Mad Scientist Role Play Challenge: The American Cowboy.

The American Cowboy: Rounding up the First Posse

GW looked across the lands and decided there was much for the American people to do, or maybe to take. Whatever the case, Amercian expansion MUST occur.

HE started by deciding on the next Social Policy, tought to Americans mostly on the backs of the Bucharest City State generosity

MS-RPCWashC01.jpg

Called Oligarchy, it gives America a +33% defensive bonus in it's own borders, always a good thing. Many called for Liberty or Honor, but GW prefers to exhaust the Tradition tree first. Afterall, Taking everyone elses land is simply an American Tradition, right??

As the Settler heads out to found New York a workboat is prepped in Washington to quickly feed the new city. THis did not work out as favorably as there was a BArbarian ship at the southern tip of the land.

Also, the Americans forgoe intellectually or cultural enlightenment and research archery and horsebackriding for some good old fashioned American violence.

New York was founded on a hill

MS-RPCWashC03.jpg

And the New citizans praised the wisdom of earning that free defense ability. When GW told then that they were dolts and this is a new game, they were humbled and went about building a monument to their great leader. Meanwhile our lone leader went to work on the horses and the City of Washington built an archer.

To avoid any unpleasentless to our Bucharest Allies (at least before we can) GW pledged a vow of military support.

MS-RPCWashC04.jpg

Bucharest was so happy that they fueled further AMercian culture to the next Social Policy

MS-RPCWashC05.jpg

Monarchy is adopted and GW now becomes King George, getting a further 50% bonus to buying tiles.

Soon enough, Horseback riding was discovered

MS-RPCWashC06.jpg

And the technologies of Trapping, Bronze Working were researched next.

Before King George starts ripping apart the world he sits down with his Military advisor (while having some special time for the lady councilors!!!) to see what is out there

MS-RPCWashC07.jpg

MS-RPCWashC08.jpg

So Songhai is the same and Arabia is equal. Well, a Spear and a pair of warriors don't get you far these days.

To pump up the excess happiness to trigger of an early Golden Age, we managed to swing this deal

MS-RPCWashC09.jpg

Realeasing

MS-RPCWashC10.jpg

Thus archers and mounted units are built. The only problem is we built a Chariot and Horse Archer which used up the TWO horses we had! Ah well, we added a few extra archers/warriors.

Askia came buy to work on plans to overthrow the Arabias

MS-RPCWashC11.jpg

And we took the secret agreement.

Once again another Social Policy was offered and

MS-RPCWashC12.jpg

We adopted Legalism and it's reduced Unhappiness in the capital.

You can note that the Piety Social Branch has been unlocked. GW is not interested in religious principals and rejects them for the entire game.

America was established a healthy treasury which they use

MS-RPCWashC13.jpg

To buy an archer. Once again the American people are furious at promised funds diverted from the needs of the people towards excess military productions. Once again King George laughs behind their backs and makes another pretty speech.

At this point our modest army is sent off towards MEdina

MS-RPCWashC14.jpg

2 Spears, 2 warriors, 2 archers, a chariot and a Horseman. Our Military Advisor friend now says Arabia has no military and that Songhai's is pathetic but we should not make fun of them too much.

We saved here just after the Golden Age finished (which sped along the military buildup) and as we started researching Iron working.

The cities of Washington

MS-RPCWashC15.jpg

And New York

MS-RPCWashC16.jpg

So King George put's aside his crown, puts on a good black cowboy hat, moutns his horse to lead the proud American Horse Archery Unit, and prepares for American expansion.

The questions is WHO do we hit first???

Arabia is closer and has more cities while Songhai is further away but tends to be stronger. Taking down Askia with a Great General in tow will certainly help.

That's going to be some pleasant overkill. I usually take a spear and two archers for the first city. But, yeah, take Arabia first.

It's hard to tell, but is their land any good? Looks like mostly desert.

not enough jokes:(
here have some
Spoiler :
A cowboys came upon a rattlesnake

cowboy drew his six-gun to shoot the snake. "Hold on there, partner," said the snake, "don't shoot - I'm an enchanted rattlesnake, and if you don't shoot me, I'll give you any three wishes you want."

He said, "Okay, first, I'd like to have a face like Clark Gable, then, I'd like a build like Arnold Schwarzenegger, and finally, I'd like sexual equipment like this here horse I'm riding."

The rattlesnake said, "All right, when you get back to the bunk house you'll have all three wishes." The cowboy turned his horse around and galloped at full speed all the way to the bunk house. He dismounted on the run and went straight inside to the mirror.

Staring back at him in the mirror was the face of Clark Gable. He ripped the shirt off his back and revealed bulging, rippling muscles, just like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Really excited now, he tore down his jeans, looked at his crotch and shouted, "Oh my God, I was riding the mare!"
now LAUGH:trouble:

Before King George starts ripping apart the world he sits down with his Military advisor (while having some special time for the lady councilors!!!) to see what is out there

Ah, so you enjoy Morena Baccarin's company too?

I'm loving this LP Mad. I'd suggest you take out Arabia first, then when you get your GG from either Honer or from fighting, you should go out and take out Askia.

Hi!

I was a major lurker for your RFC series! I started with Satan, and then have read every Civ 4 RFC. It’s really great that you’ve started this up again!

:D

That game looks fun !

I say, raze all cities except the 2 capitals then go for cultural victory to promote the american way throughout the world and ensure that the Utopia project is built on the back of Microsoft and Coca Cola. You can use manifest to buy any missing lands but wonder spamming should do it for you.

Also, you should make sure the statue of liberty is built in NY and if the iroquois are in the game, you have to bully them all time. Your american after all.

The American Cowboy: The Arabian Turkey Shoot

YEEHAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The American King, sheriff, general, er well Old George has mounted his favorite horse and ridden far north in search of Arabian Outlaws.

Lord Askia has announced to the good old American Leader that his honorable agreement has come due.

MS-RPCWashD01.jpg

Sure enough, George is happy to ablige, and the Americna war machine churns foreward into Arabian lands.

MS-RPCWashD02.jpg

Unfortunately the Arabian Neighbors from a place done called Venice claimed they were done ALLIES of the great Hasakem al bubala something or another and attacked the fine American army.

At this critical time GW's new could friend has shown his true colors

MS-RPCWashD03.jpg

In the interest of neighborlyness and frankly because there was noone to trade pearls with, we gave in but secretly the GENERAL swore vengence. But patience, patience, patience. The Arab nation is quite large and there is the city of Venice with a larger army than Arabia to recon with.

As the American war machine moves towards Medina IRon Working is finished

MS-RPCWashD04.jpg

And quickly GW learns from scout that America

MS-RPCWashD05.jpg

Has NO iron.

That did not stop the American war-machine which quickly took and razed Medina after archery assault and Spear/Horseman attacks

MS-RPCWashD06.jpg

Sorry folks, I am learning the proper way to get screenshots of warring, take them BEFORE the city is attacked!

Such as with Mecca

MS-RPCWashD07.jpg

Well danged, now we are gonna have to start another war with our friend/former friend later on. But for now the critical Arabian cities were captured at the expense of much of the American army.

Just when GW thought to get a temporary reprise, a gent name Eugene arrived to better lead our troops

MS-RPCWashD08.jpg

Eugene is sent towards the front for his +25% moral leadership to the troops.

Meanwhile Mecca has come on line showing

MS-RPCWashD09.jpg

I LIKE KEEPING CULTURE BORDERS!

Arabia has a flood of iron handy, and few gold from GWs purse got us another iron mine to the north for a total of 12 irons! Enough to build swords and kill the Songhai dog later on.

Before that though the two remaining cities of Arabia were captured and razed

MS-RPCWashD10.jpg

Dam you, you say enlighten American but your planning to Arabify good old American soil. The world is better with out ya!

Our Military advisor warns us

MS-RPCWashD11.jpg

Hah! Worried about Songhai, we got tons of iron for swords, plus the General still gots his horse.

To illustrate matters

MS-RPCWashD12.jpg

Askia has 2 cities, with Gao very very close by.

GW was not all warfare, he also research writing to learn his letters and also Math to learn his numbers.

SO I say it's time to exterminate this Songhalian menace. ONE good catapult, some swords and perhaps a space horse for the general.

then

KILL, KILL, KILL

The American way!

I'm pretty sure Horsemen are better than Swords, if the enemy doesn't have spears. Maybe sell some of the Iron to make him build swords rather than spears. However, if you trade for a luxury, you set off a bug that will give you tons of iron.

Venice needs to be punished, take them down first. And take down the barbarians near Hanoi, its easy influence.

.

Which is why I won't do this.

I like your approach to the iron supply issue better than mine. I hadn't been building a military as much as you had and so when Iron Working popped I used a settler to found a city at the top of the bay by the two iron supply. I never was a rusher, but it seems to really pay off in this game.

Keep 'em coming, Mad!

Catapult at this stage will be a waste of time ! I say, rob him from all his money, upgrade your swordsmen and Dow him immediately and before he can meet another AI and tell him what awful bloothirsty warmonger you are.

I've found Catapults work better defensively than offensively, but why not? Mad probably hasn't had a lot of time to play with them yet, and this is as good of a time as any. Fun is always my rule #1.

I agree, take out Songhai before you meet any more AIs and you can just smile and say "Yep, just me here. Nope, Arabia, Songhai? Never heard of 'em"

You're going to want a monastery in Mecca fast for the bonus culture.

Catapults have rediculous strength, more than double that of the archer. And if you get it into range before the war starts, you can set up and fire on the same turn. You don't even need to put it in range of the city to start with, as it destroys all ground units, allowing even a warrior to mop up a swordsmen.

Plus it's damned cool and fun!

American ingenuity, always use the latest and best!

Something else to note, make sure you've made peace with Venice now that Arabia is no more. It looks like you have, but just to make sure. :)

Yeah, I took peace as soon as I could. Damned Veneticans killed all the warriors on me, did better than the pathetic Arabs.
