Marauder (Battletech)

As for the un-seen Fasa 'Mechs which were rip offs of Robotech and a few other Japanese shows/games... Classic Battletech has some new life in them. In fact, they have Project Phoenix. Where the old "unseen" 'Mechs have been slightly changed to make them "viewable." However, who wants to see a new Marauder when the old Zentradi Commander's POD looks so much better in Battletech combat?

However, there are several 'Mechs that I would love to see in CIV. My choice IS 'Mechs are:

For lights:
Locusts, Stinger, Commando, Javelin, Jenner, Wolfhound, Urbanmech, and Panther.

For mediums:
Phoenix Hawk, Crab, Vulcan, Wolverine, Shadow Hawk, Centurion, Hunchback, Blackjack, and Trebucket.

For heavies:
Marauder (already done), Rifleman, Catapult, Archer, Thunderbolt, Dragon, Grasshopper, Crusader, and (of course) the Warhammer

for Assualts:

Atlas, Victor, Zeus, Battlemaster, Awesome, Stalker, Highlander, and the Cyclops

Hello,

I am also re-designing the mod, and since I have not played CIV iv or BtS for ages... been trying to play a few games to remember how to play again. In MPBT, everyone loved the Catapult CPLT-C1 design. However, I was a Wolverine pilot. The standard version was the AC/5; my version was the Large Laser design.

Good luck ! Making a mod is a long run job ! I'm in my Team since 3 years and it seems we will never finish it.

Battletech: What a game ! I've played it in the late 80s, beginning of the 90s when i was student. I still have it in a cardbox (below tons of dust) but there is no more players in my city...
My favorite were:
- Light: Locust (fun to play, but more or less useless on battlefield)
- Medium: Cicada (a kind of locust ;))
- Heavy: Thunderbolt forever ! A bit tuned of course. Without the MGs for example.
- Assault: The King ! Battlemaster ..... (Note that the Awesome is in some case very fun too)

I hope you will make this mod. Really.

Hian the Frog.

:) thanks alot, unfortunally the mech is still not finished, there is still the animation problems, my next (yes there will be a next - it´s only a question when i have time for it) will be the Warhammer, it´s a must for me. It was the first mech i made, one problem is most mech would need a custom animation and there is still a problem when working with blender and trying to create new animation. And yes you can use the model ;)

I also hope that you start the mod again, perhaps if the mod shows enough progress even another modeller joins the creation of mechs.

I think after the Warhammer the next mechs would be the locust (as generic light, shadow hawk as medium, heavy is covered and the Battlemaster, stalker or Awesome as assault)

Well, I am no pro at this. However, if you change the chassis a bit and lose the arms - then decrease the size of the marauder it could be a locust or cicada cousin (from the Project Phoenix TRO) likewise, create a Timberwolf (aka Mad Cat) and lose the arms and wham ... catapult.

Warhammer is a much loved and very solid design. I am still surprised how much change and life civ iv and Beyond the Sword still has.

Actually I believe the Wolverine is not a Robotech design. Most of the unseen are Robotech 'Mechs, as I remember.

Locust comes from a Company called Crusher Joe and the Mecha was called Ostall.

The Griffin came from a company called Dougram - (or something) and the mecha was a battlesuit H8 Roundfacer.

Shadow Hawk was also from Dougram called Dougram Combat Armor.

The Wolverine is also from Dougram and the Mecha was called T10B,C Blockhead.

However, it gets worse... they also copied a few dropships and aerospace vehicles and tanks as well! DAMN FASA LACK OF IMMAGINATION. Keep in mind, In the Battletech board game... they used copies of internal diagrams which looked NOTHING like the freakin 'Mech to begin with!

The Corsair and Samurai aerospace fighters are near-exact copies of the Crusher Joe Siren and Harpy, while the Sparrowhawk appears to be a blend of the two. The 3025 Galleon Tank is also an exact copy of the Crusher Joe Galleon tank, while the Leopard Class dropship is a heavily modified version of the Crusher Joe Minerva. Although there is little doubt of the origins of these, there is some confusion as to whether or not they are considered Unseen. Most of this confusion stems from the fact that Ral Partha (now Iron Wind Metals) ceased production of the miniatures. I need only point to the revised Technical Readout: 3025 to show that only the Galleon tank was removed. If the tech readouts were revised specifically to remove the Unseen images; why are the Sparrowhawk, Corsair, and Leopard dropship still present? The Samurai's image was always scarce in publications and never appeared in an official Technical Readout. Iron Wind currently sells a resculpted (but essentially unchanged) Corsair aerospace fighter mini. Yes... vehicles/aeros are very confusing indeed.

If you do an E-bay search for Battletech Dougram Wolverine is selling one, currently for about $11 USD. Hey I may have to buy it now! HA

In all fairness, that was way back in the time when the game was still called "BattleDroids." Given the plethora of 'Mechs produced since then (along with all the other games FASA did), I hardly think you can accuse FASA writers of being unimaginative.

I should mention that they stopped using all 'mechs that were produced "out of house" (that is, where FASA/WizKids does not hold the copyright) have all been dropped as well. This mainly concerns a bunch of 'Mechs in the 3055 readout, notably all the color-page 'Mechs and several anime-style ones, like the Vapor Eagle/Goshawk and Incubus/Vixen, Stone Rhino/Behemoth, hell, just about every clan 'Mech in the 3055 TRO. To my knowledge, they've already produced most of these new 'unseen' 'Mech miniatures. Personally, I've got an original Incubus and a recast Vapor Eagle.

uploaded new testversion in the problem thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=291292

if it is confirmed that the problems are solved the unit could leave the beta status, so please test it.

Also the animation now plays like they should, so comments (including constructive critism - it was my first ever) considering the animation would be also nice

Edit: no comments or confirments so far? ok small prev of the new skins which will be added in the next upload, the right two shows the teamcolour version. And i like the red one so dark.

edit: pic removed

Where I download these skins?

From the next upload, meaning it isn't available yet. ;)

This unit is in the Planetfall mod, but I don't know if your latest version is already in.

end of week, no critics or bug reports so far, so here is the final version (changed OP of the thread)

Will The_Coyote modify the animations?

here you lost me, i didn´t changed the old aniamtion, but added two new die and strike versions.

Where I download these skins?

At least i know you wanted the new skins, so thanks :) Not a lot feedback these days

Nice one, I have been following this unit but didn't say anything before the final version arrived. This one will definitely go into my mod ;)

Great Work.

There might be a slight glitch on the units death animation.
Die_Fade anim usually will start on the same frame/pose where Die have finish (this is btw. a possibility to "cheat" a bit - if you need more time for death, just sterch it into the fade phase).
I think the way you set your animations, the unit will fall (Die) then "stand up" again and fade out. I didn't seen it in the game yet however - it's just from my experience - so i might be wrong.

I am also curious about the effect. Have you been able to export a animated effect ?

Thanks :)

Thank you for tip with the death animation. The glitch, first i had this, but setting the values (Rotation, position, scale) to the end position of the death animation in the NiTransform objects in the kf solved the problem.

i only imported the texture and changed the colour but nothing else, importing and exporting a effect i haven´t tried so far (and i believe it doesn´t work, at least afaik particles aren´t supported so far.

again thanks :)

The_Coyote, have you ever thought of making the mech from StarCraft? :mischief:

the Goliath, not really, perhaps when i´m in the right mood, but i wouldn´t expect it soon (my actual to do list has something about 6 to 10 models, my want do list is "only" a bit longer  )
