Perhaps in general, but MAD TV has occasionally funny things and it does have a few very talented people. SNL indeed has gone downhill, whereas MAD TV was always a crapshoot it seems.

MAD TV is more inconsistant. Their best skits are better, their worst skits are painful. SNL tends to be solid (although there has been some decay) and more regular in the amount of laughs it draws.

Ultimately, SNL has been on for what? 33 years now? Hard to beat that.

Indeed. As a wee young VRWCA, I had the priviledge of seeing the original cast aired live. MADTV could never hope to compare.

MadTv was always awful. SNL had a bit of a downturn for a few years, but has now recovered dramatically.

How is this even a debate? Have you guys even *seen* SNL?

A few years ago SNL was bad, but then Will Ferrrel and Jimmy Falon left the show, and the last couple of seasons have been pretty good. This is not they heydey of the 70s, but it's the best it's been in a long time if you ask me.

I've given MADtv several chances and it has disapponted me every time.
