Here comes the game. Hope you can get it before the forum closes. If I do not know, I will send mail after forum closes.
I come to a not so good start, as I misclick and ship incense to the Argentineans. They pay us decently for it though. ( 100 + 11 gpt ).
Not much to do before hitting End of turn. I do some partial rushes by way of Longbow. Things sure have progressed from the last time I played.
I do switch the entertainers into taxmen.
IBT: Songhai and France ally against Egypt. Songhai signs in Zulu against the Egyptians.
860AD: Nothing much happens. I move troops into position for besieging two Babylonian cities, and a lot of MM.
IBT: Egypt signs up Greece against Zulus
870 Siege of Uruk reveals two redlined regular Muskets, and at least two wounded veteran spearmen. Good enough odds for a charge later after all siege is done. Siege of Samarra reveals at least two veteran Muskets. I will see if the wounded appears after our army deals with the unwounded veteran.
I lose one WE in the battle for Uruk, but Uruk is now ours. I will make sure to not station more than single troops in it until we have dealt firmly with the Babylonians. ( There are AI settlers in the neighbourhood, or I would have razed. We gain two Trebs by capturing this. I then capture another Treb heading towards Uruk guarded by a Musket.
I have almost spent my inheritance. Our coffers have shrunk from 2500 to 850 due to mainly rushing Muskets in the front, partial rushes in the core, and culture in the southeast. I will stop the rush mania for a short while, so that we have money should a good twofer present itself. I am not terribly motivated to tech though, as with our Elephants we ought to be able to pointy stick for quite some while.
I do not trust the trade routes to Russia, so she gets to keep her 21 gpt for at least two more turns, when I intend to sell her a tech.
We can get Astronomy from Chinese for some 100 gpt, salt and Music Theory. Tempting, but no thanks.
IBT: Quiet.
880 Samarra falls to the mighty tusks of our Elephants, and is razed. We have settlers prepared, that will reach in two turns.
IBT: So much for that small window. China comes and demands Saltpeter. This is a 100gpt equivalent demand. I know they have riders, and we have only a skeleton defense, so I cave and write China on the top of the list of nations we should do something about.
Greek settlers come running trying to fill in the gap from the Babylonian city.
Babylon, Persia and Egypt sign peaces.
890 Large amounts of Trebuchets make us lose nothing as we capture Nippur. Once again, main reason is no settlers nearby. I will station an Ancient in it, and the WE outside to recapture if need be.
We are running out of Babylonians. The known Babylonian cities is on the other side of Persia. I will aim our army against Persia and Egypt, as those looks weak.
IBT: I am annoyed. The greeks steal the free spot where I razed the Babylonian city. They ignored my blockade by settling inside their own cultural borders.
900 I raze the Babylonian city of Ellipi, and plant a city of my own next to the ruins. We are up to new Bombay now.
910 I discover Persia is bribing us for something, so I redirect my forces, and declare war against Greece after signing peace with Babylon. I grab two cities in the peace deal, prepared to abandon them should they be indefensible.
IBT: Persia declare on the Greeks
We get Bach¡¦s, and I suspect most of our possible happiness problems are over for a long time. Most of the cascade dies, but Zulu start Copernicus
920 This is likely to be bloody, but I start the siege of Delphi without artillery support. Greece has no iron, nor Saltpeter. One of the three Hoplites manages to defeat a WE, but is redlined, and city is defended by a longbow when our Ancient cavalry strikes.
Looking at our cities, I see we are totally happy º
930 No battles. Continue to move troops into position. I am hesitant about Persia or China, but I move some troops close to Persia for the next player. A possible target could be Zulu, but they are very strong, and have many many muskets. I use both our armies to punch a hole in the defenses of Athens, and we own this seat of power as well. A stubborn longbow almost manages to kill a veteran Elephant. I am starting to get tired of the no deals, but I manage to hold my itching trade fingers. There is no NEED for Astronomy now. We are not interested in Copernicus, and can manage with Galleys. It is a long time to wait for banking though, and our prebuild will not last that long.
IBT: Montezuma of the Aztecs wants us to send them incense. I decline, and they were bluffing.
940 I found New Bangalore to get a water channel to the Black sea. France and China have Banking, so it may be time to pay attention on the trading scene. Banking would be some 250 gpt. This would also get us Astronomy, better securing traderoutes. I sell Engineering to America for some spare change. I decide we want banks sooner rather than later, and I pay up Incense save us 22 gpt, so I include that in the deal, and pray for the trade route to not be broken. Trade route is through Germany, or through Songhai+Zulu waters. Or a twisted route through the American waters. I miscalculated and I need to pay another 55 gpt for Astronomy to the Zulus. I discover that Physics is out in the wild. I make another deal, and sell Banking, 44 gpt and peace renegotiation to Egypt for Physics. If you want to live dangerously, then sell iron and horses to Egypt for a lot of money. Egypt is at the bottom of a dogpile, and we do not know where their harbour is.
France, China, Zululand and Egypt are the apparent tech leaders, and China looks like a real monster to be. They are of course next to us, and may not be around for much longer due to this dangerous influence.
I pay 164 gpt for a 32 turn research into Economics. This will fit nicely with our 36 turn prebuild. If you want to take a chance, and see if we can net a monopoly tech, then drive the research up as far as we can afford.
950 Hmm, I missed Pune rioting for some reason. I thought I had gone through all our cities.
I capture Sparta, since I do not believe in the extended lifespan of the greeks. I lose a War Elephant in the siege of Corinth, but we gain control. ( Defended by three Hoplites on a hill. )
Note that we have one elephant inside Persian borders far in the north. Do not declare on Persians until this is moved. Otherwise, there are two large stacks of troops just outside Persian borders, and you can do some major mayhem upon them. Or you can spend your turn building infra, and position troops for a huge strike at the Chinese in ten turns when deals with them run out. ( One stack is outside Bactra, and one stack is outside Heidelburg. Our two armies should be used to take out the last Greek cities in Europe. The greeks have five cities left. I suggest you sign up as many as possible to strike against them, to eliminate the flip risk.
It is starting to be a time to make some research by ourselves, in case you no longer wish to warmonger, then a couple of sneaked in libraries would be fine. They could be fine even if we do not research, since we could use the culture.
Also, remember to put the research slider where you want it. I am afraid the AIs will spend their research time on Democracy, so there is a slight chance there wont be any Economics when our prebuild completes. That¡¦s why I started the research.
Grimjack out.
Here is the save.
