FV 432 APC

MatteM's unit modeling and retexturing workshop 2018-11-05

Hmmm, but your model have 4 funnels and Dresden clas had only 3. But the later königsberg class actually had also 3..

Haha yes, well the model is from World of Warships and it seems there's a funny story behind the fourth funnel:

British CAs of that time had 4 stacks. German CAs had 3. Emden was a commerce raider operating alone while being hunted by the British. The fake 4th funnel that the captain of the Emden had erected was to fool British ships into thinking he was a British CA.

This act of fakery was also practiced by the British with their somewhat famous "Q" ships. "Q" ships had the appearance of un-armed freighters. In reality they were heavily armed vessels which would fly false colors to lure submarines into surface attacks. The "Q" ship would then hoist the English Naval ensign, uncover their guns and blast the surfaced submarine.

Converted from Danrells Civ 5 ww2-pack is Pisa Class cruiser.

The model is altered slightly and retextured by me, I will make a Greek version as well so that they also get a WW1-era cruiser.

 great little detail

Please upload these two fantastic models also:bowdown:

Btw Matte, could you upload that ocean liner you posted on this thread. Just noticed it and it looks great, I could use model like that in my modmod. I believe its first ocean liner model here.

I really want to make an ocean liner from the early 1900s, however that model I used was really not fit for purpose, could you please help me search through the internet for Titanic/Ocean liner models? I have very limited time I'm afraid but if you find one send me and I'll make a unit of it. It needs to be textured, or at least have materials, and polycount preferably not above 100 000.

Hi, back home now from long holidays.
Sure I can help you but you have to give more detailed instructions. I know zero about making units so.. i suppose that you need more than picture of ship, do you mean model in some different game etc..?

Ok no probs, well it's mostly just a matter of finding a good 3d model, the rest I will handle. I will look more intensely for it later on, I am working a lot on pre dreadnought- cruisers and ww1 cruisers at the moment

That naval period in between the Ironclad era and WW1 is interesting. Wasn't there an arms race between Britain and Germany to quickly advance naval technology and build bigger and bigger and more powerful ships going on in that period?

That is quite right :) if you want peace prepare for war and so on...
