LK65 - Demigod - world map

550 AD
It seems weird to have a civ totally eliminated this early on the world map. The Mongols did a good job with self-destructing.
(IT) Persia razed Zamua. I should have gone with my gut feeling and given the city away as not defendable.

560 AD
I upgrade multiple units to Muskets. We have plenty of cash, and may as well use it to improve out military.

I am not sure why our GPT is rated low with Russia. I have to pay higher then expected for 2 workers.

570 AD
The Zulu and France are clearly the tech leader having Education and Chemistry above us. They must have swapped Monopoly techs. Neither tech is worth the obscene prices they want at the moment.

580 AD
Well I prefer to raze cities, but I can't resist the Statue of Zeus. Pasargadae is now under Indian control. We also get a second elite unit. An elephant army would certainly be nice, especially with that extra hit point.
(IT) We get our first ancient cavalry!

590 AD
Uh, did something happen here?
(IT) Babylon and France ally vs. Russia.

600 AD
We capture Sidon.
(IT) Persia kills a WE - I believe it was an elite WE. :(
Egypt and Russia ally vs. France.

610 AD
We kill a stray unit with and elite, and Lee's Elephant army is formed. [dance]
(IT) Greece and Babylon sign peace.
Germany and Russia sign peace.
The Zulu demand incense - I have enough WE as reserves so I tell him to pound sand - as expected he declares war. War happiness breaks out all over.

620 AD
I continue to shift the troops toward Kazan. We have too many WE to replace with muskets up north, and a lot of healing going on.

630 AD
We now have a victorious army. Delhi switches to the Heroic Epic. We can always use more leaders and armies.
(IT) The idiot demands continue - Argentina was incense. The only thing he could do is drag a neighbor into war. Since I would prefer to attack Babylon or China I tell him where to shove it. The wimp backs down.
OUCH - Another phony war, but France allies with the Zulu against us.

Zeus provides another AC.

The GA has ended. :(

640 AD
We capture Kazan, but no new leaders.

We at least get something from the Zulu war - two free workers. Even a regular Elephant can kill an Impi.
We have built Sistine Chapel. [dance]
I think Bach's will be available in 41 turns, so I start another palace pre-build.

650 AD
A boring turn of healing troops, moving troops to the front, and completing the road gap to the front.

Summary:
REMEMBER the Zulu and French wars. Keep those Elephants around the coast to deal with invasions.

I didn't report it during the turns, but we did get several more workers purchased.

I am not sure how much more of the Persian as the cities will start creating an awkward front to defend. Maybe just raze a lot of Persia cities for more workers. ;)

I would prefer to nail Babylon, but we still have turns of peace. With them already up to Education I think they owe us a tech discount. :satan:

We still have money going to China, so nothing to happen there.

Our core it now up to muskets. We still need to fix the overseas locations. I am starting to ship muskets to the islands. We also are ready to send a couple more settlers that way.

The galley by Calcutta is hoping to make contact with the Songhai. We can see one of their cities.

Nothing like a well timed GA to nab a good wonder in this evil DG world. :)

I think we are keeping up almost better than expected, and we will soon have enough WEs to really do some stompage :)

Sistine with cheap religious churches is really nice. If we get churches in all cities (I built / started more) it will be hard to get hit with war weariness.

====================

I think we are keeping up almost better than expected, and we will soon have enough WEs to really do some stompage
I am in shocked how strong our position is. I had several cities on military as they had NOTHING else to build during the GA. We have absurd GPT coming in. The GA let me get past the expensive spear / pike upgrade to muskets. We have spare WE along the coast to deal with surprises, and still have a decent stack to beat up Persia with.

In fact, I think our only weakness right now is land development. Even that is improving a lot, as southern India should have more size 12 cities with heavy shields soon. I even snuck some irrigation to get our stuck as size 3 city to size 5. I hope we can raze some stupid position cities and / or capture more workers.

The only question right now is will we have coal? With control of the Himalayas, I would hope we have it. No matter how good we do I can't see domination a world map before rails.

Preturn:

If it were me I'd have set max sci to PP, but I'll let the gambit continue.

The world is in turmoil. Everybody seems to be fighting somebody, of course that's what we want.

I move a musketman on top of the iron as a Persia spear is nearby. Seems Lee likes to leave me a stack each time. I move the army into Kazan to heal, and the rest of the stack next to Batshireet. Nothing else to change.

IBT No attack.

(1)660AD: 2 treb miss, and 5-hp WE kills reg pike, redlines but promotes. Still 2 archers left.

We raze Batshireet losing one WE, and capture a treb.

IBT many attacks but we fend off all of them and don't lose any units. However, there are 13 units next to Pasargadae now. They really want their capital back.

Kolhapur riots due to WW.

(2)670AD: I have to make peace with Persia. I get Ghulaman and Borazjan for the concession, and then find out they are built on tundra and one of them is starving at size 2. A French warrior is even next to one of them. I simply abandon them.

So much for the war with Persia. Our peace treaty with Babylon expires in 6 turns so I'm prepare for that. The only issue is we share a pretty long border. I think we need to go offense in the weat line so I'm moveing WEs and trebs there.

Pasargadae expands and steals the iron from Babylon. :goodjob: Great news, Babylon has no iron connected now, but I can still see one source close to Ashur.

IBT France signs in America against us as well. Greece and Germany make peace.

(3)680AD: Germany gets Education too. Move an AC in Babylon to have a peak around Nineveh. I really like to get Eridu with Sun Tzu's in it, but it might be tough. If we are committed to it we need to ally with Greece, otherwise we probably just take Uruk and Hovd instead. Babylon's military is still stronger than us.

IBT Persian and France MA vs Russia. Australia demands incense. I refuse, she backs off as expected.

(4)690AD: Germany has Printing Press but not chemistry. China also gets Education. Both PP and Chemistry are monopoly. Quite expensive but we have to grab this opportunity.

109gpt+3086g from Egypt for Chemistry. Chemistry to Germany for PP+Contact with Iro/Songhai. PP and a bunch of contacts back to Egypt for 94gpt+836g (I take the gpt instead of lumsum to not speed its research up). Chemistry to China for Education.

Some small deals:
Contact with Songhai/Venezuela to Persia for 139g.
Contact with Brazilians/Venezuela/Aztecs/Songhai to Russia for 15gpt+6g.
Contact with Songhai/Austrialians/Babylonians/Persians/Greeks/Chinese to Aztecs for 20gpt+17g.

I sell Theology to Greece for 50g+26gpt.

Summary: 3 techs + full contact for ~1118g. We are the tech lead again and I start min sci on Banking.

Bad news is we cannot extort techs from Babs any more.

I think we should start to do our own research? But I'll leave it to the next leader.

(5)700AD: Indus expands and we get 3 angry barbs. I rush rax in Indus.

Zulu agrees to talk and we pay 160g to make peace. Oh crap, it has Astronomy.

IBT Egypt and Zulu MA vs Babylon. [dance]

Almarikh riots. :(

Zulu and France start Copernicus.

(6)710AD: Buy a Russian worker.

IBT Persia and France MA vs Egypt. Germany and Egypt MA vs Persia. Germany also declares on Russia.

(7)720AD: 3 musketeers and 1 settler come to sight. France agrees to talk. I kill two musketeers. The other muskeeter/settler pair is inside Babylon on a mountain, so I have to use the army to reach it. It kills the reg muskeeter but has only 3 hp left!

I then make peace with France up front. Only the stipid Abe is at war with us now.

MM Antioch to get market 4 turns earlier with -1 food. Before getting market we don't want to grow anyway. Just notice we have 2 scientists working, fire one.

Establish Embassy with Greece by a cheap 43g - it's size 3, +2fpt, 6spt and building a hoplite. Garrisoned by 3 hoplites and 1 treb, together with a settler/galley. No improvement or resources.

IBT Heroic Epic completed.

(8)730AD: boring turn.

IBT Watch Chinese rider captures a Russian town. China is getting big, we need to be prepared.

(9)740AD: Babylon is toasted. It still hasn't connected iron and it also lost horses. Akkad is captured by Egypt and Eridu is now size 3. Many of its cities are shrinking. And MA says our military is about the same size. ;) I suggest we go directly to the west toward Eridu the Sun Tzu's city.

Our army will be fully healed next turn so I'll leave the declaration to next leader.

I found Pune in the east and start temple. After expansion it'll grab two whales and one fish.

IBT Babylon and Russia sign peace. Too late!

Antioch and Kolhapur riot. :wallbash:

(10)750AD: Hmm, we lost the lux from Russia. That's why.
I establish embassy with Argentina. It's size 10, 14gpt and 12fpt. 6 pikemen inside, building a knight. It's not at war.

Also establish embassy with Iroquois just to see where it is. It's size 12 at 2/6/4 (why wouldn't it riot?), 11spt and 7fpt, has 4 pike and also building a knight.

I think the trade route with Argentina is safer, so I get furs+spices from Argentina by PP+20g.

Rush settler in Hyderadad so galley could pick it up next turn. Then I realise I didn't put an escort in the galley. We can borrow the musket in Karachi.

We can make peace with Abe now but he is so backward and broke that we'd better just keep the war happiness.

LK65-750AD

Too bad we couldn't eliminate Persians, but theymust be severely weakened, and will not last long.

Hope we can get the Babs good. SunTzu would make us progress much faster, when newly captured/built cities always come with rax :)

Got it by the way.

If it were me I'd have set max sci to PP, but I'll let the gambit continue.
Pushing the tech pace doesn't pay on the world map. The biggest challenge is time. Our elephants are already doing a great job.

I think we should start to do our own research? But I'll leave it to the next leader.
We have NO libraries - we are not setup for research. I would rather keep on troops. Tech leader doesn't buy much, but big old stack of Elephants does. :D

I think we have several turns of the 20-turn peace left going. Remember the LK rules - no phone peace treaties
However, I would still prepare.

It seems we can declare on Babylon, I do so and wake up an elite WE. It has the pleasure of taking out a babylonian musket that was escorting a settler. Wake the rest of the troops and send them out towards Nineveh. The army leads and takes out a musket on the hill allowing the rest of the troops to position themselves to attack next turn. What did we do to Abe? He is willing to give up two cities for peace? It may be a mistake, but I take them. I like the idea of a pre-built toehold and we get Vegas. Our new holdings are on either side of the Bering Strait. I swap the Chinese dyes for gems and 220g. I change a few things around, rush some markets and Courthouses. Also rush some muskets in places that will do us some good.
(I) Russia and China make happy. Not much else. We love Mahatma Meldor Day is felt throughout the kingdom. All rioting cities are back in the fold.

760 AD (1)
I rush a couple of spears in our new cities. We lose a vet WE but I raze Nineveh. The city that takes its place will have three wheat in its city radius.
(I) We lose a WE to a knight and a bow make an AC retreat. Greece and Russia make happy. Persia and the Zulu ally against Babylon. Germany wants help vs Russia, I turn him down.

770 AD (2)
I take out the offending units. Our Troops advance towards Babylon.
(I) German joins the dogpile vs Babylon at the Zulus behest. The French start JS Bach's

780 AD (3)
More movement. Seems the Eygptians are attempting to beat us to our new city site. Too bad our settler will get there next turn. I do find 3 workers for sell.
(I) Argentina and France ally against Russia. Germany and Egypt ally against Greece. We lose our spices as Argentina declares war on the Aztecs.

790 AD (4)
We don't lose any units but the struggle causes 3 WE to retreat. Babylon is ours. I would have razed it except the Egyptians had a settler right beside it. Hopefully we can hold it long enough to get another settler up there. Pick up Furs and Spices from Hiawatha for Printing Press and 195g. Ganges is formed with three wheat in its radius.
(I) Watch Babylon kill off a couple of Egyptian MDI. The Zulus bring in the Songhai against Babylon.

800 AD (5)
Move into Babylon to supress and rest. Settler is on the way. The healthy units will move out next turn for Eridu and Sun's. We also have a stack gathering outside Hovd to the north.
(I) Not much, watch the Egyptians, Aulu and Babs trade units.

810 AD (6)
Helathy units head for Eridu. Hovd falls to our forces and I keep it as there is little culture pressure on it and it s under size 6, besides I am hurting for settlers.

The French start JS Bach's
Well our Palace prebuild has a target - Sistine and Bach's would be awesome.

Sounds like our war machine continues to rock...

I have Sistine's as the target right now. I am waiting for the price to drop as only two civs have it and a 2-fer-deal hasn't shown up.

In 640 AD - we have built Sistine Chapel.
My reference was to get both of them for killing happy help. Bach's is the one I want. I agree on waiting for a price drop until the pre-build is down to 1 turn.

Sorry, meant to say JS Bach's...It is the one started by the French and Zulu. We had better watch the French for 100K culture if we don't eliminate them first.

810 AD (6)
(I) Watch the Egyptians and French kill each other off. Egypt starts Bach's so the price is dropping.

820 AD (7)
Our Elite AC takes first crack at Eridu and he not only takes out the top musket he produces another army for us to boot. We lose one WE to take out the remaining two muskets, but Sun Tzu's is now ours. Lee's army moves on to Ashur as we want to get rid of the culture pressure on both Eridu and Babylon. The troops in the north move on from Hovd and get up close and personal with Uruk, the Babylonian captital. I dump two elephants into the new army and send then southeast to relieve a little culture pressure in that direction. Elipi is in that area. Music Theroy is snagged from France for horses, iron and 140g. Sell Theology to Persia for 4 workers, 7g and 23gpt. I pick up another worker from the Aztecs.
(I) Australia and France ally against Russia. Babylon declares war on the Russians. America and the Iroquois make peace.

830 AD (8)
Our assualt of both Elipi and Uruk gets repelled. The army at Ashur waits as it looks like Egypt might prep it for us and I don't want to do it for them. Oh yea, forgot to mention that Bach's is due in 9. Madras, our second highest shield producing city starts the pre-build for Smith's.
(I) We lose an AC and a couple of WE to counters. Australia and the Zulu ally gainst the Babs.

840 AD (9)
Retreat for healing. Lee's army holds for re-inforcements. Load the last two elephants into Meldor's Munchers. It loosk like I will only get maybe one more Bab city on my turn. Send re-informents for the army at Ashur.
(I) Watch as more French, Egyptian and Zulu units fight amongst themselves. Egypt and Greece make happy. France and Australia ally aganst Babylon.

850 AD (10)
It cost us two AC but we take Ashur and capture the Mausoleum, 2 Trebs and 4 workers. It comes with a harbor and Aqueduct. This gives us a pretty good supply line into the Med.

We have Back's due in 7.
We have the Babs on the ropes. I would suggest we take the city west of Ashur, Elipi and Uruk. We can then get their samller cities for peace. They are willing to part with two of them now. This will make the a non-play and a tasty snack later on.

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads7/LK-850AD.zip

produces another army for us to boot
Meldor the super leader strikes again. Your luck has been great for leaders. I certainly can't argue with another WE army.

I also see lots of yummy workers coming our way.

Major Forum Upgrade This Weekend

We will be doing the long-awaited vB 3.0 upgrade this weekend, beginning late Friday night. Due to the many improvements and changes introduced in vB 3.0, the upgrade process is expected to take the whole weekend to complete.

With it being Mother's Day in the USA I don't know how many people will actually be able to play. If you could PM the player in front of you your e-mail address it may help to keep the game going while the forum is down.

Got it.
