Marians: Sons of Mars

Only the last state to annex gets free techs, since they inherit half of whatever the destroyed nation had invested. Germany profited the most from the least amount of effort... it pays to be the last one to attack for this reason.

---

Carthage, sensing weakness in the Jewish world now that Kiev and Poland have collapsed, decides to create a domino effect and invade Cyrene. This will keep the Austrians from conquering it come next turn.

7 armies are recruited to finish off Cyrene.

Cyrene's entire homeland is occupied, and Carthage gives the exact amount of gold Austria needs to build 2 armies to the Habsburgs, allowing them to eliminate the Cyrenaicans.

---

We are now down to 59 states!

any Jewish states left? also, what the heck is Cyrene?

There are three Jewish states left - Rome, Norway, and Outer Rus. They all have a casus belli on Russia due to it occupying the holy city of Kiev, as well.

You'd think for a Greek enthusiast, you'd know where Cyrene is. :p Cyrenaica, eastern Libya, etc.

...well this is interesting. *coughs nervously* better stay on my toes then...

granted i can take two of them on without serious trouble but id rather not. (outer rus, as a vassal of Germany cannot independently act)

The Qin and Singaporean governments accept the trade agremeents; the alliance is accepted; the royal marriages are also accepted.

Correction! When taking over another state, you can reset their sliders as if the game had just started; i.e. you can make their policies anywhere from +2 to -2 with flavor policies. :p

No, every 2 levels. :p Diplo 4 gives you 3 trade agreements, for example - one base, and two added on due to Diplo tech.

Oh ok.. so with Diplo 6 I get 4? Works :)

In that case, a trade agreement is offered along with the Royal Marriage to whoever wants to RP an offer.

Would this game be a better fit in the NES section?

Anyway, new sliders:

Land vs. Naval: -2
Offensive vs. Defensive: 2
Protectionism vs. Free Trade: 0
Centralisation vs. Decentralisation: -5 (No Change)
Public vs. Private Ownership: -1
Quality vs. Quantity: 2
Openminded vs. Closeminded: 2

Tanicius, what comic is that? Looks interesting

You have Iberia's backing! ;) And Astrakhan's... and we can also muster up France/Lombardy's powers if necessary.

Correct!

I'm not sure; everyone else will have to decide. :) And the mods, most importantly.

Tanicius, what comic is that? Looks interesting

Grand Hunter by Elson 'Darkspeeds' Wong; the first few issues are black and white but recently they've entered color. :)

i consider it to be an IOT game, not NES, simply by playing this game.

Read the first few chapters. I like it, very funny lots of historical irony. Still partial to Schlock Mercenary though.

@NES yea, I just think that you would pick up a few more players there. Less ruling the world by proxy for ya ;)

One last question. When you take the value for free trade bonuses, is it just of the brute GDP or after modifiers like vassal state income/deductions and army maintenance?

I didn't pick up on any historical irony despite my learnings in history...

It also means I have to lump all my posts into one whenever I post wars to avoid spamming PC.

One last question. When you take the value for free trade bonuses, is it just of the brute GDP or after modifiers like vassal state income/deductions and army maintenance?

It's the base income and the base income modifiers, that is: the provincial income + Infra first, then multipled by any bonus from Infra tech(say, +10% for Infra 5), and then any national power income bonuses, such as Superior Engineers' +10%.

Example. State A has 20 provinces, Infra 5, and Superior Engineers. 20 + 5 = 25. 25 * 1.10(the separate Infra bonus) * 1.10(Superior Engineers) = 30.25 The base income is always rounded up/down, and then the trade gleaned from it calculated there. Example: if you have just a trade agreement with this state, you get 3 income per turn due to it being 10% of 30.

The exact trade amount is, likewise, rounded up/down. If it came out to 3.6 somehow, you'd get 4 in trade income.

What first stood out to me was the reference to the three G's of spanish conquest and treasure hunting, god gold and glory. It was the 3 F's in the comic. Edit: Freedom, fame, fortune, and how they relate to the main characters actualy being the good guys where the spanish.. wernt.

And thanks for the explanation, sorry to trouble ya.

Whenever Domination gets back from vacation, i'll give Nubia my last trade agreement.

Alright. That's just Omega needing to give orders...

Amazon has 41 armies. Patagonia-Argentina only has 13 armies to protect it, spread over 29 provinces.

The Provisional Government, knowing this is their last chance, orders a brutal assault on the entirety of the Cone.

Amazon has 12 armies left. Using the gold from Argentina, it acquires 2 more. With this, it is able to annex Patagonia and have 1 army left over. Having blitzed Patagonia all on its own, it gets a parting gift - Patagonia's income.

Amazon's treasury is now a solid 31.2 gold.

With it, Amazon is able to move up an Infra level, AND recruit 5 more armies.

6 armies stay on the defensive.

That leaves Maracaibo and Guyana. Maracaibo makes the first move.

Maracaibo ends up with 23 giant armies. The desire to march to the Atlantic is strong.

Finally, the Amazonian army is crushed, but the Maraicabese only have 1 extra army. In total, they capture 7 territories.

Guyana, with 12 armies, is able to conquer 12 provinces without opposition.

When the dust settles, the Amazon has annexed two coalition members, but has lost most of its homeland to the enemy. All that said, they've had a net gain of 6 provinces this turn, and have also eliminated one flank. Could Amazon's luck be turning around...?

Well if Carthage were to be eliminated...

:mischief:

destroy carthage if you must, but try not to destroy half of Iberia doing so.

also, i forgot what state controls the Siberian part of Russia. is it Astrakhan?

Nope. The Not-so-aptly-named Kamtchatka does. ;)

Did you convert to something non-pagan?
