Maybe a new Moderator or 2 for OT?

Still, I think I'm going to log out in case the mods decide to nuke OT from orbit. Better safe than sorry.

Prank != spam.

Plus some threads are totally user-specific.

I didn't say that. All I said was: this always seems to happen on April 1st. It doesn't happen on other days, and as such should not be used as an argument for getting a new mod.

Although overall, I agree with you: OT does need a new mod.

As a slight update to this thread. Here is precisely the kind of thing I was referring to in this thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=6699246#post6699246

Many posters have gotten infractions and warnings for altering someones elses' quote to say something they never would. It had gotten so bad at one point that there was even an admin/mod sticky commenting on how if users continued doing it bans would occur.

Anyone else want to argue against my point?

Go ahead and ban me for it but in my opinion mods shouldn't troll threads and defend posters who spew personal insults and ignore reports. The orca whale moderator has done all 3 in the past half hour in the Off Topic

If this forum is for site feedback than this is my feedback.

EDIT: they also shouldnt MAKE troll threads directed at posters. This moderator is increasingly immature and bratty.

I'm pretty sure the warning about misquoting was in reference to people misquoting and trying to pass off the misquote as something the quoted guy actually said.

I don't think [s][/s] tags and a "fixed that for you" comment are really the problem.

I have a problem with people altering what I have said period. If he wished to make a comment himself about the Iraq war he is free to do so without altering my own post in a manner in which it appears I could have said it.

It was very clear that the statement expressed was his, not yours. I think you're overreacting. Just my opinion, I know you disagree.

You Insulted an entire nation, I think thats worse then 1 guy getting insults his way.

What part of how it begins (i.e. MobBoss posted: ) do you not seem to get?

Could he have not made his entire point without changing my quote to something I would never say?

Absolutely.

Which is the entire point.

Btw, its not just me that recognizes it either.

Look, you don't need to be a dick about it. Some of us don't have a problem understanding that the quote tag doesn't supersede the rest of the post where Rik clearly indicated that he had edited the quote.

But whatever, you and I don't need to argue about this.

And indicated what was editted as well. :)

However, if I'd known there would have been people unable to understand that the text now in my post was NOT exactly as the quoted person had typed it I might have considered (for a few seconds) to post a disclaimer that

the quote may have not been captured 100% correctly.

I have highlighted the significant word in your reply. Some =/= all. And I draw exception to using my quote in a way that would give ANYONE the impression that I said something like that.

Again, there is simply no need for him to do what he did. Especially with him being a mod. If he drew exception to my post then he could quote me as usual and then offer his own comment. But changing my quote into something I didnt say has most certainly be acted upon by mods in the past and is precisely the kind of behavior that I am referring to in this thread.

Bottom line, being a mod, Rik should simply apologize and remove the post instead of trying to defend his actions. It should be a no brainer actually.
