Meet the Modders

Good news, timerover51!

Some personal news: my computer is back onlien. No more sharing my parents' old coal-powered, horse-driven one, and I took advantage of it to get a slightly better video card. Yay!

As for the rest, timerover51 wa also right, and I keep insisting that Argentina's about to collapse. Most people just refuse to believe me because it'd mean admitting to their having voted the presidentess just to show sympathy for a widowed kleptocrat being a show of utter stupidity. But, well, we live and (don't) learn, don't we?

Son Update
It has been two and a half weeks since the surgery, and things are definitely looking much better. We saw the surgeon today, and he is quite pleased with how things are healing up. The incision is closing up from the inside noticeably, with no sign of any infection. It just looks like it will be a slow but steady healing process, with my wife and I getting very good at dressing changes. I am not sure if the moderators would appreciate a picture of the canyon being posted here, but my son has me taking a couple of new photos every night so he can see how things are going. It is a tad hard for him to see his lower back. Thanks for all of the concern shown.

And numerous :thanx: for all of the expressions of concern and support for my son, my wife, and me.

:)

Some hours ago i finished my second story with a clear Byzantine theme. This time it is about the legend of the Marble King (King Ioannes III Doucas Vatatzes who will rise to retake Constantinople) ;)

I think it turned out to be on the good side in the end...

A Byzantine theme? You, of all people?

Why do most peoples/cultures have a legend about a hero who'll come back and save us?

Not sure about other cultures, but the legend of the Marble King used to be very popular here a couple of generations before my own. It was revived by some notable monks-later-saints who wrote a few prophecies about a great war, and its happy result for this country.
It is arguably the most known urban legend here.
The variation of it i found is quite striking. I placed it in a dream, whereas in the original text it was presented as an actual experience. I also tried to give most of the focus on a symbolic explanation of the dream, but in the end this sort of collapses.

Some stories just have a couple of points that make an immediate impression.

Too bad you gave up on learning greek :)

It's a huge topic to discuss. One of reasons may be a development of European/post-European culture(s) under Christianity. Strong personalities "lowered" to be equal to weak ones (primary consumers of the "hero" legend), as time goes all people become weaker because aggressive & moving forward inner impulses cannot be released out being blocked by the public "equality" religion.

What I did recently: Trying to conquer France.
