MapView 2.0 - Civilization 4 Editor

Hmm.. I can change to the stock mods successfully. However, every time I change to Fall From Heaven 2 I get a CTD:

AppName: mapview.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: msvcr80.dll
ModVer: 8.0.50727.1433 Offset: 00014500

Not sure if that will help any. But I think it may be due to FFH changing the terrain schema..?

That would be one great place to have scrollbars :-).

Are you going to release the source?

I planned to release an API that would help you work on your own things, create plugins etc. but i just notice it's not that great yet. Mayb in a while.

Since FFH 2 is so important i'll look right into it and see what's wrong.

OK on my pc i usually use for modding v. 2.0.2 doesn't work - it's still crashing - software did wrong and will be closed - if it might be helpful i can send you report that windows generate.

I tested program on my "media center" pc - it works without problems (tough i don't have installed civ there yet). I think i'll grab pc from tv to my room and try to work on it untill the maps are done :)

I'm really wondering why this is happening. Could it be that you don't have MS .NET 2.0 installed on the target machines? I didn't know how the requirement could have gotten into the project but you could see if this solves the issue.
 
I thought the same and deinstalled yesterday shortly before my first post here .NET 2.0 and installed .NET 3.5 SP1 with which 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2 where also installed. So i have 2.0 SP2, 2.5 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 on my machine.
It's strange because it worked as described in Vista after i copied the dll into the folder until i chosed the civ installation destination. Strange.... :confused:
 
I hope i fixed the bug with FFH2. I can now change to 'Fall from Heaven 2 034' without problems.

It's been an issue with some languages in the text fukes beeing empty. So whenever a mod crashes you could always try to rename the Text folder of the mod so Mapview won't find it.

Could you please go and see if it still causes errors when your start MapView without 'plug_editor.dll' inside the MapView Folder? Will it start then?

Edit: Please do this before you upgrade to 2.0.3. Would be extremly helpful.

Edit2: I was able to reproduce an error where it will crash with 2.0.2 and perfectly load with 2.0.3. I hope the problem is fixed now.

Yes, 2.0.2 started without the plug_editor.dll just fine :)

2.0.3 works perfect now. Thank you very much :goodjob:

I noticed i don't take care of all cases in the *.xml files.

For example i'm looking for terrain booleans etc. and don't check if i may access the subnode or if it might be broken.

You probably have modified your default Civ4 xml files or your version has something wrong. If 2.0.3 still causes errors i will compile a debug version of the editor to help you find the file causing the error.

Edit: Try this with 2.0.3 to find out which file will cause the error.

When everything goes right you'll get a "No Errors" message. The Last file displayed will be the one causing the error.
 
Tried and i get the No Errors Message.
I'm using Bluemarble and a german community translation, both of them do changes in the original files as far as i know.

I have installed polonization on civ (and few other things like blue marble for example) - maybe that's the problem - i'll reinstall civ tomorrow.

i red few other posts and yes - plug_Editor.dll was making troubles in 2.0.2 now it works on every machine :)

Plus i cant drag and drop like the other one?


Sorry i don't understand what u try to do and what is not as you expect. Could you try you rephrase your problem and what you are doing? ty
 
OK in the old MapView, you could just drop and drag a map into mapview and go from there, you cant do that with this version, causes plugin errors. (I have everything you have in the first post also)

When i go to open file and try to view a map all i get in the windows area is the bottom left corner of the map, and you cant move it.
 
When I save my map, I get a 0KB file which then doesn't load in civ4 BTS. I tried saving as vanilla and got the same result.

@strategyonly, hold space bar and move the mouse to move the map.

edit: when I go and save it in notepad I get a file that actually has space, like 200KB plus, but civ4 BTS still says it can't read it.

I tried this also with a map that I didn't touch, just saving it, got the same problem. Went it notepad and re-saved it, then tried again and still was not recognized in game.

OK that worked, but i need to see the map also in a much smaller size to i can compare, like the old one(i used to be able to see about 3/4 of the map)??

Hit spacebar (and keep it hitted until you move/zoom map) and use cursors or left click of the mouse. Right click is for zooming in and out.

I like it made this way - in old map view map offten escaped wich was annoying if you were checking other file in for example graphic program where place for example resources.

Now it's moving only when i want to move it and it's good solution imo :)

I tried every button (cursors?) on the keyboard and they do nothing??

I kept on hitting the right click about 25 times to get it to zoom down, then i couldnt get it to zoom back?

Then i just found out that by not hitting it, but holding the right button down it zoomed in and out quite well.

Tried the eraser and could not get it to work correctly, it worked on terrtain that was forest but thats it, didnt erase anything else?

Tried selection, but as soon as i tried it, it went red (block) and the whole thing froze on me then? Then after about a minute it was back, but again the eraser didnt work? And couldnt get rid of the selection area?
