LK75 - Deity, world map, civ = TBD

I regret to inform everyone that due to my breakup I won't be able to play anymore until I can get an internet connection where I will be moving to. Sorry all, I'll miss this.

I've posted this elsewhere -- my CD is acting up, so I'll need a swap or skip for this round. Sorry about the delay.

Sorry to see Barbslinger go so soon. This game NEEDS a replacment player. The world map is to much to play with just 4 players. I hope we can find another quickly as I can't handle a wm with 4 players later in the game.

Well I see it and will attempt to play on my "old" PC. Hope I can get it done. My new box has shipped but may not arrive until tuesday. The holiday slowed it down a bit I guess. When they say 3-5 they really mean 7.

1750 BC (0): Nothing to do but press enter. Bapedi was swapped to a granary and Ulundi from an impi to a warrior. Don't think we need impi quite yet.

1725 BC (1): Contiue to searchout new contacts with our scouts. Settle Mpondo at the purple dot. Start an early temple to bring in the cows. Not sure where the southern settler is heading. Joanie will not part with her monopoly on HBR.

INBT: Hammi wants us to leave who am I to argue.

1700 BC (2): Zim builds a worker starts a settler. No tech deals yet.

INBT: The Soghai demand and get 29 gold. Spot an orange curragh to the East.

1675 BC (3): Ulundi builds a warrior starts another. Crap Hlobane gets hit with disease from the Flood plains. New contact with Russia. She has HBR but wants an arm and a leg for it. Contact with Australia as well. Again HBR is available but too expensive. I can see Perias boarders but no contact.

1650 BC (4): Found Ngome in the desert. Starts a worker. More exploring . MM Zim.

INBT: They want a FP! That is quick! Now where is the best spot? I'll leave that up to Lee.

1625 BC (5): Continue to hold off on pulling the 2fer trigger. Want the price to go down. There are still civs without it so I think I am okay to wait.

1600 BC (6): Zim gets a settler starts another. Ulundi a warrior and starts an impi. Contact with Persia but have to head north because I fear I missed the land bridge. :wallbash: Will have German contact next turn. Bite the bullet and buy HBR from Joanie for 170 gold, and 9gpt. HBR and 35 gold to Alex for Alphabet. NOW this is nuts but I will take it. HBR to Soghai for Writing and 50 gold. HBR to Cleo for Mysticism and 40 gold. Writing to Alex for all his gold 78. Picked up HBR, Mystics, Alphabet and Writing. We are at tech parity.

INBT: Washington completed the Oracle. France starts ToA.

1575 BC (7): Contact with Germany, the have Philo and Math and 3 workers :hmm: at war. I want to buy one but refrain. Maybe they will be still there in a few turns. Well France just exploded with techs, poly, math, mapmaking and philo.

1550 BC (8): Hlobane builds a barracks starts an impi. MM Zim for growth in 2.

INBT: Babylon completed the Pyramids.

1525 BC (9): Moving settler toward second horse and Western fish dot. No deals possible, France won't part with her techs. Lux to 30% for Ulundi unit we get another MP.

1500 BC (10): Whip the temple at Isandhlwana. Swap some MPs and lower lux to 20%. There are still 2 workers to be had from Germany. Can't afford any tech deals but one should be availble soon as Greece just got Maps and Math and Australia has philo. France is still a lone front runner in tech.

I am still looking for a 5th player to pick up the dropped slot. It is way to early too go with 4 players.

Not having prior world map knowledge cost me contact with India.

Also, not sure what to do with the third scout near the Sogahi.

Amazed at how far ahead in tech France is compared to the pack. They had to have gotten Philo and trade with Germany. Just a guess.

Who else is out there for contacts?

Who else is out there for contacts?
On our landmass - India, China and Mongols. I have all 3 scouts heading that way.
The new world has - Iroquois, USA, Aztecs, Venuzuela, Brazil and Argentina. The better part is the new world should be backwards and give us some trading openings.

------------------------------------

1500 BC
I see one settler clearly heading for white dot. The settler being built in Zimbabwe will go for yellow dot. That will complete that section of the map. The other on-map settler will continue past Bapedi for a city site.

The only MM change is to have Ulundi swap to the forest go be at 5 shields a turn for quicker military.

I ship Germany $125 and pick up a worker as we are past turn 50. There are more for sale, but I want to leave some spare cash for tech trading. That worker will connect the horses by Zimbabwe. I want to start building some offensive troops.

We really want map making, but I can't make the deal right know. I want to be the first to "discover" Madagascar and settle it is as it is close to home.

1475 BC
I order a big shift if the movement of the scouts. There is no other civ to be found in Northern Africa, and none in the Middle East peninsula. We need to find India, China and the Mongols. All scouts need to head toward Asia.

1425 BC
Swazi is formed. This is the western white dot city. We now have a third source of horses.

1300 BC
Tugela is formed. This is the eastern off yellow dot.

1275 BC
Umtata is formed. This is the western yellow dot. Our western area is completed.
(IT) When France demands $30 you know your military is pathetic. She gets cash this time.
The Australians complete the Mausoleum of Mausollos.

Summary:
Zimbabwe is a perfect settler factory. The only problem is it requires constant MM.

Bapedi is heading toward a heavy worker source. We have an absurd amount of plains to irrigate.

Our short-term goals:
1) Map making to get settlers to Madagascar and to find the new world. One galley heads west toward America, and a second to explore Madagascar.
2) Start building horseman. We want to raze a few Songhai and / or Egypt towns and see if they will donate to our science fund.
3) Expand, expand, and expand with the goal of getting that incense and a backup iron.
4) Our government goal is MONARCHY. We are luxury poor, and plan to do a lot of fighting. We simply can't support a republic.

The dot maps are in the next post:
Since we are heading toward the cities from the Songhai and Egypt I am only going to post a few more city plans at a time.

The below are the next batch in the west. These dots should increase our odds of coals and rubber a lot in the future.
LAK-476.jpg

The white line is our next key expansion path. We really need to get the incense on-line.
LAK-477.jpg

Zim isn't too bad. Right after Settler is built go on growth for +5fpt, Settler will be due in 5 I think. Just keep it at +5ft and the settler will come every 4 turns.

I suspect Babepi will be real nice too once the granary comes in. Only real problem I see is we are sheild poor with no real hills or BG to speak of.

Where do you plan to put the FP?

An excellent round of trading in 1200 BC! Who is Germany fighting to still have those workers at home? They were they at the end of my round.

Ouch, I must have been really tired last night when I did the last turn. We met China and they are so far behind in tech that it isn't funny (5 behind us, we are at least 2 behind).

We need to start building embassies as we get the money to cut the tech cost. Start with France, who is always the cheapest seller.

Always seems to be one backwards civ. Let's hope the get something of value - even a worker or 2 wouldn't hurt.

We also want to have an idea who is fighting each other. I agree on the embassies.

I got a chance to look at the game. Please change the taxman in our FP city to work the cow. This saves 13 turns on the FP. Corruption is killing us and I can't wait to get the FP on-line.

We have quite a few workers in the fields. I can tell how bad our lands are as I feel we a lot need more.

This seems way early for me on a world map.. so I checked your save with Seed Beast.

Seed Beast says your Map Size is SMALL.
(Tech pace seemed way fast to me too for a world map of that size.. even for diety difficulty)

Guessing you have been hit by the bug descibed here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=98041

In other words.. the game size set in 'Start New Game' from before the senario was loaded was set to SMALL (Huge would have been more appropiate on this map :) )
