Well the last two votes arrived to late. I already played the game and started it as the Zulu.
--------------------------------------
4000 BC
We have plains and grassland cow tiles. Can you say settler factory?
3750 BC
We pop a hut for $25.
3700 BC
We pop a hut and get a settler.
So much for the deity bonus...
3600 BC
Cheaply gained Ulundi is formed.
3350 BC
We pop a hut and get some boring maps.
3250 BC
We pop a hut and get another settler. I think expansionist is out of control this game.
3200 BC
We pop and hut and are back to boring maps.
3150 BC
We pop a hut and finally get a tech - Burial.
3000 BC
We get contact faster than expected as we find a Songhai warrior. The only trade is to simply sell warrior code for a few bucks.
2950 BC
Bapedi is formed. Would you believe is has cow and wheat to work with. It has a second cow with border expansion. Did I mention the fish on the lake for +3 food?
2850 BC
We pop a hut and once again get maps.
2590 BC
Hlobane is formed at we be another food heavy city after border expansion.
We pop another hut and we get $25.
2510 BC
We finally make out second contact - Egypt. No trade deals are possible.
2310 BC
We make contact with Babylon. They are several techs above us.
2270 BC
Well horses won't be a problem. Bapedi has them in its second ring and is 7 turns from completing a temple. White dot will be a backup / tradable source. Not to mention a source right next to the capitol.
The Wheel and $35 gets us Bronze Working and Masonry from the Songhai. The Wheel, Warrior Code and $2/turn gets us Iron Working from Egypt.
I add another city to the dot-map for claim our first iron source.
Isandhlwana is formed. This is the tan dot with food overload.
I yell over the Mediterranean to the French workers. France is way ahead of us, and no trades are possible.
2230 BC
(IT) The Songhai starts the Pyramids. I would be very happy if they built it for us.
2150 BC
The Greek borders are spotted. They next player gets to make contact.
Summary:
Zimbabwe is a perfect worker / settler factory. The only problem is it requires constant MM. As it is something got out of sync.
Once the temples complete we need to skim a worker out of those towns. Our worker force is a bit on the light side.
Ulundi already has a barracks and is pumping out warriors.
