Well, I MM'd Nidaros as Cripp indicated. Forgot, however, to MM it again back after the growth. Sorry, I'm a poor micromanager. Rather I'm lazy. I can do it well, but often forget what I've set forth. Especially in war. (More on that later.)

Regarding the farm chain to Horse Town, I did clear the forest, but I'm not seeing an irrigation path that makes sense. We'd have to either rip up a mine on iron, a camp on beavers, or any of several options for taking out villages. This for a couple of plots in horse town that already have cottages on them? Someone smarter than me show me the path and the wisdom, please.

Anyhow, on to the game. Autolog dump is below in the spoiler, but the highlights are that are economy went south after the war declaration and that I lost a horse archer and chariot on a pillaging run. Otherwise...

Someone with a better knowledge of the code needs to explain to me how that happened. First, I was certain that a shrine couldn't get destroyed when you take over a city. Second, I know Izzy must have built all sorts of buildings here. Can they all get destroyed???

Anyhow, the only other thing worth mentioning is that I calculated that my spy would arrive too late to help with the Spanish, so I sent him to Germany, where he might make a difference.

I think I'm next..good set, Ol Bizmark didn't put up much of a fight!

Someone with a better knowledge of the code needs to explain to me how that happened. First, I was certain that a shrine couldn't get destroyed when you take over a city. Second, I know Izzy must have built all sorts of buildings here. Can they all get destroyed???

That is strange, I'll look at the last save to see what she actually built. Usually there's something, I do know that :culture: is stripped out from buildings.
 
Looks good Rex. Maybe Izzy was building missionaries? So now we need to build a temple or Moai and generate a GP?

Oh, and I did look through the buildings xml. Any building with culture gets blown up immediately except world wonders and shrines, which always remain. So, Izzy did not have the shrine. She does have other holy cities, though. Maybe she burnt a prophet on one of them? Seems unlikely, but it also seems unlikely that she'd not have had a prophet yet. This is Izzy, right?
 
Not that this is a definitive answer but I took a look back at AK's save and Madrid is the Buddhist Holy city but Izzy hadn't built a shrine there yet. Once the dust settles we should try to accomplish that.

All of the above is fine with me, though I would also like to see some progress toward a great prophet for the shrine in Madrid.
 
I was going to build a temple in GP farm to run a priest plus we can spread variable religions there for more temple (and more priests). Seeing as we have stone we can probably build Maoi there too.

Taj would be great, but I would suggest that we spend the golden age building grenadiers or using golden age gold on upgrading CR berserkers to grenadiers. So I guess my preference is to push up chemistry in the research order. I guess the problem is that we have no idea who on the other continent might be close to liberalism.

Nidaros can whip Taj but I'd rather see us go a little easy on the whip (Someone has a heavy hand) as we should grow into our cottages. We need to MM within 1 turn of Lib. It would also be great to get Literature to build the HE and NE. Currently we can see research for both our foes. Once whip unhappiness dies down in Uppsala I'd fire the specialists and hope GP Farm can pop us a priest. I started cottaging over workshops in Spanish territory especially Madrid. When we go for Germany we should head for Berlin as the Pyramids will allow us to go US or Police State as we see fit. I'd continue to build infra during our upcoming GAge.

Well, my set was really, really boring. No screenies. Sorry.

Basically, I MMed research until we were 3 beakers away from liberalism and switched over to gunpowder. That came in on turn 279 and I selected chemistry, though we have few enough beakers invested to switch.

I then MMed specialists, firing all of the specialists in Upsala, where we would have had another scientist in 20-something turns. I switched to GP, but we could only work one priest. Still, I fired the two scientists and hired an engineer because we were about 50% - 50% between prophet and scientist there.

As soon as I could, I shipped a Buddhist missionary over to GP and 2-pop whipped a temple. That will come in on the Admiral's first turn. Please set GP to work a second priest and any other non-scientist specialist right away. We should have a prophet in 20-ish turns barring very unlucky RNG.

Taj came in and I pretty much wasted the first half of our golden age on very little exciting.

Biz and Sullieman made peace on my second turn and our only spy was caught in Germany.

Other than that, it's just that stupid period where the only things workers can do is put a road on every last f---ing tile. Sigh.
