LP1: That's the wrong end of the gun

well you're probably right that roading from right side to north would be quicker and i fully know it now. But I think we should such mistakes make strength, for example we have now (or will have) direct path from nidaros to north and it is shorter path then going first to uppsala then north.

Buddhism has Isabella so it's a question if we want fire with enemy close or far away. i am for waiting to get hinduism from ottoman which is far away.

I am not against getting city directly under the nose of izy (fish+ivory) and probably west near hamburg another fish+wine (for happiness after monarchy). But we have a lot of space to the east unsettled which is probably good land too.
It's a question if we will pump now settlers+workers from cap, you could easily make another 2-3 settlers in your turn set i think. And maybe even should.

And I still hope we will appreciate the monuments after you start those 2-3 new sites :-D. They cost something like 1 chop of forrest and you are immediately in culture war especially on borders.

NG's plan looks OK. Regarding granary in Nidaros -- I had wanted to do that earlier but people said "no whipping in the capital". Is it just for the +1:health: now?

Regarding religions: I support switching to buddhism. If we had done it when Izzy asked, we'd have avoided a slight diplo hit for refusing a request. Regarding waiting for Hinduism: doesn't that require a trade route to Sulieman's territory? I was under the impression that religions spread along trade routes.

I'm good with NG's PPP.

I'll reserve questions/comments about the pending war with Izzy until after NG's set. Depending on how NG plays it, I might be able to have Nictel ready for war if I whip lots.

What does everyone think our first built wonder should be? I know it is early in the game, but I'm thinking FP.

Turn 105

I slotted an archer in Nidaros to finish before the settler as barbs will start to cross our borders soon. He will probably escort settler to fish/ivory site. Change Haithabu to a granary first.

Turn 106

Uppsala finishes the monument. YEEEHAW only 88 turns for a granary!! Move our spawnbusting warrior in the desert east of Nidaros slightly farther east as our borders have spread. Another warrior climbs a golden hill.
Bismarck has built the Great Wall and also snagged the double gem city (for now). Normally this is when you’ll see barbs in heavier concentrations I’ve found.

Spoiler :

Turn 107

Mehmed drops in for a visit and asks for OB. Check as he’s not on Isabella’s hit list yes so I say ok. The worker roading toward Haithabu decides to chop some lumber to help speed the granary.

Spoiler :

Turn 108

Alpha is in and steer our course toward currency.

Spoiler :
LP05.jpg

Here’s the trade situation. Hopefully Bismarck will loosen his grip on IW soon. It will probably require 1 other civ to research it. I drop our science rate to 0%. I will do this for 2 turns while accumulating enough gold to research currency at 100%.

Spoiler :
LP06.jpg

Nidaros finished the archer and will complete the settler in 6.

Turn 109

Our easternmost warrior survives a barb attack. Worker in Haithabu has finished farming corn so starts a cottage.

Turn 110

A quiet turn. Everyone doing their job. Dial research back up to 100%. Currency in 22 turns. That’s markets for our commerce centers plus 2 :) for the fur and ivory.

Turn 111

More of the same as turn 110. Uppsala’s worker continues to road back to Nidaros. A warrior spawn-busting near ivory/fish will probably be attacked by a barb warrior next turn. It will be across the river and he’s in a forest so we should be in good shape.

Turn 112

He survives. If possible with marble nearby we should try to cultivate this warrior to try and open up the Heroic Epic.

Turn 113

More of nothing.

Turn 114

Nidaros completes it’s settler and he’s sent to settle ivory/fish. Slot a granary in. It will help city to grow (re-grow after being whipped, very rarely, but mostly for the extra health). Nidaros will be a nice, big capital - great for Bureaucracy (hmmm, and berserkers - sweet)

Turn 115

Pass the turn off. I labeled some cities and items on the map that we should get around to.

Sorry I don't have time for the why's but there is no way we will be ready for war anytime soon. We want to REX and tech specific techs. How about everyone chip in 1 tech that we want to research and why? It will be fun to see what we come up with.

I've got it. I won't play until at least Thursday night.

I'd like to move NG's production city one south. Lose 3 desert hills, pick up 2 tundra hills and horses.

I've narrowed my research choice down to 2. I'll finalize and post a PPP in about 24 hours. We may/should be able to get IW for alpha and math for currency.

One question. One more blocking city or backfill? Actually 2 questions. How quickly do we want cities up?

IIRC your diplo status with an AI might affect how willing they are to trade. Maybe OB with Izzy would convince her to trade? I don't think we'll get IW from Bismark -- AIs often won't trade monopoly techs (but that may vary with AI personality, and I don't know about him specifically).

There's unexplored territory. Is it finally time to build a galley+scout and go exploring coastlines with them?

The reason I like the production city where I put it is for less tundra. I think we can pick up the horses by building a granary and then Maoi (would be quick with the stone) for :culture: to eventually access the horse.
Normally I'd agree to go scout the unexplored lands but honestly feel that we have more than enough land right at our doorstep. I'd concentrate on getting settled and picking up currency-CoL-CS-construction and then go head busting.

NG is vacating the premises. Hmmm. I think of desert hills and tundra hills as a wash.

Don't we need machinery and metal casting somewhere in this loop before we unleash the zerks? maybe we can steal construction? i'll think about it.

No inclination to go scouting. We've got plenty to do on our own continent.

Here's my PPP. If there are no objections, I'm going to REX to the NW and try to grab a diamond. I'm also going to try to hook up gold. Research will be machinery for the crossbows and forges after we trade for iron. Maybe slam out a few workers. I'm also going to look at the spy slider. I feel the need to steal something. Also, I feel the need for speed (chops)

Sorry team, no war in sight. I'm feeling weak and want some xbows.

play in 24 hours or so.

Comments welcome. I'm an idiot. :)

Regarding the tech path and in a convoluted way, explaining my research choices:

Here's the path if I click on CS: math, med, priest, COL, CS.

Here's the path if I click on machines: MC, machinery

on the former path, mediation and priesthood are cheap techs that we can self research whenever. They have no trade value. I'm reasonably sure we can pull off a trade
for math at some point. COL is useful for the reduced maintenance costs, may get us a religion and we could probably trade it.

on the latter path, MC gets us forges and a happy face from gold allowing faster production and bigger cities. archers can be upgraded to LB o xbow in case of invasion. xbow are good
for fighting melee. xbows only need iron archery and machines, not CS

Accepting the premise that the former is better and we beeline for CS, we still need machinery to build zerks.

the wild card is how we acquire construction for stone throwing devices.

I've revised my PPP. My sole focus will be to get the culture battle for clams going. The gems are too food poor.

I'm an idiot. I played 15 instead of 10. The good news is that I stopped at a natural break. Currency will complete next turn as will the settler in Nidaros. The speed is throwing me off. I usually play standard, not epic. I refrained from chopping as the consensus seemed to be to wait for math. Didn't touch the espionage slider yet. I want to see how thing play out on the diplomatic front first. Otto is + 4, Izzy +2. Turks are Po'd, but not close.

Izzy asked for OB and I accepted. She has a cute dress even if she does wear a weird pointy thing on her head. Otto demanded Myst and I caved as the odd pointy thing on his head seemed very militaristic. Otto also demanded we convert to Buddhism so I did. Various barb warriors were killed with little difficulty. I got some more archers up for the national guard. Birka was planted and I started a boat to hook up the fish. Did a little whipping, but we're not too unhappy.

Decisions for the next set:
Where to send the settler? I vote to grab the gold and start the culture battle for the clams.
What to build in Hairbahu after the Granary? I'd like to whip out a library.
After the boat in Birka finishes, I'd like to whip out a library.
Uppsala is building a worker to control happiness and to eventually hook up the gold.

I'll post the detailed report soon.

Just a few comments; maybe more before Nictel posts his plan:
  1. With currency almost done, in the research advisor click shift-CoL-CS; CoL has 2 prereq paths, and we don't need the religions techs now. Eventually we need some of them (poly and prereqs?) for Literature (which enables the Heroic Epic, which we want as soon as we have a level 4 (10XP) unit).
  2. I'd personally rather settle the GP farm first before the fight-for-clams but the other way around is also fine.

Roster:
Nictel -- current player
ChuckDizzle -- on deck
dalamb
vranasm
Norvin_Green
Admiral Kutzov -- just finished

Sorry for my absence: School. Have been lurking but unable to spend the time to contribute anything substantial.

I'll post a plan tomorrow.:)

Here's the delayed details.

Spoiler :

115 - no changes
116 - zip
117 - nada
118 - worker 3 roading
119 - Izzy asked for open borders. Yep. Birka planted. Start a boat. Drop science to 90%, currency in 12.
120 - Nidaros finishes granary. Starts archer (whip it). Drop science to 80%, currency in 12.
121 - Nidaros archer -> settler. Incoming barb from NW of Nidaros. Whip granary in Uppsala
122 - Uppsala granary -> archer. Raise science to 90%. Currency in 9. Whack a barb near Nidaros
123 - whip Uppsala's archer.
124 - incoming barb at Birka.
125 - Otto demands Myst. ok.
126 - Otto demands we convert to Buddhism. sure.
127 - whack a barb in the SE
128 - the lost turn. poor record keeping
129 - Uppsala archer -> worker. Another incoming barb from the NW at Nidaros.

Decisions for the next set:
Where to send the settler? I vote to grab the gold and start the culture battle for the clams.
yes, settle out the rest of your land to the east

What to build in Hairbahu after the Granary? I'd like to whip out a library.
get that worker up there to chop it out, you need :culture: in those 2 cities up there. having buddha helps, should have gone monument 1st

After the boat in Birka finishes, I'd like to whip out a library.
also chop out, 1 pop whip if you need to

Uppsala is building a worker to control happiness and to eventually hook up the gold.
need about 2-3 more workers, get a library in Nidros. with all the cities being coastal a GLH shot might be worth it. need to generate some GSs for an academy and tech bulbs.

I think we can get away without the GLH (or any wonders for that matter). Let's hope we can swing a deal for IW soon. We need techs that will allow us war (Construction, HBR, CS, Machinery) as well as afford our 2nd phase of expansion (conquest) which includes CoL.

well last XX days i was thinking about it and I think i will just abandon the game... So good luck if you will continue
