There is a fix, but i dont it works with mods. Im BtS so far i havent recived MAF.
In TR we have more turns, but you dont have slower resarch and/or production. So you can make more units/cities/buildings in less turns that on marathon in Vanilla.
This leads to more units, cities - just call this INFO, that must be stored in memory.
I think the fix for Warlords is somewhere arround cfc. But its for 2.08 and its changes to exe file (i think). So will not work with Steam, and propabilly Civ4Gold editions.
So, you're saying that 1GB of RAM, a 2GB Swap file, and 256MB video RAM is not enough to store that "info"? I'm finding that a bit difficult to believe. When the game dumps, the most recent save (auto, manual, whatever) is also corrupted. When the game closes, it takes a long time for the memory used, to release.
"cfc"?
I think there's a memory leak, either with Civ itself, or the coding in the mod (my guess is the latter, as I never experienced the memory problems, prior).
Thanks,
Eggs
its the Mod Not the game i played Civ4 ,warlords,BtS and i never had any problems. Please help me in finding a cure has any one made it to the end with bad memory alloction?
xbeanerx, it's not even just Firaxis. Look up the error on google and you may find this great article. That article focuses on Vista gaming (where the 2GB barrier is even worse from what they say).
Basically Windows can not assign more than 2GB of ram to a single 32-bit application because of the way hardware and software (mainly operating system software) were designed so many years ago. There are programming practices, however, that can address this before it happens and that is up to the applicatin programmer to do (ie Firaxis). the TR team develop their mod as they see fit hoping for Firaxis to resolve the issue (like they have with BTS for the most part, though nobody has yet to create a mod with as much content as TR has)

well Civ is still a 32-bit app so it's not going to 100% solve your problem afaik, but that is getting beyond my knowledge of such matters.
glad to hear that. I am going to be updating to Vista x64 myself and this is great news. Please update if you run into any problems
