Oh, the horror!

In my absent mindedness, I had two great people (Mr 1400 GSci and Mr 1600 GMerch) standing around idle while their buddy Mr 1200 Gspy where scouting around abit.

They had great plans to start a lovely MoM powered 12 turn golden age.

But to my horror, an AI that shall not be named, rode in through the railroaded culture of another AI that where pushing me culturally with an Cavalry that must be evil incarnate, and slaughtered them both.

There are mistakes, and then there are mistakes...

Great People that I intend to use for a Golden Age I like to park somewhere in the middle of my culture, preferably on a gold mine (named "the hill of golden age"), to make sure that kind of stuff doesn't happen. Failing that just keep them in the capital, because if that unexpectedly falls than chances are it's GG anyway.

Yep, I never keep GPs anywhere near the borders

Oh, such things may happen to many people! :hammer2:

Back in the old days when I was trying to win at Noble, I was at war with AI A. I got a GMerchant and sent him to one of AI B's city for a trade mission. But I forgot that AI A and B had open border. Then my GMerchant was killed within B's border, by a chariot of A :wallbash: .

Lesson learnt: during war-time, when sending a GMerchant for trade mission, always check if the GM's destination has open border with my enemy.

Ha...yep..I have made that mistake more than once....snipe!

Well, once upon time my lack of up-to-date knowledge about who has or hasn't Chemistry got my transport with Great Merchant on-board right on path with pirate ship. Only captain survived to tell the story.

Maybe drop down to Monarch for a few games. The AI there are much kinder. I guess not all great people go on to do great things.
