Many Leaders Game

Nice artwork, mice!
I'm sorry about delaying that too much.... But, you know... Pigswill is not the only one that has a wife shouting: "You play too much civ!", "You don't give me attention!", "You don't love me anymore", and stuff like that. ;)
As you already said, you'll be off for this month. If the next come next month only, I'll join you again, for sure. I think I'll be one lap behind again, but who knows! :)
Congratulations, pigswill! Next time, I wanna see someone bring Toku to space and win! :D
On that regard, just a curiosity. Mice, I know you WorldBuildered this game to change the human leaders. What if someone asked for a leader that was already in the game? Would we have 2 Toku's?

Bring on the revenge match
Well, some rules have to be changed.
One victory goal is a must, because domination victories always
give a better score.

Or, each player starts a different game and post only the finish date.
So, another player can take the challenge to beat that date.

Yes 2 Tokus is possible. The Colour of the land changes a bit so that you dont get confused. Also you dont need to go into world builder. I worked out how to change the starting units without doing that, so I get no advantage. But even this time I just didnt look because I like a real game.

About victory condition. We can just vote at the begining which one to go for.

Thinking about this one, It was great to see the early development with different UU UB, traits, play style. Then Christmas came along and things stretched out a bit. We missed seeing what people did with National wonders, city builds,a bit more of the diplomacy, war tactics. Hopefully next time the later turnsets can be compared more.

Difficulty. I hope Prince wasnt too easy. Did anyone feel it was a walk over? I thought if it was Monarch, 1: I would probably lose 2: the games would stretch out to modern armor.

So Prince means the games can finish in the 20th century and things dont drag out too much.

And may I ask you how you did that? ;)

Space victory playing Toku on warlords prince sounds good to me.

Sorry for lack of clarity. I was thinking that we would play the next game the same as this one except pre-selecting victory condition and I was making an early bid to play Tokugawa while other players pick someone else.
Edit: If we were playing conquest/domination then I'd pick a different leader, maybe Louis.

What about the competition players choose a leader for you,
so you can't pick your (favorite) leader?

Absolutely. I picked Tok for space and Louis for war coz they're probably hardest (hubris, what's that?) but if other people want to pick me a leader that's fine.

I had already thought along pigswill's lines and came up with Tokogawa (Diplomatic), Montezuma (Culture), Genghis Khan (Space) and Frederick (Domination)
A backdoor diplomatic victory, an early religion and a huge organized emipire. :hmm:

Part of the skill is looking at the map and chosing the leader based on that, but with a set victory condition I guess the leader choice would be determined more by that. I'd rather pick by myself.

Fbelintani,it happens in the world builder save that apears in Warlords/Saves/Single/Worldbuilder.

This can be opened and edited with notepad or such.Delete any save sitting in there, and a new one will be made when you run a game.

The leader = 0 (player's leader) is cut and pasted here from some other WB save which you generate earlier by running a game with that leader.

You have to scroll down a bit to get to this part. It starts at something like '"begin leader" and ends at "end leader".

When you have the WB save altered, run it , and save this game to your computer. Repeat the process using another leaders info from a WB save of another game you ran iwith that leader.

Also you need to change the starting techs which are also those for leader 0 and found just above the leader info. Leader 0 starting techs
This can be typed in, but I found sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, so i went into worldbuilder to make sure they were right for each leader.

In the same file, use the search function to find "unittype" . Find unit type for leader 0, and you can see the units which the leader starts with. This can be changed eg. Warrior to Scout. No problems.

About 10 days after the last post and some more from the official end of this game, here it is:

Alexander wins a domination victory in 1886 AD! Augustus Ceasar, 34558 points!
I think I did some REALLY smokes after getting mice's advice around 1500 AD, like being on Universal Suffrage to run deficit research and running A LOT of specialists and caste system, but... Anyway... I would have to declare on the americans for about 10 tiles to get above domination limit. As soon as I saw Japan declaring, I did the same as Roosevelt was distracted by Toku.

It was not just my personal best. It was also my first victory on Prince level EVER. So, I'm really happy with this. It took longer than I expected (and my wife is kinda bored right now), but they say the first time always hurts.... ;)

So, the last autosave if Mice (or anyone) wants some data.
