LK65 - Demigod - world map

Pre-turn. Well, not much to do except hit enter. We're just finishing up the war against France (Yes, I see the Alliances). Zulus are off-limits, so that just leaves the Songhai, or else start invading the Americas. 12 more turns on a deal with the Songhai??? Well, no real choice then. I do rush a bunch of builds in the SE Islands so they will be more self-sufficient. I also see New Zealand is still unsettled?? Strange.

IT: Our Galleons bravely fight off 3 French Frigate Attacks off of Ireland without a loss! But a frigate gets sunk off of Gibralter by the Frenchies (how have quite a fleet left, btw!)

1555: In the Battle for Rouen (Ireland) we lose 2 Cavs and a bunch more retreat, but we capture the city and the FRENCH ARE GONE! :) It is going to help not having all those Pink Frigates wandering around. Set up an attack on Germany (England) next turn. Continue the Great Siberian Railroad project, with (as Grimjack stated) double or triple-wide rails so we don't have blockages from wandering AI units. Do a round of map-trading and Diplo-checking...still no new techs out there. Sign an ROP with the Zulu to help with railing project. The last Zulu city to the Bering Straight is the middle of a big Zulu-Aztec war, which is not helping matters.

1560: Argentina demands Saltpeter. I cave simply because I don't want a phoney war with a powerful non-neighbor who could start a dogpile remotely. Still railin' in Siberia. Declare war on Germany and lose 1 Cav against stacks of Pikes and Spears in Salzburg (England), but kill 3 so far.

1565: Capture Salzburg with no further problems, although there were 6 more defenders inside. Capture Novovibirsk (Scotland) and England is ours. Germans only have 2 cities left. We have connection! The Trans-Eurasia Railway is finished, from Portugal to the Bering Sea. Start shipping some units and most importantly...some more workers over to help out roading in Alaska.

1570: We stop our 4-way Lux deal with the Aztecs, as I assume we will be going to war with them soon? This will throw us out of many WLTK days. Stage an invasion on the last available German city (Iceland). They have a single square city-island in the mid-Atlantic, so unfortunately we can't get rid of them. Ship more troops over to Alaska. We can get Spice from the Iros, but they may be next on our hit list? Rush a bunch of Aqueducts in our SE Islands to start building up our population for the domination limit. Speaking of Domination limit...I'm sending a Settler boat to New Zealand. I don't know if they will get there before anyone else though.

1575: Land an invasion force by Dortmund. Try to clear out all our workers around the Aztec cities in Siberia in case War is declared.

We can now declare war on the Aztecs (last deal expired this turn). I left all our armies unmoved (near our Capital) for the next leader if they want to attack this turn. Beware of the HUGE stack of Aztec Frigates in the Bering Straight.
The save at 1575 (still 1.15 right now, btw)

I couldn't disable 100K win. We need to avoid the culture leaders for as long as possible. Don't attack the Zulu.

The great Siberian railroad is finished. :)

I didn't think it could be done that fast. Go get them.

and getting rid of the french will save minutes every IT, when they do not have to move their ships around.

Grimjack

Great job so far guys, whats the story in the Americas? is there a dominant civ there? Because it would be hard to take them over if thats the case. Anyways i'll go back to lurking, I just spend the entire night reading this game.

1575 AD
I make very little changes except for canceling a handful of useless worker actions. My goals for 5 turns are to continue to push troops into America, continue to rail Siberia, and look for chances to gain more cities.
(IT) I took a nap.

1580 AD
We capture Dortmund from the Germans. This puts Germany down to a one island city, so I sign peace for chump change.

I use our money to rush frigates in cities with harbors. The amount of Aztec frigates is scary.
(IT) I took a nap.

1585 AD
:hmm: Not being at war this late in the game is weird. We can hit the Songhai in a few, the Aztecs now, and Babylon shortly. I don't feel we quite ready to fight the Aztecs.

(IT) Is something supposed to happen between turns?

1590 AD
Kohalpur2 is formed in North America.

Babylon has almost no cash to offer at this point.
We capture Nineveh, Ebla, Adab, Hindana, Ellipi, New Buenos Aries, Karana, Mari, and Samarra.

We razed Carchemish as I don't want to deal with a size 9 city being captured.

Babylon is down to his Mediterranean hideout. I rush 2 galleons nearby, so that the city will die shortly.

We also captured a few more workers.
(IT) I don't know why the Aztecs are demanding we leave immediately. I do so for the moment.

1595 AD
Well I just realized what the Aztec complaint was - the military that captured Babylonian workers inside the Aztec borders.

I decide to do a big rush for spare settlers this turn. I wonder what is on my mind.

1600 AD
I simply sent a lot of the workers to Siberia to thicken the rail-net. That is why you see workers sitting on top of some of the mountains.

Summary:
I have bad news for the Songhai. Our last deal expires in 2 turns. I wonder what could happen.

Microbe gets the big decision - Aztecs or Songhai next. If the Aztecs, we should ally with the rest of America to dog pile them.

During my last turn we were at 24% world and 22% population. We are now at 39% world and 34% population. For a world map game that is a significant jump over 25 turns. We will have to kill / cripple at least two more major civs to win. Please continue to avoid the Zulu and an accidental culture win.

I would say go for both. We will advance faster than we can move our troops anyway, so we might just as well advance in both directions.

Grimjack

Well don't forget we can take out several Aztec cities in Siberia. We could go mostly defensive vs. the Aztecs and let me waste his troops against the other Iroquous and Argentina.

Either way the action really heats up during Microbe's turn. Please do me a favor and kill Babylon. ;)

Preturn: With our forces at Aztecs, I decide to declare now. It has two lux and I don't want to wait 2 turns to declare. Hopefully we can do both. :)

So I ask Aztecs to leave and it declares war.

I ship wines to Iros for MA and 38gpt. Wines to Argentina for MA and 56gpt.

@Siberia
Elephant army razes Nina.
Elephant army and cav army raze Dakyanus.
Two cavs autoraze Ushuaia.
Lose one cav, a cav army capture Brest.
Aztecs are cleared from our continent.

@America:
Cannons bombard and we kill 2 cavs in the open.
3 cavs capture Kansas.
2 cavs capture Cleveland. It has furs in the second ring, so a temple will be rushed next turn. It also has a saltpeter, but Aztecs has at least another source.
We lose an elite cav in attacking vet cav in Richmond, but another elite cav kills it and gets us a leader. Vet cav captures Richmond and promotes itself.
2 cavs also capture San Diego.
cav army and a cav raze Reconquista.

9 cities - good enough for this turn!

There are 2 Aztec frigates and one caraval nearby, and we bombard them. However, two frigates lose to the caravel!

IBT: We lose San Diego to Aztecs - our rifles couldn't reach it this turn.

We found a new source of saltpeter.

(1)1605AD:
2 cav armies raze Tequixquiac. 2 settlers in it. We get 10 slaves.
We raze San Diego, then found a town ourselves to claim the furs immediately. We now control 7 lux.
Raze Jilotzingo.

Our 7 cavs cannot take the last Babylon city.

Transport loads of units to America.

Argentina/Songhai have Electricity. We have 12 turns to go. We can build ToE in 13 turns, and we should be able to research Sci Method in about 5 turns, so next player should start the prebuild.

IBT Aztecs and Zulu make peace. No counter.

We found a new source of saltpeter.
We saw a resource move? I haven't seen that in a long time.

(2)1610AD:
2 cavs capture Formosa.
Cav arny razes Tandil.
With a lot of retreats and one cav loss we raze Coyotepec.

I ask Songhai to leave our territory, and he declares war. I like those AIs. :)

Wines to Zulu for MA against Songhai and 24gpt.

3 cav armies and a cav kill 4 rifles and 3 cavs, and raze Thebes. We lose 2 cavs.
A single cav army razes New lbabanago.
2 cav armies raze Memphis.
Lose one cav and raze Heliopolis.
2 cav armies raze Taudene.
1 cav army and 2 elephant armies raze Awlil.
cav army razes Bonn.

I ask Songhai to leave our territory, and he declares war. I like those AIs.
I don't have the game up, but do these include those stray Songhai cities in Siberia. I know they have at least a few ex-Greek cities up there.

Go! Go! Go! Warmonger Microbe! :ar15: :hammer: :sniper:
The Indian Kingdom has been peaceful for far too long! Our elephants miss the feel of squishy foreigners under their feet!

:hmm: There was a year or two of peace during my turns. That is to long?

Our 7 cavs cannot take the last Babylon city.
Well I hope more are on the way. I like seeing a totally destroyed civ on the world map. :D

Only 22 cities captured/razed, are you taking it easy on them AIs ? :) :p

LKendter said:

Yes. I counted 9 turns of peace on our two watches, because Germany was so small an action it should be considered a "military exercise"! (We didn't even wake up our armies for it).

:hmm:
Well Babylon could also be argued as a military exercise, except the armies did most of the work. I needed that 4th movement point quite a bit.

However, the bloodlust is going. Between the Aztecs and Songhai there will be plenty of bloodshed. Most of it theirs. :hammer:

Another game where we won't see tanks. We may not even see infantry at this snails paced tech.

IBT: our newly founded city is razed by Songhai. I should not have founded the town until we clean up all the counter attacking units. It gave them the best target, otherwise they may just have turned to Zulu. My bad.
Zulu cavs revenge for us and kill a lot of Songhai cavs.

(3)1615AD:
@Songhai:
There are about 16 Songhai cavs in sight and we kill them.
A lot of units in Giza but we raze it.

@Aztec:
Lose one cav and we raze Pasadas. The advance will not be very fast as there are mostly mountains.
army kills 4 musket but Concordia still holds.

Songhai landed 4 cavs next to Busiris which is on a 3-tile island. We have one reg rifle. We'll lose it and I will just ignore it right now.

Mostly a healing turn.

I spend about 1500g rushing some cavs.

IBT Lots of Aztec unit movement. 3 knights and a longbow landed next to Dortmund. Iro and Songhai MA vs Australia. Busiris falls as expected. We have no other counter.
