So, is the current link on page #1, first post, the link to the current/finished project? I'm anxious to play, but-- *cough* DIAL-UP...

It never ceases to amaze me that there are still some people on the planet who have to use dial-up.. I used to live quite literally in the middle of nowhere, and yet the last time I had to use a normal modem was like back in 1997. And I think we got broadband at around 2000. This in a city of 8000, nearly 200km away from the nearest city of 100 000 people :P

=P the closest "town" to me is 14 miles away, 600 people and they classify it as a village. Where I live is a large pile of woods with about 1000 people, but its stretched far, not as bad as Alaska, but VERY far per person.

Ah. I believe I can imagine - I have family in Lapland ;)

It's interesting to watch, though, if that one company's ambitious plans for the old, now free NMT 450 and NMT 900 frequencies work. Their goal is to make wireless broadband available everywhere in the country. Rather cheap for them too, if they can make it work - link towers for those frequencies already exist and cover everything..

But I astray. Badly. Err.. someone write about your game again :P

Right, um--hmmm, I cannot wait to play this assuming I ever download it ^^;

Is the main download on the first post all that is needed or are there any patches, updates buried within the thread that I would need?

As far as I can remember, there aren't any patches and that's the only download. There's a special resource on the map that shouldn't be there anymore, though. ROTCWinter said that the extra mythril (found west of Arnor's realm) was left there for testing purposes and forgotten. It should only be available in Moria, so if you're a sporty chap you can use the world editor to remove it ;)

Hey, i'm kinda new to the scene, i just downloaded this file, i figure it'll be pretty cool. I'm a writer, and i'd like to build my own map of the places in my book. My email is, madhatter213@aol.com. Email me if you can help.

 i realy need some help. i can never get the maps to work, it says they are corupt. i need BIC files, but they are BIQ files. already tryed changeing em to BIC, but thats when they say its corupt. then they are not visible as BIQ. im loseing it!!! help?:hammer2:

I believe the problem is that you are using plain vanilla Civ 3, which uses bic files. This particular mod was made with the Conquests expansion, which uses biq files. Now the problem is that Conquests didn't exist when vanilla was produced so the vanilla editor will not recognize Conquests files. Of course, the Conquests editor will recognize vanilla files (and PTW for that matter, bix files) because it was produced subsequent to vanilla. The solution is to find someone you know who has Conquests. Have them open the files in the editor and save as bic files, assuming you know someone with Conquests. Hope this helps.

Hey, have you finished the updated version?
I've been wanting to play this mod but you've been teasing us all with the prospect of an update and I figure if I've got to download all those megabytes I might as well wait for the update.:mischief:
So how about? You got it finished? Huh? Do you?
(ok, so I'm a little eager):D

if i have a bad version, then where do i go to get maps for the vesion that i have? i dont know anyone who has the conquests thing.

Here is the URL of the main Civfanatics maps forum.

You will find all sorts of maps here.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of them are for the Conquests expansion pack, C3C, but if you look long enough you might perhaps find some for the original, plain, vanilla Civ.

Or, you can buy the conquests expansion pack.

Apparantly I was incorrect in thinking that the newer, Conquests biq editor would save as the older vanilla bic files. I tried it and could not make it work. Subsequently posted on the main forum and got some pretty definative answers. Follow the link.

So, it would seem that the only way to get maps for the original, plain, vanilla Civ III is to sift through the maps forum on this and other sites.

Why are there no city walls with 50% defence bonus in this scenario?

Why are there no roads to mirkwood from Mordor. You can only build orc archers and spearmen in Dol guldur. Also you should be able to build spiders in Dol Guldur from start.

Why are both Mordor cities in Mirkwood starving?

When I played as Mordor 2 of my nazguls were killed by barbarian wolves.
The barbs are too many and too strong.

Minas Tirith is a tough nut to crack, being built on mountain. The problem is that the AI doesnt use the stationary trebuchets when you approach the city. If playing as human vs human I think Gondor is too strong.
The stationary trebuchets should have only 2 movement so that each machine can only shoot twice instead of three times.
Also 1 or 2 undead less should be spawned or reduce their defense to 8.

Rohirrim should have one more city in the east and the production around Edoras/Helms deep should be somewhat higher.

Increase cost of eagles, those are superunits at the moment.

Decrease cost of rangers somewhat.

Just some thoughts...

Hey all I am new here and it'd be great if you guys could answer some questions.
What version of Civ Conquests do I need to have installed in order to play this mod? I haven't Downloaded any patches and the mod didn't work. It says that the art/flic files or something are missing, and kicks me out. so I replaced those files with some regular ones, and it kicks me out without an error message as soon as I select a Civ for the mod.
Also, another question, I have edited some scenarios like the Napoleonic Wars scenario, so if I download a patch, will I still be able to play my edited version? My guess woould be yes, but I'm not a hundred % sure so...

Help would be greatly appreciated!
