Louis XIV (Industrious-Deity series)

So, it does come down to population. You will need more people to swing the votes if you want to be pope.

Turn 200-210
Spoiler :
f_turn210m_c6814a5.jpg

Alright, Boudica asked/demanded again that I join the war. I finally accepted yes to fix our relations.

Of course, it’s just a fake war, but the AI is just too STUPID to realize that.
Some good news though, we flipped a barbarian city with our culture.

Turn 210-220
Spoiler :
f_turn220m_b15a03d.jpg

Our fake-war continues, and I ended up doing not much else but founding this Icy-Crab city. There were some other good spots I could have taken this turn, but the AI’s seem to have filled in the good ones. This is because I had slacked off, but I’m still not really worried about it.

Turn 220-230
Spoiler :
f_turn230m_c8a1cfd.jpg

We finally popped our first scientist for an academy.
I founded 2 more cities this turn. Notice that even though I am cultural, the game-engine still decides to run an artist for me.

Turn 230-240
Spoiler :
f_turn240m_d809ac2.jpg

Another GP.

Hamm vassals to Boudica, and then we make a defense pact with Boudica.

And we plant down yet another city.
By the way, not once did our AP so much as give us a damn resolution. No holy war, no peace, not even a denial of trade. Nothing.... This really bugs me how I never get anything happen when I own it, but when the AI has it, I am forced to peace the second I declare a war. What gives?

Turn 240-250
Spoiler :
f_turn250m_65bb655.jpg

Even though Charle had made me his worst enemy in the beginning. And we are still running opposing religions, he just came out of the blue and gifted me Physics. Hmm!
Anyway, I founded Whale City, and then we popped another scientist.

Turn 250-260
Spoiler :
f_turn260m_bcabb24.jpg

Now this was really, really stupid. Ragnar, decides to attack Ham, which means attacking Boudica, which means attacking me as well. What a ******** AI. Pure Firaxis stupidity this is...

And to make things worse, I had just FINALLY been able to get my religion spread into Ham’s capital, and a couple turns later it just went kaplooee. So much for that!

Turn 260-270
Spoiler :
f_turn270m_af14d71.jpg

Finally Ragnar made peace with Boudica, I then gave him 113 gold a turn so I could re-hook up with Boudica under another defense pact.
I also lost the race to Broadway, Charle beat me. What else can you do...
Turn 270-280
I then converted to US because Boudica asked/demanded it. This totally would kill my economy but, I didn’t really care anymore at this point. Safety first.
Nothing else exciting at all, except for completing my forbidden palace.

I have yet to see one single resolution come from my AP.

Turn 280-290
Spoiler :
f_turn290m_9411beb.jpg

Oh my God, say it isn’t so! Finally an option pops up, for Religions victory. Now this is weird, I read on the forum that someone has to be running under that religion for this option to work, but obviously this is not the case because no one is! So that means I spent all these rounds working on spy points and getting spies ready and in position all for nothing now.

I even over-spread my religion now in the wrong civ, trying to get a conversion, and now that means I just am short of getting the victory. What a stupid waste. At least we will know now for the next time...
This goes to show you how even still there is so much bad information going around in the community on how things work or are SUPPOSED to work.

So , after just barely missing the victory, we decided to accept another defensive pact from our brother Shaka.

Turn 290-300
Spoiler :
f_turn300m_7ad5156.jpg

We select diplo victory again, and try another crack at it. Our friend Shaka DoWs on Ragnar, so did Boudica. Hmm, I’ll probably get dragged into it as well now...
Unfortunately, I was just 5 votes short, haha.

Anyhow... victory SHOULD be just around the corner now...

As long as you are the only player running the AP religion, there will be no votes for anything.

Well that does explain part of the puzzle then. But it seems you can still vote for a diplo victory.

Well, you've been reading wrong threads obviously. ;) The idea is to spread your religion to your friend and to smallest possible cites from other civs, not to capitals.

What gives?

Nobody has Christianity as state religion. Check this thread for more details: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=308118

EDIT: I see you've posted there...this thread has the info about other resolutions, not the actual winning resolution.

You could have tried this trick too: vote for yourself and switch religions to double your votes. You could even DoW Boudica then, she'd still vote for you since her choice would be set when you vote! Counting on the other hand is not done immediately. Note: I haven't actually tested this for AP, but I've done it for UN. You can DoW sb and take some cities and still get their votes. You could try it out after the game and tell us if it works for AP as well... crazy palace.

Turn 300-303
Spoiler :
f_turn303m_5b84ae3.jpg

We were asked to join the war by Shaka, and gave him a YES.

And then we selected diplo victory AGAIN.

Popped another priest.

And here is a last look at our capital. You can see this war has plummeted me back down into unhappiness.

Turn 304
Spoiler :
f_turn304m_1fd6910.jpg

My first ever diplomatic/religious victory with the AP. It was a bit of a learning experience, so hopefully the next time it runs along much better than it did here.

Unless I am going after cavalry I tend to put off HR indefinitely. Interesting though, I had only just then finished off researching philosophy at the end, can you believe it?

Anyhow, time to bring this this thread to a close by including last details.
