Making arguments for the wrong reason, or, "legalize to tax it"

There can be multiple equally valid reasons to support a position. Why not argue all of them, regardless of which ones you consider more important than others?
 
Because if some are more important then they're not equally valid. ;)
 
Validity is not the same thing as importance.

I agree, but the point is to not lose sight of what the core purpose, rationalization, and logic from. And that's what often happens when the rhetoric and margins-based politics makes people forget.
