General Jackson,

A job well done against Isabella. You were on the mark concerning any activity against the Iroquois of course. In an embarassing momentary lack of focus, I had forgotten about the Right of Passage only recent agreed to. There was concern that the sheer number of Conquistadors might leave the west open to needless casualties as our forces were so spread out in pursuit of the French refugees. You obviously saw no such peril existed, and performed the Spanish mission in the same exemplary manner as we have come to expect. My lack of response to your initial questions was not meant as a lack of support of your conclusions. To the contrary, there was not the slightest objection nor disagreement to be raised of your very valid points. Again, my most profound appreciation for your services to date.

If General Halleck wishes to perform the Coup-de-grace against Isabella, I certainly have no objection. Otherwise, the curtain will come down on this woebegone civilization by my hand presently.

My friends,

If you will allow a brief review of events now passed. Spain's demise was a quick one as predicted by General Jackson. A brief lull in the fighting allowed us to prepare for war with the Iroquois. I must confess that I felt obligated to change our scientific research from Industrialization to a quick discovery of Nationalism. Asking the army to continue to fight on with muskets would not have been proper. As a result, the Army of Northern Virginia is now well equipped with rifles. Our cavalry has run rampant in the east, seizing all but one of the Iroquois towns in short order.

During peacetime, we did focus rail improvements to help with our core productivity. We can create new units faster in a number of towns.

If there is a popular consensus to conquer rather than dominate our continent, we can disband some towns if needed. In the meantime, there are any number of units to push into Iroquois territory with. Good Mr. Lincln kindly agreed to join us in the new conflict for wines. I believe that will be the last luxury he will be receiving from our great Confederacy. Once again, we are moving slowly along the path to industry. Be advised that America does have Cavalry. In the meantime, I have added an additional cav to each army as the Pentagon is now functioning.

Sincerely,

J. Davis

Well, no word from Tal.

Time to put this baby to bed. ;)

Got it.

Mr. Davis,

Regarding my earlier comments wishing to eradicate the world: I had no particular leanings one way or the other. I merely harkened back to one of your earliest statements that went something like “this should set up nicely for the final showdown with Lincoln”. To me, at least, that implied extermination. If that is not the case, then so much the better. I am merely here to fulfill my duties.

Whatever the case may be, I will endeavor to destroy the Iroquois and furthur expand our influence on this world. As such, I immediately spend what’s left of our treasury on some places of worship.

Our highly trained units tore through Iroquois land like wildfire. Indeed, they were slowed more by the terrain than the men they faced. I think in the course of my operations, I lost about 4 units. Because of this, I also had a shift in my thinking. Previously, I had desired to be victorious during my tenure, however that could be accomplished. In the year 1275, I did an about face. The Iroquois were down to a single settlement, defended by a spearmen, and I realized that it may indeed be possible to destroy the Americans as well. I knew they had no better than musketman defending all of their small towns. Unfortunately, I was now in a race against all of the temples that I had been buying. Added a nice uncertain element to my time.

The next year, the Iroquois are destroyed. I immediately turn my attention to Lincoln. As it turns out, he is very unhappy to hear from me. He is probably even more unhappy when he immediately gets the news that he has lost control of 10 of his 16 cities. :D Sadly, I can’t even buy another turn or two, as the dom limit has been passed.

I did not suffer a single counterattack during the interturn, and I estimate Lincoln would have been destroyed in about three more turns.

It has been my sincere pleasure serving under you,
Jackson

Bravo to General Jackson and the triumph of Confederate cavalry! The 5 luxuries early on was a huge advantage to our Republic. Rushing the armies towards the end of the conflict was a brilliant idea, one which I never had previously considered. Given the size of the land and the time the conflict ended, this was a very well run campaign by all participants. Finally, our thoughts are with Genl Halleck and hope that RL hasn't gotten the better of him.

I shall now return to my plantation and take up the reading of the epic "Rise and ???? of the SGOTM3 Roman Empire" ;)

Rushing the armies towards the end of the conflict was a brilliant idea, one which I never had previously considered.

To give proper credit, I never would have thought of it either. I have always viewed an army as a "small wonder", due to the high shield cost. This is something that SirPleb discovered in his HoF sid game. A good read, if you have the time.

As for the ??? of the Roman empire, well, I'm not sure there's so much of a ???, but we shall see.

Nice work guys. Any notes on the scenario itself? Anything you want me to edit for your next game?

I kept thinking that I should have given you a civil war UU, but as in truth, it was mostly the brilliance of the Confederate Generals and not the units that were able to hold the Confederacy together as long as they did.

First thing for the next version though: Eric Cartman with a truckload of Smores Schnopps as a MGL.

I thought it was fine, Kiech. Thanks again for your contribution. We could have used a few more southern city names, but that's about it. The lack of a CW UU was not a problem, the early GA allowed us to get a leg up on the competition during the expansion phase that we never relinquished.
