LK47 - Open SG - 1.21 patch, emperor, 2CC conquest, China

Reality is that this will end as a conquest victory.

When riders arrive, expect to see a lot of dead civs.

====================================

50 AD (Pre-turn) - I swap Shanghai to finish the last building of a cathedral. I mm to speed up its poor growth.
(I) We couldn't care, but the GL gives us Republic for free.
We also get feudalism for free.

130 AD - Namp'o is razed costing a mi and horseman.

150 AD (I) - Well we are not ready to deal with Greece, so I give them wm and $65. I don't want to fight Greece until riders.

170 AD - Pusan holds with 1hp spearman showing.

190 AD (I) - We get Theology from the GL.

210 AD (I) - GACK - Greek borders expand and we lose dyes.

Summary: Troops are gathering for the second assault on Pusan.
I am building horseman looking toward upgrades to Riders.

ChrTh: Considering part of the title is "2CC conquest", I'd imagine the intended victory is....conquest :)

I certainly can't see a diplomatic victory happening now, spacerace would take ages, and 20k cultural has probably been missed. So, I think conquest it is.

What about 100k Cultural? ;)

Speaker: Winning a 100k cultural win with less than six cities is not possible, since you'd always trigger a 20k win first :)

-Sirp.

Woah, just had a great idea for a variant. "Dueling Cities." You have two cities that are competing to win by 20k. It would probably have to be played on a lower level, maybe Monarch, but you would basically play OCC 20k style, but with two cities competing against each other to get to 20k first. The difficulty being that you have to amass a ton of culture in two cities, not just one. I think I might just try it out as a solo game. Sorry to threadjack. Now back to your regularly-scheduled programming.

(1) 260 AD-
The people love us.

Troops mass at Pusan border.

IBT-
Greece sending lots of troops towards Leptis Magna...they are not at war and not sure who they are going to attack, but it isn't us. :)

Wang Kon comes begging for peace, but we won't give it to him, yet or maybe ever!

(2) 270 AD-
Beijing horse->horse

Battle for Pusan:
4/4 MDI vs. 3/3 Spear we win MDI goes 3/4.
4/4 Horse vs. 3/3 Spear we win without a scratch. Pusan is razed we get a Korean slave to work the fields.

Not sure how to proceed next with Korea...give them peace since any attack would either require an RoP with someone or some boats that we don't have.

Korea doesn't have much to offer for peace especially since we can't take cities for peace. I decide to wait and bring our troops back home.

(3) 280 AD-
Shanghai Cathedral->Horse

IBT -
GL teaches us Invention
2 Korean MDI's outside Beijing.

(4) 290 AD-
Beijing Horse->Horse

4/4 Horse vs. 3/3 MDI we lose redlining and retreating.
4/4 Horse vs. 3/3 MDI we lose redlining and retreating. MDI loses 1 HP.
5/5 Horse vs. 3/3 MDI we win go to 3/5.
4/4 Horse vs. 2/3 MDI we lose redlining and retreating.
4/4 Horse vs. 2/3 MDI we win without a scratch.

(5) 300 AD/B]-
Nothing.

(6) 310 AD-
Nothing much

IBT-
Greek declare on Arabs!!! :-)
Greeks take Kufah.

(7) 320 AD-
Sign RoP with Arabs to attack Korean mainland. The RoP costs us WM and 75 GP. I think once the Koreans are gone we can join the Arabs against Greece. Hopefully by then we'll have Riders.

4/4 Horse vs. 3/3 Pike we lose redlining and retreating.
4/4 Horse vs. 3/3 Pike we lose dying and Pike loses 1 hp.
4/4 Horse vs. 2/3 Pike we win going 2/4 and capture two more Korean slaves.

IBT -
Carthaginian’s start Leo’s.
Arabs retake Kufah.

(8) 330 AD-
Position troops.

IBT -
Carthage asks us to please get off their land and we oblige.

(9) 340 AD-

Move troops closer to Korea.

(10) 350 AD-

8 Horses outside Korean border. 3 MDI and 3 more Horsies on their way. 2 horses due in 2 turns.

After Seoul, Pyongyang, and Wusan fall the Koreans are basically over. I don't think we can get to Cheju anytime soon to totally annihilate them. However, my hope is that we will have Chivalry by then so that we can upgrade our horses to Riders and start pumping them out for the destruction of Greece and the rest will follow suit afterwards. :D

Save

Here is our troops massing at the Korean border and a stream of Greek soldiers heading to Arabia.
LK47-350AD.jpg

Only one more patch of jungle to clear near Shanghai...two more near Beijing. Might want to merge one or two german workers once jungle near Shanghai is cleared. Also might want to consider building courthouse in Shanghai to reduce corruption.

Ok, who wants China next?

If we run out of worker tasks we can always improve the road next toward our enemies.

=======================

I hope Greece and Arabia do a good job of beating each other to death.

Still looking for a leader for China.
It is to soon for me or Despot to take.

Got it.
Will see what I can make of the Chinese horse-machine.

Grimjack

350AD(0) Not much has changed since Grimjacks last reign some 300 years ago. ONly thing is that we have
gone on the offensive, and Koreans have felt the might of Chinese ancients.

IBT: People rejoice in Grimjacks return so much, they build a wing for him on th efar left of the palace.

360AD(1): Move horses into position by Seoul, and pillage a korean improvement. NO sense in not pillaging when
I have the moves to do it, since we would never be able to use the improvements.
We are up theology on Carthage, but all they can offer is 17 gold and world map. They will not learn this.

IBT: Watch greeks occupy iron hill for arabs. Horses ready, more ordered. Jungle by Shanghai cleared, reveals
ordinary grass.

370AD(2): Horse vs pike, horse redlines but wins
Horse vs spear Wins without damage
Horse vs spear wins without damage, :hammer:
LK47.jpg

WHopping with glee, our proud horsemen are ordered to raze and plunder. Lighthouse is no more.
Rest of our forces that didn't manage to plunder rich city shops of arch enemy Korea, pillage
lands in frustration.

IBT: Lots of Greeks are looking for the warm northlands. Are they a migratory species. Ack, greeks pillage
iron hill for arabs. This is not very good, as we used that road for our troop movement.

380AD(3): The single wounded horse gets to escort our two new workers back to our sprawl.
Ack, Pyongyang has grown to size 7. That cannot be good. Think I will need the two fullbacks for this
assault.
Sell our world map to the AIs, so they will not think we have forgotten them. This nets us a whole gc.
In spite of losses, Korea is still a Republic. Wonder how they deal with war wearines.

IBT: A Korean Maceman makes a sortie out of Wonsan, but impales himself on the spears of our scouting horseman
on a hill. Our horse gets one hit and a promotion. :hammer:

390AD(4): I join the two German workers to Shanghai, and wonder above wonders, we reach 15 spt.

IBT: Arabs attack with a redlined longbow against a greek regular maceman, and wins with a promotion. RNG is
really really weird tonight.

400AD(5) In what will become known as 'The slaughter of PyongYang" we lose both our macemen against the pike.
We also lose two horse, and retreat four more, before we finally defeats the last recalcitrant pikeman.
As fitting punishment, Pyongyang is razed to the ground.
As tribute, we take five workers.
Double oops, Arabia has Education. On the other hand, Greece got gunpowder. No one has Chivalry. This could be bad.
Carthage and Korea on the other hand are broke. Since Greeca and ARabia are warring, we will get one or the other of those
trechs as soon as they beg for peace. Since trhe fighting is in Arabia lands, odds are we will get Education sooner
rather than later from our Great Library. We can research Chivalry in 18 turns.

IBT: Sparta completes Sun Tzu. We hook up our second silks.

410AD(6) I sell our silks to ARabia ( Since we already have a deal with them. ) for Furs,Incense and 25 gold. This lets
us set lux taxes to zero. Our remaining horsemen in Korea is orderd to rest and recuperate before th efinal assault.

IBT: Carthaginians start Leonardo's, as do ARabs.

420AD(7) We are not quite rested yet. ONe of the wounded horsemen is sent back with our five workers.

IBT: Watch while Greece and Arabia kick the snot out of each others Medieval infantry.

430AD(8) Start to move horsemen into position outside WOnsan. Carthage still doesn't have Theology, and since they have no
money, they also will not have Gunpowder any time soon. I start to research Chivalry at a moderate cost. We will need the
riders to bloody Greeces forces.

IBT: Oooo noo, Korea lands an invasion force at our mainland. A whole horse. It is in position to pillage our own
horses though, so prudent action is required.

440AD(9): A veteran horse from Shanghai removes that problem permanently.
I switch Beijing to Medieval Infantry, in order to not waste som many shields. I think we can use a few Medievals if next leader
vetoes my decision to self research Chivalry. In my opinion, Hoplites is not very much impressed by horsemen.

IBT: Arab and Greece go mushy mushy, and declare peace. Real soon now, we will get education.

450AD(10) OUr last medieval attacker redlines before bashing in the heads of the first spear in Wonsan.
First veteran horse lose four in a row after redlining defender
Leaderfishing with our elite horse nets us nothing but a razed city. Koreans are banished from our continent.
Next turn we will get Education and Gunpowder.

Comments to next leader. SHanghai could probably use a courthouse real soon now. LIbrary in SHanghai would possibly also be good,
considering we will have to do our own research soon. I have not issued any peace with Korea. I cannot see anything they have that
we want.
Since we soon will have cleared the last jungle we can possibly use, time to road up with our workers, before
they hibernate until Hospitals if the game ever carries on that long. You might wanty to go deficit research.
It is however a few turns before we have redeployed our army.

Good luck to next leader.

Grimjack.

Two down :)

:hmm: Which civ next?
I agree - we need riders and a GA to take out any of the remaining civs.

We may have to research it ourselves, but NOT at a deficit. We need lots up cash to create instant riders.

Who want the next round of China?

Yeah I recommend researching chivalry ourselves, since the other civs have been fairly gassed with all the wars, and anyway, riders vs no knights would give us a HUGE advantage. I was thinking on the turn I played, just for pillaing they'd be great - start on a mountain, come off the mountain, pillage, move back on the mountain. Even without attacking, the economic damage they could inflict would be awesome.

-Sirp.

We have some 1800 gold. I have not set research at deficit, but at a modest positive income. That made Chivalry due in 20 turns.

Since Greece and Arabia has Gunpowder, I would hesitate before tangling with them with only horses....

Grimjack

Two post with comments, but neither a "got it".

Who wants China next?

I don't know why Sirp's 2 open games did so well, and this once hasn't. This will be my only attempt to bring back open games in the LK series.

I am forced into a got it to keep the game going, and that is not what I wanted from the open game format this time.

450 AD (Pre-turn) - That last city of Korea is in too awkward a spot, so I sign peace with Korea for a mere $3 and wm. They are no longer a player.
(I) The Great Library dies as we get Education and Gunpowder.
Greece builds Sistine Chapel.

510 AD (I) - Greece starts Copernicus.

520 AD (I) - Arabia ends the RoP that I see having no value at this point.

Summary:
10 turns are really fast when you simply build units. ;)

Chivalry in 5 and 19 horsemen ready to upgrade.
The next player gets to play with Riders and a golden age.
