LK75 - Deity, world map, civ = TBD

Well the last two votes arrived to late. I already played the game and started it as the Zulu.

--------------------------------------

4000 BC
We have plains and grassland cow tiles. Can you say settler factory?

3750 BC
We pop a hut for $25.

3700 BC
We pop a hut and get a settler.
:hmm: So much for the deity bonus...

3600 BC
Cheaply gained Ulundi is formed.

3350 BC
We pop a hut and get some boring maps.

3250 BC
We pop a hut and get another settler. I think expansionist is out of control this game.

3200 BC
We pop and hut and are back to boring maps.

3150 BC
We pop a hut and finally get a tech - Burial.

3000 BC
We get contact faster than expected as we find a Songhai warrior. The only trade is to simply sell warrior code for a few bucks.

2950 BC
Bapedi is formed. Would you believe is has cow and wheat to work with. It has a second cow with border expansion. Did I mention the fish on the lake for +3 food?

2850 BC
We pop a hut and once again get maps.

2590 BC
Hlobane is formed at we be another food heavy city after border expansion.

We pop another hut and we get $25.

2510 BC
We finally make out second contact - Egypt. No trade deals are possible.

2310 BC
We make contact with Babylon. They are several techs above us.

2270 BC
Well horses won't be a problem. Bapedi has them in its second ring and is 7 turns from completing a temple. White dot will be a backup / tradable source. Not to mention a source right next to the capitol.

The Wheel and $35 gets us Bronze Working and Masonry from the Songhai. The Wheel, Warrior Code and $2/turn gets us Iron Working from Egypt.

I add another city to the dot-map for claim our first iron source.

Isandhlwana is formed. This is the tan dot with food overload.

I yell over the Mediterranean to the French workers. France is way ahead of us, and no trades are possible.

2230 BC
(IT) The Songhai starts the Pyramids. I would be very happy if they built it for us.

2150 BC
The Greek borders are spotted. They next player gets to make contact.

Summary:
Zimbabwe is a perfect worker / settler factory. The only problem is it requires constant MM. As it is something got out of sync.

Once the temples complete we need to skim a worker out of those towns. Our worker force is a bit on the light side.

Ulundi already has a barracks and is pumping out warriors.

Got it. Will have a look tomorrow and hopefully play tomorrow morning. Should be short turns. It is 10 turns, correct? Will gear up for more settlers. Looks like a bit of a farmers gambit. With all those cows and wheat I'm not surprised. I'm gathering from the log that the maps are from prior to the actual save?

Yes

A bit, though we already have one city in pure military mode

Correct - I made the maps up when I have to build the 4th city. A couple of the sites are formed. The ??? area got a city when I noticed iron down there.

[dance] Good news! I got notification that they shipped my new box today and maybe should see it by Friday. At least I hope so!

Whoa! I just noticed something. Is this game on 1.15? I almost loaded it at 1.22 until I saw ">> Starting with LK68 the LK series is on patch 1.22." when I went to download.

This game is on patch 1.22.

I wonder if I need to chance that message?

I downloaded and see it is LK74 - Indians. Please re - upload.
Also, I don't know what I was thinking. 75 is after 68

Preturn – Notes to self: Zimbabwe is a perfect worker / settler factory. The only problem is it requires constant MM. As it is something got out of sync. Man, are we ever luxury poor. Incense, the closest and only possibility, is 15 tiles from our suburb Bapedi. Religion, aka temples, will have to be our peoples luxury for some time to come. Procreation (settlers) and hard work (workers)will help a lot here by getting a road network up. Once we have a few to spare I would dedicate them to connecting us up with the rest of the world. No trades available, even though a 2-fer is out there, even with sliders all the way down. I’m thinking we won’t need iron for a bit due to the distance from other civs so I’m going to settle the higher value dots my turns. Zimbabwe is a bit screwy on the shield count for 4 turn settlers(+5fpt, 7 shields in box and making 6spt) so I’ll see if we can do something with that. Looks like Bapedi gets a temple next turn, on a pop rush of 15 shields, with it growing next turn. I did say hard work. Not much to do, let’s roll Shaka.
IT - Uludi-Warrior>Warrior, Bapedi-Temple>Worker
[1] 2110 – We meet the Greeks and hope that lowers tech cost. He is up Alpha and myst. Joanie is up those and HBR. Myst can be had a too steep a price and would force specialists. Besides we would only get myst and alpha. Perhaps a 3-fer will show soon. More contacts will help. U see a settler active going for iron spot so I continue. I really like the spot 1N from the proposed dot to get the BG and more grass that we can water after gov’t change to use the hills/ mountains. It does not immediately catch the iron but they all get a temple anyhow.
[2] 2070 – Lux up for Zimbabwe. Fix tile for 2-2 on settler.
[3] 2030 – Intombe founded. Set to warrior for MP then temple. No trades yet.
IT – Zimbabwe – Settler>Worker/growth in 2. Ulundi-Warrior>Warrior.
[4] 1990 – All but Songhai have myst now.
IT – Egypt building the oracle.
[5] 1950 – Moving a couple units and shut off research. Until someone can come up with HBR we are at a dead-end here.
IT – Zimbabwe – Worker>Settler
[6] 1910 – Send a scout across Egpytian lines to get over towards India.
IT – Ulundi –Warrior>Warrior.
[7] 1870 – Moving scouts. Forgot to rush Hlobanes temple last turn. Do another 15 shield rush job.
IT – Hlobane-Temple>Rax with its shields. Intombe- MP warrior>Temple.
[8] 1830 – Nada
IT – Bapedi-Worker>Rax in 7.
[9] 1790- Nada
IT – Zimbabwe – Settler> Worker, Ulundi-Warrior>Impi.
[10] 1750 – Moving units.
France is still up HBR and we should get some a 2-fer or more when some one else gets it. Scouts are scouting workers working. We are going to need a lot of workers. There is a worker ready to plant near the double sugar and another heading out naked to the oasis/coast. Maybe you want to put a warrior from Zimbabwe with him. I sent the last warrior from Ulundi to Bapedi for more MP.

Send a scout across Egpytian lines to get over towards India

That is our big thing right now - more contacts! That Greek scout should find Germany and Russia soon.

We not only want to find India, but Persia.

We also need a ship to head along the eastern coast to meet the new world.

===================

We are going to need a lot of workers.
I agree 100%. My only comment is to NOT build them from Zimbabwe. We have a lot of land to grab. We need to stay in maximum expansion mode. I would skim the workers from any town between builds. A few less settlers could cost us getting the Ivory in the center of Africa.

I felt the same way about settlers and wanted to go straight 4-turn settlers. I respect your knowledge though and I do know the power of workers. The workers we have now should be able to take care of our immediate needs and keep pop working on improved tiles. Happiness is our problem. Are barbs off in this game? I have not seen even one. If they are, sending naked settlers is fine.

OK, I will say I didn't say the one right. I see Zimbabwe as a great short-term source of settler, and long-term of workers. We may need to pull an occasional from Zimbabwe. We have other cities that can also become settler / worker farms. One of them needs that temple to finish and pull the additional cows into range.

--------------------

I am curious - if we found Greece, why didn't we find Germany with the scout?

Maybe that is my lack of world map playing knowledge. I didn't step on every tile on my travels to the NE. I wanted to get that scout over pretty much on a straight line. I have a feeling we'll be meeting a lot more very soon though.

I suspect so. From Greece you wanted pure north to find Germany. However, as long as we keep meeting Civs I will be happy. You did find Greece and are heading toward India / Persia.

I got a chance to look at the game. I would swap Bapedi to granary. Once we irrigate the 2 cows and the wheat we have another worker factory. The corruption is to bad for a settler factory, but 5 shields / 5 foods is a reasonable goal. Size 3 will provide the 3 extra food, and size 4 / 5 will get us enough shields despite corruption.

There is no reason for a new dot map yet. I still see three western dots to build, and three eastern dots to build. I suspect I will need another map after 2 or 3 rounds.

I am not sure of Meldor's status and if he has a working PC yet. If I don't heard anything today I will issue a skip tomorrow morning.
