Preturn...I change Rheims to a settler due in 3...Grenoble to
a settler due in 1.
Continuing Hotrod's turn, I declare war on Rome and we take
Lugdunum...yes, take. Size two fishing village with two workers
out front. I doubt razing it would give more. We raze Lutetia.
Total worker gain so far...6! We raze Byzantium and get 3 more
workers. 9 now. No losses and just one retreat so far. Lot's of
units scattered near Viroconium though, that I must clean up
before moving further. we clean up some units then raze Viro...
amazingly fine rolls so far. 12 workers gained. 3 cities razed.
One city taken. 4 weak Roman units remain behind the lines.
IT Babs now want 30gpt for their Incense, up 2gpt. Rome kills off
2 Med Inf that I left in the open (I didn't realize that 2/3 of their
movement had been used up). A cav withstands two Roman archers and
a spear...from a Mountain!
(1)1160AD No mercy now, we raze Syracuse. +3 workers for +15.
We take my first offensive loss, cav against knight in the open.
Democracy in 1 so I can back off science a bit.
IT We lose one Cav to counterattack. Most Roman units concentrated
to the North. We get Democracy, go for TOG due in 9.
(2)1170AD We raze Ravenna with one loss. +4 workers for +19.
Just one Pike left in Brundisium and it is dispatched without loss.
+2 workers for +21. We fall back a bit to let our wounded heal.
Rome down to 6 cities.
IT War Weariness hits in 5 cities, but not our Wonder city Orleans.
(3)1180AD We take Tarantum, a well placed size 2 city that doesn't
figure to give us many workers.
IT The Vikes figure their world map is worth ours plus Democracy...
I laugh in their general direction.
(4)1190AD Just shuffling the troops and settling the now unclaimed
areas.
(5)1200AD Still shuffling and healing. No new techs for sale yet.
(6)1210AD Our now fresh troops take Cumae and that pushes Rome to
the East Coast. +4 workers for +25. We upgrade a Pike to Muskateer
and I'll send him to the front for an easy kill at the end of the
war. We raze Pompeii with no loss for +5 workers. Now +30 for the
Roman ambush. We get three more workers on a hill and are now +33.
IT No Roman counter and we should be ready to eliminate them.
(7)1220AD Massing for the attack on Veii.
IT Unbelievably, we get Smith's! That's a huge help for us! We
get about +40gpt for it and now can back off a science, still get
TOG in 3 but at +143gpt.
(8)1230AD Seven cav into Veii, it's the capital so may not be
enough...wow, only three Pike defenders. We lose one cav but
raze Veii. +3 workers for +36. We can't fill the with settlers
fast enough
IT I see an English settler pair on the way but I started filling
from the North so they have a long way to travel.
(9)1240AD Readying for the new Roman capital of Neapolis.
IT War weariness hits us bad, but we're so close. I'll up lux
for a few turns. Lux temporarily to 30% with an entertainer only
in Nantes. WW at 38% now so we'd better finish off Rome before
the next wave hits.
(10)1250AD My only slightly bad outcome as we lose two cav taking
Neapolis...but it is razed. +3 workers for +39. Well crap, just
this last interturn the world went crazy. Everyone now has TOG, 1
turn before us...and, somehow, Democracy. I tell you, the world was
completely broke my entire reign so this is just bad luck. Oh well.
I was so upset I left three cannons in the open. Crap again. Still,
Rome hasn't had a knight in quite some time so I think they are safe.
The Muskateer is still three turns away from battle. If war weariness
will cooperate, we could knock Hispalis down and wait for him to get
there. A GA with Rome dead would be perfect. Many settlers on the
way but many more needed. I had to slow down to build some defense
for the new cities.
39 workers Lee, hope that puts a smile on your face
