1) I can't tell if Meldor reset our towns needed border expansions back to temples. If he hasn't please to so. Domination of the world map needs a lot of tiles.
2) I think the big payment to France ends during your turns. Can we self-research spies in a reasonable time?
3) Can we get India to ally vs. Russia. We need to keep the big 3 fighting.

We are at the gates of the capital. The armies need to heal but we can then either go after the capital or go for the cities with the luxes.

[EDIT] The Donghai don't have that many large cities left, a handfull at most. I would suspect they will utterly collapse in the next 5-10 turns.

When the Songhai are done, it is time to hit the Babs. I would suggest we can start by booting that CAv on Madagascar.

I'm involved in a crisis-situation somewhere on the CFC-forum. The previous 5 days have been the most difficult of my moderator-ship and it is bound to get far worse soon. I've had to do over 13 hours of work on this forum because of it and the crisis is by no means over, far from it. My time is already limited (I have a full-time job), so 13 hours of my spare time is a lot.
Without going into details I can say that I have very little time for SG's at the moment.

I kindly ask for a skip. I will stay on the sideline in this SG. I hope I can find the time to play if my turn gets back in the next round, but that all depends on the situation.

Ok I've got it and will take it slow. I want to be sure and make sure I way all the options before jumping headlong into a bad situation. I will start on it later tonight and post any questions/concerns if I see we are at a pivotal crossroads.

I looked at the game and I finally figured out what bothered me with Meldor's report. We had an ACTIVE alliance with the Mongol's vs. India at the point the game.


We are now really screwed.

If another dog pile starts we can't do a thing about it. With the number of civs that hate us another dog pile WILL start.
 
I think we will have to use espionage extensively, and be very careful at least up until we get infantry and artillery.

If we do not need the american lands, then we still might pull out a win, as it is unlikely all the eurasians will unita against only us, and forget all their internal strife.

The first deity world map was/is perhaps not the best game to try managing with a ruined rep, but games with ruined reps are still playable.

I would try to slug it out until the situation is irreversible.

I loaded the turn and looked at it. I did indeed accidentally break the treaty. I do apologize.

However, breaking a militery alliance is not a serious breach of rep. Our rep was damaged before that on turn one when I tried to deal with America and have them pay cash for a lux. They would only go for gpt and even a payment of 1g would not be given. The same with the French on turn one.

I think a begger deal got busted than a simple breaking of an alliance. I do accept my share of the blame however.

That said, I think this game will be won by us. The Songhai are taost, and then we start in on the Babs and whomever else we can reach. Self research will be a lot easier and in the end, that is what we do anyway on the world maps. What was slowed us down mroe is the added corruption that doesn't give us a large enough core.

We also broke sending goods to the Mongols when China declares war on us. I have learned a lesson to never trade with a pure inland civ.

The reason I fear the military alliance rep damage is that we can't avoid another round of Russia gets the world to declare war on us. Babylon and France saved us this time. We have lost the important ability of stiring up trouble to get the AI Civs to waste troops on each other.

I actually am more bothers by the lack of military options, then the trade rep. At this point I wanted to stop trading with the tech leaders anyhow.
 
LK75 1150AD (0): Well we still need industrialization but we are 10
turns into Commnunism already. Not sure if we want to scrap communisim
altogether and go for factories? Well there are exactly 5 turns on the
France gold for tech deal so I will not change anything and try to get
Industrialization one way or another. India will not join the fight
against Russia :(. Looks like our primary is still the Songhai. All
junk has been already swapped to temples.

INBT: Egypt and France Ally against India. Brazil and France against
Persia. Brazil and France against Iroquios and India. We lost our silks

now. Brazil and egpyt vs Austrailia. Persia is starting ToE.

1160 AD (1): Settle Swazi 2 on the frontlines where he started. India
will join the fight against Russia for ALL our gold. Not right now.
NO luck finding a seller for industrialization. Tried renegociating
peace with the Mongols but he wasn't selling but we are now at peace
for 20 more turns :p. Our units are resting for now.

INBT: Egypt and Brazil sign and embargo against us. Russia was nice
enough to declare war on India. Mongols and Songhai make peace. Aztecs
declare on Austrailia. Mongols and Egypt make peace. Abe and Alex make
peace. Persia has destroyed the Greeks. France completed Universal
Sufferage.

1170 AD (2): Attack a redlined cav and get a new leader [dance]. Build
a new army. Armies are still weak but should be ready to move next
turn. Continue the rails around our core. Still unable to get Industrialization. 3 turns remain on the France Gold for tech deal. Good news is that the entire world is still at war.

Please don't buy it from the tech leaders of France, Russia or India. We need to stop helping the tech leaders. I would like to see us start builidng libraries for self-research.
 
My plan with Communism was that I thought we should steal/trade/extort in peace deals our way into the next several techs, because we did not even have libraries in most of our cities.

Given that, I deemed Communism as the tech least likely to be gotten in said type of deals, thus primary target for singel scientist. If we go to self ersearch, then by all means, do not feel bound to complete it.

I think we can do 40 turn self research :) :p

1170AD (2): Continued Swap Isandhlwana to a library. Maybe be able to start a few more in soonish. Change New Ulundi to a library as well. We do not have a lot of cavs available but the ones we do have are sitting in strong Armies and the Songhai are about gassed. Loaded up the new army with cavs. This may be too conservative but want to wait one more turn to allow the armies to fully heal. Increaseing research will only shave 2 turns off Communism. We just don't have enough libraries or universities to "self research" at better than minimum.

IBNT: Babs join India vs Abe. Iroquios and France make peace. Brazil wants peace and will give up cities but I would like to check our alliance situation first. Babylon and MOngols make peace. Mongols and argentina sign an embargo against us. Babs and Egypt make peace. Iroquios and Persia sign MPP.

1180 AD (3): A cav completes starts on a library in Amal.... BTW I really hate it when you get 1 town then it waiting for something else to complete. Move our army stack toward the red capital. Kill a couple rifles and a wondering cav outside of Ngome 2. Will make a play for the capital next turn. Make peace straight up with Brazil. They have nothing for us and I don't want a useless undefeable city.

INBT: Venzuela joins France vs India. Iroquios declare on India. Mongols and Aztecs make peace. Babylon doesn't want to fight with us vs Russia so I let them off the hook. Meldor is right they are our next target is suppose.

1190 AD (4): Umtata builds a courthouse starts a library. Zim builds a hosptal starts a library. New Ulundi builds a library starts a hospital. Austraila starts ToE. Gao the RED capital is razed for a mere 79 gold. and 10 new workers and a couple more cannons. Our armies need to retreat and rest however. Kill a few random cavs around.

INBT: Aztecs and France join forces against Persia. France and Songhai make peace. VEnzuela and Aztecs join against Iroquois. Iroquois declare on the Mongols.

1200 AD (5): ulundi builds rifle starts a library. Bapedi builds a rifle starts on a hospital. Same with Hlobane. Isandhlwana gets a library starts a cav. Intombe a cav starts a library. Oh OH. Russia gets ToE and starts on Hoover. Argentina lands 2 cavs behind our lines. What does lee say about junk units like a random elite MDI?? Well he killed a Argentinian longbow and nets us a leader. I will leave him empty for Lee to fill. :wallbash: make an ill advised play for Sokoto and nearly lose my earlier army.

I did no negociations we have most of our France gpt back. Also, we need to start thinking about optimizing our towns.

Good solid Infra buildup. Our armies should be sufficient for making progress on the front by now, and Infra should be prioritized.

Also agree on avoiding deals with neighbours at this stage. We ought to be able to advance slowly and surely against any opponents now.

I do not think we should go peace with Russia any time soon though. I am fairly certain they are more weakened than we are by this warfare, and they need to be slowed down.

This is exactly why I never get rid of them. Sooner a later a obsolote pays off. I think I pulled a leader from a elite JT with the Maya's in the age of cavalry.

Have fun and pound the Songhai down to just 1 city. I hope at that point they will give us a tech, or at least a great deal.

We need to stop helping the leaders so no GPT to France, Russia or India. Since our alliance of France vs. Russia is still going no Russia peace. Let's not make our rep even worse...

Actually; I am considering a steal-attempt of Communism from Persia and if succesful trade it around and revolting.
I hate Communism and having to use pop rushing. Please DON'T revolt to it.
