LK65 - Demigod - world map

The save game editor seems to work. Now I haven't tried to modify any shield boxes or unit assignments etc.
I'm sure it would work for this purpose though.
I don't know if I would try to do much else with it though until Gramphos works on it some more. ;)

Edit:
If you guys do try it, just make sure you get version 1.10 which is what's linked in my previous post. It seems to work with 1.22 saves as well.

The question was if it was worth burning our entire treasury for a steal attempt of Chivalry.
Would the steal succeed, I suspect we would not ever again have monetary troubles, as we could use the money to keep up the edge in tech.
I will refrain from stealing, and see when/if I can wrangle a gpt deal instead.

Just out of curiosity LK, what is your all-time w-l record?

It's good to see you still chugging along with your SGs...

LOSS - 2 = LK44, LK58

LK65, Part 2, the great wait

400AD We can actually buy Chivalry from France, but it would involve iron, and I do not particularly trust the trade routes to France.
Too bad. It is a great time to buy, since next turn France will have sold to all who have money.

IBT: Russia and Babylon gets to be friendly, and declare on the same enemies.
I start a Palace prebuild in Bangalore. With the GA coming close, we could very well nab Sistines or JS Bachs. I do nto think the prebuild can last until Smiths, but one can hope.

410AD For some obscure reason, France has NOT spread Chivalry around. Thus I still cannot afford it unless I pay iron in the deal.

420AD Zululand and Egypt has also learned Chivalry now. It is time to buy. Zulu wants 15 gpt and 2870 gold, Egypt 8 gpt and 2870 gold, France wants iron and 1650 gold.
I can pay France 111 gpt and 511 gold, or Egypt 111 gpt and 745 gold. I will pay Egypt, since they are on the receiving end of a dogpile, and may not survive the full 20 turns.
( I can always hope. )
Then I trade Chivalry and 5 gpt to Greece for Engineering
I discover Invention is out there as well. Germany and Russia both lack Chivalry, but have Invention. I almost trust the trade roads to Russia, but in the end decide they are too unreliable to trust our rep upon.
I trade 1277 gold and Chivalry to Russia for Invention. I empty Babylons coffers by trading hime Chivalry for all his gold. ( 1100 ) I will use his gold to upgrade Elephants and take his cities :evil:
Zulu and France is still up Gunpowder. I suspect Zulus of being the research powerhouses. ( Or perhaps Songhai. We havnät met them yet. )

IBT: Ack Babylon and France sign peace. Thats not good.

430 I move my troops into position for a solid first strike on Babylon.

IBT: Nothing at all noteworthy.

440AD I declare on Babylon, so we get a nice fat window before they get gunpowder. As predicted, GA starts. Income jumps from 16 gpt to 120 !!.

450AD Movement on Shurupakk. We have three medievals that can strike this turn, but if there are two pikemen in Shuru, we better wait one turn so entire force can attack.

I found some iron in the south, and a galley with a settler is on its way, while the warrior/settlerpair is heading away to one river corner.

Also, If we wanted some more safety against Babylonians, we should sign in the Persians. I on the other hand recommend we grab the two Babylonian close cities, sign peace for Gunpowder, and then strike Persia with the aim of taking them out.

Note: Bombay could finish Knights Templar in just a few turns. I chose instead to have a couple of Elephants NOW. It is a questionable decision though, as the Crusaders are really a very good unit.
Especially if we want to build lots of Infra.

Elephants galore

I agree 100%. We really aren't up to large campaigns at this time. Long wars risk a landing, and much of our perimeter has to little defense / counter-attack force. Each of these shorts wars are helping, as we keep building our city base and resource / luxury base. The workers we have picked up have been nice to.

I will use his gold to upgrade Elephants and take his cities
Pure evil, I love it. :goodjob:

====================

Especially if we want to build lots of Infra.
This is the perfect chance to further improve our empire. If we can get aqueducts, and courthouses (in marginal cities), it would really help.

Lurker question:
Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but won't your rep be toast if Egypt dies before the 20 turns is up? If it was for resources like horses or lux etc. it would be cool, but since it's tech.....
Did they fix this in C3C or am I confused?? (Which is a strong possibility.) :lol:

:hmm: You may be right. I know to stop sending luxuries / resource paid for up front kills you. I can't remember on tech.

I know you can ally vs. a dying civ and get a short payment without any harm. We should probably watch this one more carefully in the future.

As far as I know, gpt being defaulted due to a nation dying, does not impinge on your rep, as gold trade happens after check for valid recipient.

Resources traded to a dying nation would toast your rep though.

I will need to test to make sure, but I am 90% certain the concensus in PTW was that gpt deals to dying natuions did not hurt your rep.
( While lux/resource deals did. )

I see it. I want to give this set of turns the full attention it deserves (Golden Age...woohoo!), so I'll try to finish up tomorrow night. ((Still working on my AG3 turn :rolleyes: On the plus side, AG3 makes the *slowest* turn on this world map look like lightning!)) :crazyeye:

RJ, really appreciate your dedication to AG3! We need that to keep that monster game moving. Each line of your report probably represents several hours of work. ;) :thumbsup:

It sounds like if you had two computers, you could fit in one turn of this in the IBT of the other game :)

Grimjack

:lol: Yeah! The 2 computer setup would work, except for one small problem:
If my wife caught me playing this game on her computer....:eek: :mutant: :slay:
Let's just say it wouldn't be a pretty sight.

Your reputation gets damaged if you are exporting *any* resource for *any* reason (even if it was a gift or a demand), and the trade terminates for any reason - including the death of the recipient civ - other than the recipient declaring war on you. What you received for the resource is absolutely irrelevant.

This *only* applies to resources. If you're paying simple gold to a civ that dies, your reputation is unaffected.

Preturn: Everything looks good (Of course, everything usually looks good in a Golden Age and taking over from Grimjack!) The Babs look to be coming down with a serious disease newly classified as "Elephantitus Stampedeious". :D I can't understand why Indonesia hasn't been settled by our rivals a long time ago, but we'll certainly take the opportunity. (Although I hate building settlers during Golden Ages, I'll see if we can squeeze out a few from conquered cities). I'm a sucker for Wonders, especially if they give out free troops. I set Bombay for Knights Templar and hope the casualties from the war aren't too high. I do hit diplo rounds and buy a few workers. We can sell Chivalry to the Aztecs, but not near market price yet.
I do change our prebuild and rush a courthouse there first. An extra 2-3 spt may make all the difference.
I agree on the plan for a short war with Babylon, then turn on Persia, big time.

IT Russia brings in Argentina and Egypt against Greece. Germans & Chinese start Knigts Templar

460 (1) Madras (Tusker->Tusker) Dalan (Pike->Pike) Bengal (Worker->Courthouse) Bangalore (Courthouse->Palace Prebuild) Kill a Bab M.I. in China with 2 Elite Horses (1 Retreat, 1 victory) in an attempt for a leader. Capture Shuruppak from 1 Pike and 1 Spear and capture 2 workers. No losses, (Elite elephant retreat) Clean up a stray Bab Pike and Spear with no losses.
Found Dakka on the Islands, trying to force off the nearby Zulu settler. Sell some techs to the laggards for +600 gold. Sell Chivarly to Aztecs for 9 gold and 47 gpt.

IT Do not renew ROP agreement with Mongolia. Elephant fends off a Bab MI attack and promotes.

470 (2) Delhi (Tusker->Tusker) Almirkh (Barracks->Pike) Antioch (Treb->Treb) Darhan (Market->Aqueduct) Kolhapur (Barracks->Pike) Chittagong (Pike->Courthouse) Found Indus in Indonesia.

IT Bab units come out of the fog to threaten Antioch. Refuse renewal of ROP with Persia.

480 (3) Arbela (Market->Barracks) Kill a Bab MI near Antioch, but a Longbow retreats our Tusker when it tried to finish off this mini-invasion. The great battle for Anyang commences. 5 Tuskers attack, but it is defended by at least 4 Muskets. We were fairly fortunate non-the-less. 3 Muskets killed, 1 Tusker killed, 1 Retreated, 1 promotion.

IT Zulu starts Sistines! They have a monopoly on Theology.

490 (4) Madras (Tusker->Tusker) Dacca(Temple->Harbor) Indus (temple->harbor) Finally captured Anyang after killing two more Muskets and losing another elephant. 2 workers captured and another Gems comes under our control. The harbor was intact. Babylonia finally will talk peace. (Which is good, as I don't want to face any more muskets anytime soon!) This is kinda bad. They are only knocking off 30% of the full price of Gunpowder, which is not very good since there is no 2fer opportunities out there for it. Maybe a couple more turns of safely killing their units while preparing for the Persian war will change their attitude.

IT Paris completes Leos

500 (5) Almarikh(Pike->Pike) Darhan (Aqueduct(rushed)->Barracks) Dalan (Pike->Pike)

IT Germany cascades and takes Knights Templar :mad: We were 3 turns away. Oh well. Bombay changed to our Palace prebuild now. Bangalore switches to Cathedral

510 (6) Delhi (Tusker-Tusker) Arbela (Barracks->Pike) Gordium (Market->Aqueduct) Calcutta(Aqueduct->Courthouse) Lahore (Pike->Worker) Found Iron City II in Indonesia.

520 (7) Madras (Tusker->Tusker) Bangalore(Cathedral->Barracks) Shantung (Temple->Courthouse) Kolhapur(Pike->Market) Invasion force almost ready.

IT China destroys the Mongols! Cleo establishes an embassy with us.

530 (8) 3 Pikes complete, more ordered. Finally make peace with the Babylonians. The price for Gunpowder is still stratospheric, only 30% discount. I refuse to pay that to them without a 2-fer opporunity to get it back. Settle for peace, 2 gold and their city of Zamua. (As expected, an iceberg city in Siberia.) Egypt is down to 2 cities, maybe they will die before collecting all our gold. :) Declare War on Persia and invade. Sink a Persian galley and I hope there was somebody aboard.

540 (9) Darhan(Rax->Tusker) Dalan(Pike->Pike) Bangalore(Rax->Tusker) Conquer Pesepolis from 4 Pikes and capture 2 Slaves with no losses. (Trebs bombarded first) Also kill 2 stray Persian Immortals. Advance on Tyre

IT A bunch of civs sign peace with Egypt. Looks like they'll survive after all. We somehow lost our Spice feed with America. Scroll ahead to aviod riots.

550 (10) Delhi (Cathedral->Elephant) Madras (Elephant->Elephant) Adjust lux tax to 10%. Capture Tyre with a bunch of now wounded Elephants. (no losses, and capture 3 Catapults!) There are a bunch of trade opportunities for our resources, but the trade routes are really volitale, IMO.
Theology has finally been traded around. I blow our whole bankroll buying it cash, then get Gunpowder, Dyes and around 200 gpt for it. (Sorry! I lost my notes on the sequence of trades.) We have Saltpeter already hooked up, just south of Gordium! We have 353 gold and 502 gpt income. Adjust lux slider back down to zero. 50 turn Printing Press gambit started. We still have a shot at Sistines, although I can't investigate the Zulu city that is building it.

The game at 550

Yeay, the Tusk power should be feared.

The extra HP really makes quite a difference. Too bad the babs managed to get Gunpowder so quickly.

Go spank the Persians. They ought to be broken soon judging from RubberJello's slaughter.
