ls612's C2C Units

I think that da vinci tank should require gunpowder tech since it have a guns

In think it needs to use a different animation for the Mammoth.

Aren't the kfm and the animation tied into each other? Or is it just the way the unit looks for the kfm??

I honestly don't know. All I know is that when I made the hi-tech marine it had weird stuff happen to the model and then when I told ls612 which model I used he changed it to use that models animation. Thus the Mammoth and Crossbow Rider may use another units animations which could fix it.

OK i see what your saying, but the Mammoth is just the kfm being wrong, that i know.

Unfortunately I don't know what kfm is the correct one for either of those two units, and I don't want to spend the time testing dozens of possible candidates. If one of you two can tell me which KFM works for those units I'll change it.

I'll look into it in 3 days, i will be busy for the next couple.

Hi there. After a couple of months of lurking, I've finally decided to create an account here. First of all, I'd like to congratulate you all for creating a fun and interesting mod.
And now for the reason why I'm posting here:
The unit upgrade tree has a number of errors in it (units being replaced by their IRL predecessors, some units are duplicated, sometimes there are several units filling the same role in one era with almost no differences between them, other times the role is unfilled for a certain era, etc... just open up in-game Civilopedia and look under the tab Unit upgrades).
I'm no stranger to editing XML files, so I can fix these myself, but I wonder if the mod team already has a dedicated "unit guy" I could just send my suggestions to?
I can have the list done by Sunday evening (unless something comes up).
I also have some other ideas, but those can wait for the time being.

@intlidave

I agree that the upgrade tree needs some fixes. I hate idea that cavalry unit is upgrading to helicopter now. For my strategy heli units are useless because they can not capture cities.

I agree some have been over looked are not quite correct, so any help what so ever would really be appreciated.

The main reason for this, well its me, i was in the 101st Airborne Division which is a now a "Ranger Training" area, and the main forces there are the helicopters. But the main reason, that its that way is because they have the "Cavalry" slogan on the helicopters and on Jul 4 of each year they "celebrate" this in Denver at a Parade and even have a special unit that has the old Calvary uniforms and horses, all dolled up and nice looking, so thats where this really comes from, actual prove of it. Remember Apocalypse Now, when they said "Here comes the Cavalry" (All the helicopters coming from the ocean area in the beginning of the film)

Welcome to C2C. ls612 and I are the "unit guys' at the moment and if you have any suggestions on specific units and why they the way they are please let us know. The units have been re-done a few times so we may have missed something. Please let us know exactly which units you think are "wrong".

I agree here, again we need all the ideas and suggestions available.

EDIT: Oh yeah, i forgot to ask, why did someone change the Rogue from unitcombat_archer to unitcombat_melee? He is a throwing dagger specialist???

Exactly, I still intend to work on Units, Promotions, and Techs, even though I will also be doing SDK stuff. Ant specific suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I need you to figure out before the next release WHY are the Thief's, Rogues, and Assassins, being seen?? They are supposed to be Camo-Invisible?? But you can see MOST of them in any area of the map?? Defeats the purpose of them.

EDIT: Another question, i thought that Warlords (Captains etc) were able to capture other warlords/workers etc??

Well if a Dog unit is around then they can be seen. Also I think other Thieves/Rogues can see them too.

That i already know, but i have put up some pics here already, that NOTHING is around them, and in my game i can see them all over the place (well almost all of them)?? No dog unit, no other thief's/Rogues/Assassin's around either??

Yes. Helicopters (in the US Army) were envisioned to be "cavalry of the skies". However this concept was later abandoned when it became obvious that paratroopers cannot hold their own against a well equipped enemy (and even against Vietcong irregulars they performed worse than mechanized infantry with M113s).
The proper replacement for horse cavalry was Armored cavalry

BTW I started a Google document for my suggestions, 4 pages and counting. In the first phase, I will focus on 20th century units and later, since this is where most errors/oddities are and it is also an area I'm rather familiar with. In case you want to, I can also type up some "historical info" text for Civilopedia entries.
