No, Polynesia doesn't have the historical "importance" some may want.
But if you're looking for variety and a unique flavor, it's pure gold.
Including a "civilization" that some people might not view as influential or cohesive enough for their taste and including fantastical wonders are totally different things.
I hope the new patch fixs ALL the road/connection concerns. I'm glad to see hooking up roads to CS's is fixed because this will also fix where even a friendly CS can break your route by expanding over your road. What I'm wondering is if they get the city to harbor thing fixed. If my capital is not coastal, it can't build a harbor, and harbor to harbor connections with other cities don't work. What that means is, if I don't put my capital on the coast, I'll never have harbor connections. I hope that is fixed.
I am not sure that is really broken. I have never had a problem, as long as there is a road connection to a city with a harbor the trade routes seem to connect.
Few things:
- It's still February for a few hours.
- Even if delayed: I would hope that most of you would prefer a working patch, to a buggy one. Or a more inclusive patch to a more limited one. The only two reasons it would be delayed are bugs or additional fixes, so either way, it's a good thing.
Stop with the damn whining already.
On to Polynesia: Didn't know that was announced. Few things here:
- No, they aren't "historically important" unless you consider the fact that they settled the pacific using canoes and completed human expansion across the globe. No, not important at all. Course not.
- Civ has never had any civilization from the Oceania region. Just looking at the civs currently in game, you can see some desire to be more inclusive.
- They look like they'll be fun, and they are consistently in the most requested civilizations on the 2K forums.
It is natural that people are whining. 2K said that the patch would be out in February. Today is the last day and still no word, this is very unprofessional. If they need to delay it for some reason it's ok, but they should make a simple post explaining that patch is delayed and they will give a new releases date as soon as possible.
Really this is the basic of communication, 2K is getting the whining because they are not able to communicate with their customers, imho.
I don't see how can people complain about DLC. It's optional content. If you don't like it, don't buy it. WTH
I'm just not sure how well it works with Thalassicus' mod, without which I don't play at all currently. It's on my radar, though, and it deserves plugging. You may give a chance to the WhatWouldGandhiDo mod
I know, it is not the oroginal Firaxis way you criticize...
...I just mention as to perhaps help to make playing civ5 a better experience![]()
The last day is not over yet.... I would expect either the patch or a statement at 5 pm today (PST). Sorry to all the Eurasians and east coasters, but that's probably how it will be.
Since Firaxis is located on the east coast, I would expect it by 5-6pm at the latest, since they'll want to get it out the door before they all head home for the day.
8 days to react, only?OR... February Patch Notes!
Wait... what?![]()
Or as we say in the business world... marketing ploys!Except both are being packaged as fundraiser DLCs while the discontented consumers wait patiently for substantive patches that actually address the significant flaws in game mechanics, not the least of which being the AI.
It is natural that people are whining. 2K said that the patch would be out in February.
