1720 AD
Chinese land some cavalry on our Southwest island.

(5) 1725 AD
Taxes set to 5.4.1 and still get tech next turn. We clear Chinese invaders off our Southwest island. Romans now have infantry. No possibility of conquering them until we get tanks.

Taxes to 3.6.1. +69gpt/6 turns. America offers alliance against the Egyptians. I refuse. Egypt and Rome sign a trade embargo against us. Egypt declares war on us because of a mutual protection pact with Rome. New Berlin's coal is exhausted. Good thing we built the Iron Works when we did!

First bouts of war weariness hit. Taxes to 3.5.2 to counteract.

(8) 1740 AD
Berlin completes the Battlefield Medicine.

Japan is on the verge of being wiped out. I trade him Nationalism for 7gpt+20g hoping to save him. Somehow war weariness against us has dropped? China comes looking for peace, wanting Scientific Method. I refuse.

(10) 1750 AD
Taxes set to 1.8.1 for tech next turn. Looking at the Military Advisor screen I see that Russia and France are now in Communism.

1750 (0): Make peace with France and China, for 100 and 80 gold respectively.

1752 (1): Golden age is over. Berlin completes colosseum, start artillery. Konigsberg builds PS, start infantry. Munich infantry start artillery. Steel next turn at +233 gold. Begin moving cavs toward Rome. Made peace with 2 civs but approval rating dropped to 60%.

1754 (2): Bremen builds PS start artillery. New Berlin builds market start university. New Hamburg builds bank start granary. Combustion in 7 with -91gpt. Change Heidelburg from collesseum to granary. Trade cathy spices for ivory straight up. Trade Mao wines and 275 gold for horses.

1756 (3): Berlin builds artillery start cavalry. Hambury, infantry start cavs. Heidelburg, granary start galleon. Nuremberg, bank start cavs. Hannover, infantry start cavs. Can get some gold from the Americans for tech but at this point we have a sizeable lead and I don't want to give it away. Kill a lone Egyptian Cav to the north. Trade Mao Scientific method for 65gpt, 14 gold and Maps. Make the same trade with Abe for 33gpt, 80 gold and maps. Combustion now in 5 turns -80 gpt.

1758 (4): The cav build up continues, lost 2 cavs to 1 Roman cav, 2 elite cavs remain.

1760 (5): Romans take the 2 cavs :(. More Cavs are being built. The galleon loads up 2 artillary and will pickup a couple cavs on the way towards Rome. War weariness is getting tougher. I make peace with Egypt for 100 gold. Load up a new galleon with 3 cavs and 1 infantry.

Ibtn: Cleo wants a trade embargo againts our good freinds the americans, i decline but sell her Scientific Method for our 100 gold back and 5 gpt.

1762 (6): Buildup some more cavalry, 2 ship are heading south. Need more.

1764 (7): More cavs built start on some artillery, and another galleon. Combustion next turn +225 gold. Egypt recently took out Japan. America is fighting hard with Rome.

1766 (8): Start on Mass production then will be on to Motorized transport and PANZERS :devil:, more artillery and cavs. MP due in 6 at -9 gpt.

1768 (9): Begin moving stack of cavs through america toward Rome, 2 galleons arrive at Pompeii.

1770 (10): More troop heading south, a transport of artillery and a stack of cavs are converging on Rome. Trade Mao refining for 31gpt, furs and 8 gold. Everyone else is broke. This allows research to be bumped to 80% and get Mass producotion in 3 with -88 gpt. Stack o cavs takes Syracus, 2 resistors.

1772 (11): More troops being built, can't wait for the Panzers, cavs are weak against infantry.

1774 (12): Mass production next turn, +95 gold. More cavs are in transports waiting to be sent off full.

1776 (13): Start Motorized Transportation due in 5 at 70% and -9gpt, more troop arrive outside of Pompeii, will attack next turn. Stack arrives at Antium and attacks, kill 2 infantry and lost 4 cavs rest wounded :(.

1778 (14): Take Pompeii, moving on toward Antium. Lost 2 cavs.

1780 (15): Every citie is rioting, Ww is over 45% or more. Cancel our alliance with America vs. Rome. Rome will not give up any cities will try one more turn of war then make peace.

1782 (16): The russian want refining I refuse they declare war :(. Begin some infantry for some homeland secruity. The war on Rome continues to the south.

1784 (17): Take Antium, get peace and there 59 gold from Rome. Can Start to concentrate on Russia and hopefully slow the WW.

Everybody is happy again, fire bunch of entertainers and reduce lux back to 10%. Increase research to 90 to get Panzers next turn, will run -166 gold but will slow research to get back over 1000 gold.

1786 (18): Learn Motorized Transport [biggrin], start on the Panzers. Begin research on Flight, cut back to 20% to gain 400+ gold to get back over 1000 total. Start bringing artillery and cavs toward Russia, will have Panzers to add to the attack in 3 turns.

1788 (19): Take Odessa easily with artillery and cavs. Sending Infantry for reinforcements. Increase research back to 70% to get Flight in 6 @ +10 gpt.

1790 (20): Moving on Smolensk. Many Panzers are due next turn, working with only one transport on the east coast 2 more are under construction as well as a destroyer on patrol, there are few more transport two the west. Antium has a lot of troops ready for war. With Panzers, artillery and infantry we should put a big dent in Russia then attack Amrerica. We could take America easily, they lack just about all the key resources. There are a few deals ending in a couple turns, Cash for Tech with America. Cash for tech with China, Wine for horses with china. It may be time to sell more tech to keep the bank roll up. We are way ahead of everyone in tech. Rome is still at war with America as is Egypt, and France.

This Round was about bringin the war to Rome, Making Peace at some cost (about 300 gold) total between China, France and Egypt. War Weariness became a real problem and I think we were really close to going into mass Rioting and overthrow of the goverment. Right now everyone is happy but we have only been at war with Russia a few turns.

what do i need ....... Panzers, lots of Panzers!

1792 combined artillery and cavalry attack takes smolensk, this gives us four "home-grown" luxeries. Transport heads for pompeii to pick up the artillery and some cavalry for the russian front.

1794 the first panzers arrive in russia, they roll of the transports and head straight for sverlovsk, sverlovsk falls.

trade wine and incense to china for 27gpt

1796 more panzers arrive but we consolidate our gains

1798 more panzers and attack and take st petersburg,

trade atomic theory to china for horses,w/m, 30gp and 91gpt
trade atomic theory to rome for 14gp and 10gpt
trade atomic theory to america for 30gp and 18gpt

1800 our scientists discover flight and start on radio which should be discovered in 7 turns

the panzers attack and take moscow, pyramids,sistine are ours

1802 panzers take kiev

1804 panzers attack and take tbilisi,rostov and minsk

we hurry the temples in svrdlosk and smolensk for a total of 340gp

1806 sevastopol is taken

1808 yakutsk and vladivostock fall to our victorious panzers, yakutsk will give us a fifth homegrown lux in ivory and we will get dyes when moscows and minsks borders expand

1810 novgorod is taken by panzers and artillery

trade atomic theory to egypt for espionage,w/m and 60gp

panzers are now being sent to the american borders instead of over to russia.

radio will be discovered in 2 turns.

next up will have to decide if we want peace with russia, they are offering three of their japanese towns.

we should also tade some techs to keep our income up.

IT: I see panzers fortified in former russian cities that still have movement left. China and France are the only civs not at war, and they are the only democracies left in the world besides us. We are two turns away from modern times. Leo's is in Paris, Bach's is in Beijing. Rome does not have coal. America does not have iron, coal, salt peter, or rubber. they cannot build infantry or cavalry, no hurry in taking them out, we can do it anytime. France does not have iron, saltpeter, or rubber. Antium, a 1/1 city, is producing infantry? changed all such cities to something more appropriate. Smolensk switched to airport and rushed. Vladivostok is building privateers? All cities building Panzers switched to airports or other city improvements. Krasnoyarsk captured. Astrakhan captured. Buto captured. Pithom captured. Izumo autorazed after bombardment took it to 1 citizen. Edo captured.

1812 Kagoshima captured. Kharkov captured. Riga captured.

1814 Radio researched, Fission began. Rocketry for free. Kyoto captured, and the Russians have been destroyed. Egypt has picked a very bad place to be (between my airport and the wonders I want in Paris and Beijing). Matsuyama captured. Nagoya captured. Airlift operations begin.

1816 Dnepropetrovsk captured. Yokohama captured. Nagasaki captured. Shimonoseki captured. Sapporo captured.

1818 Lisht captured.

1820 Avaris captured. trade ivory to rome for wm, 5 gpt, and 50 gold. Cancel RoP with america, give them wines for 5 gpt. RoP and alliance against egypt with China, egypt had a few cities I would have had to go through China to get to anyway.

1822 Asyut captured. Byblos captured, and a GL emerges. Army formed. Abydos captured. El-Amarna captured. Leipzig switched to palace for UN. I meant to do this a few turns ago, but got distracted.

1824 Elephantine captured.

1826 Hannover begins Military Academy. Thebes captured, along with the Hanging Gardens and Shakespeare's theatre. A GL is produced from the fighting, and completes the Heroic Epic in thebes.

1828 Heliopolis captured, producing another GL. Egyptian rubber pillaged.

Elephantine defects to Egypt, taking our army and a few panzers.

1830 War weariness is starting to be felt. Elephantine recaptured. Hieraconpolis captured.

1832 GL makes it back to Hannover and rushes the Military Academy. Memphis captured. Giza captured.

1834 Fission learned, Ecology began. Leipzig switched to UN. Military Academy is complete. Alexandria captured. Edfu captured. Pi-Ramesses captured, and the Egyptians are no more.

I decided to end my turn here. It is very near the beginning of the turn, just enough moved to finish off the egyptians. The next player is in a position to consolitate, declare war on france or china, or declare war on america, but this war will go slower, since most of our tanks are on the other continent (every unit that I built was air lifted to Smolensk).

After centuries of absence Rheinmetall returns just in time to inherit the rule of mighty German nation after shdwlord sudden disappearance. There are rumours that he left to take over other "succession games".

0/1834: Preturn
After arriving upon the stone heap the lesser folks call a "palace" Rheinmetall swiftly assesses his choices and resources left to him by shdwlord. Foreign advisor tells Rheinmetall that Japanese, Egyptians and Russians are no more. Military advisor gleefully explains bloody details of their downfall and presents Rheinmetall a new fearsome weapon called the "Panzer". Previous rulers hadused it with great success against our now extinct foes. Rheinmetall wants this trend to continue.

Rheinmetall briefly visits Avignon, Stuttgart, Lisht, Dortmund, Brandenburg, New Berlin, Dnepropetrovsk, Matsuyama, New Leipzig, Moscow, Kyoto, Berlin, Memphis, Kiev, Hamburg, Elephantine and Frankfurt and gives precise instructions to local government how to manage these cities to get best results.

Science advisor informs that future is bright for Germans. He promises great advances in military technology that eventually allow us to build glorious war machines that surpass in power even the feared Panzers.

Shooed roman forces from Germany. Cancelled some deals with Mao. He is really broke. I have chosen France as my primary target. China is secondary. America and Rome are out because our forces are on wrong continent. France doesn't want to buy any luxuries so we have nothing to gain from them but their territory. :satan:. I'll wait until resistance ends in Egyptian cities. Then France will feel my wrath!

Troop movement. Resistance is quelling. War declared on France. War Time economy declared! Set research to 10% and lux. up. War weariness will get us real quick so this war must be short and painful (for the French). Destroyed French Iron and Dyes colonies and captured some workers. Capture Tokyo. Capture Tours, lost panzer. Capture Orleans. Capture Tientsin. Killed 2 French cavalry standing next to Satsuma. Capture Satsuma, lost panzer. Captured Besacnon, lost panzer. Captured Nara. Captured Grenoble. These were the easy ones. I'll need more substantial force to take out Paris and our lines grow thin.

2/1838AD

Rome and America settle their differences. France counterattacks with infantry. Lost three more panzers. Six were supplied from homeland. Weakened French infantry units with artillery and finished them off but still lost one panzer.

3/1840AD

Quickly build railroad to Grenoble to support offensive against Paris. After heavy artillery bombardment German panzer divisions roll down the mountains to Paris and capture it. Lost an elite panzer to an 1 HP infantry:eek:. We now control Leo's. Captured Rouen.

4/1842AD

Rheims gets its share of artillery shells and gets overrun by German panzers. Three remaining French cities are in hard to get places so it'll take few more turns to get rid of France. I don't deal anything to China. I think you can guess why. :satan:.

5/1844AD

Captured Lyons. GL Horsa emerges. Captured Marseilles, lost panzer.

Chinese army appears near Edo. Terrain in China is favourable to direct panzer assault. War declared on Chinese. Tatung captured. Athribis captured. Chengdu captured. Shanghai captured, lost 5 panzers. Taking metropolis without any artillery support is a bad idea. Switch to War time economy again.

Chinese cavalry army takes Edo after almost losing to a cavalry defending it :crazyeye:. Edo captured. Macao captured. Tsingtao captured. Chinan captured. Hangchow captured, lost panzer. Beijing captured, lost 3 panzers. Bach's is ours. Canton captured. Xinjian captured. Barbarossa emerged and hurries panzer in Xinjian. Nanking captured. Lux. raised by 10% Sci. down by 10%. Note: i used science/luxury sliders every now and then but didn't document all moves.

Chinese ironclads become a nuisance. Shangtung captured with heavy losses. Ningpo captured. Anyang captured. New Shanghai captured. Yangchow captured. New Beijing captured, lost 2 panzers. New Nanking captured. New Canton captured, lost panzer. New Tsingtao captured. Richthoffen emerges and hurries panzer in Kiev.

11/1856AD

China and Rome sign MPP. We learn ecology. Started on synthetic Fibers. War weariness starts biting. Autorazed New Chengdu. Lux. up to 50% to combat WW. I don't want any riots now. Amiens captured. Lincoln distracts Rome for horses and iron. RoP with America.

War weariness is getting worse. Terrain and lack of American rail net slowed me down too much. Ravenna captured, lost panzer. Lutetia captured. I have to kill research to get lux. up to 60%. War weariness is too much.

19/1872AD

Rome flips, lost panzer. Taking Rome back got GL Hengest. Hengest hurries panzer in Dortmund. Pisae captured. Lugdunum captured, lost panzer. Americans are bringing troops between me and the Romans, thus slowing down the attack.

Next player can finish off Americans. Shouldn't be a difficult task. I took a huge risk taking on France and China so early but it paid off. Capture Houston first to get rubber away from Abe.

I think I could have played it to the end in few more turns, but clock was already 1:25 in the morning and I had to wake up at 6:45 to go to work.
