NIGHT ONE
The Villagers of Town slept soundly through the night, for the most part. Some slept not-so-soundly, some slept not-exactly-soundly-at-all, and one in particular couldn't sleep, and got up out of bed and danced around on his lawn dressed as Batman. But other than that, they slept soundly, except the ones who were out killing people.
The following morning, at the daily meeting of lynchitude, they realized that 3 of their number were missing. They decided to investigate.
They went to Takhisis's house first.

Then, they went to Winston Hughes' house. The smell coming from his room was enough to deter them from entering, although they found a tape outside his room and decided to play it in a VCR. Well, as soon as they could find an actual VCR. Who still uses VCR's, anyway?

Finally, to link16's house. This one didn't smell as bad, as the killer didn't leave meat lying around, and it also appeared there was some form of air freshener.

After thinking a bit about this, they decided to get all of their lynch-gear ready and catch a mafia, although it took them a bit to find the Holy Bandwagon.
IT IS NOW DAY ONE. VOTE, BLAH BLAH BLAH.
(And no, those aren't actual roles, clues, or anything to do with the game at all, that's just me being silly with the write-up, like with all the other flavoring.
Ignore them for all purposes relating to the game.)

Well, now he's certainly out of the game. Sorry about that, mafia. On the other hand, you probably should have noticed he wasn't playing, too, he wasn't even in the sign-up list. Besides, 3 Mafia for 18 Players has always appeared to be slightly more Balanced in clue games than 3 for 17.
To sum up, that was a rather hilarious error by the mafia that neither they nor I caught, and I'm just going to ignore it now.

No, the role names I gave weren't clues, that was just stuff I made up. The clues, the actual mafia kills, were actual clues. Sorry for not being clear.

Obvious frame of civplayah. But this time, we do have something else to go on. Whoever wrote this, unless intentionally doing so, wrote it rather clumsily. But I would also assume a quite good command of the English language. classical_hero seems to fit this profile (sorry, but you're writing is often on the clumsy side).

Catharsis is also another possibility for the exact same reasons (searching his posts turns up more Pokemon hits than Kennigit's). Catharsis has also used Pokemon as a clue previously. The reason I vote for Kennigit instead is that I doubt Catharsis would use the same type of clue used in a reasonably recent game, in a more obvious form.
