First off, i did a search to see if there was a post pertaining to this subject and could not find any civ 4 related topics. with that said, i will attach the error. im pretty far along in the game when the error will pop up. after i click ok it just goes to the desktop, pretty harmless. it seems to happen about every 15-20 turns and im in battle currently. i have over the recommended hardware, p4 3.0hyper, 1024 corsair, asus fx 5950ultra 256mb. after i dl the newest civ patch i had crashes to the desktop and what appeared to be a blue screen which restarted the pc, but the screen would only stay up for a sec, so it is hard to confirm a bluescreen. so i dl the latest nvidia dvr and had the same problems with ctd and rebooting errors. at this point i rolled back to previous 7189 nvidia drv. i dont get anymore ctd or the bluescreen/reboot errors, but now get the memory allocation error. any ideas.

I think this is related to saving "big" saves
Here are a few other posts about this:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=143447
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=145908

changing BreakOnAlloc = -1 to BreakOnAlloc = 0 does not prevent CTD.

Has anyone a workaround (like saving only on fresh turns)?

If some Civ developer reads this, I attached a corrupt savegame (after malloc failure), Normal savegames are about 680K. I will send you the core file if you tell me how i can tell civ to write one. Please fix this!

Edit:
Turned on logging and attached logfiles.

I am having the exact same error. Kind of hard to play a game that you can't save and might crash from any number of other reasons at any time.

I also have the same problem...anybody who will give a hand to YOUR customer?

I do not know the inner workings of Memory Management, however a Civ IV User has developed a very successfull patch dealing with the way memory is used by Civ IV. Maybe it will help this one ..... dont know, but worth checking out. The patch is simple enough to use, and simple enough to roll back if it does not solve your problem.

The developer is excellent at replying to user queries on that thread - so nip over and ask him. He is a shining light in the middle of this carnage.

I'm getting this problem now my game uses 1.6GB of RAM when I only have 1.5GB.

Hello, this message appears to me when I download a MOD from this site, at first the MOD runs normally, but a few turns later that message appears. I search information at internet and I found that the problem is this:

The computer haven't the enough RAM to runs a program (or MOD) so big or that requires very much dedication from the processor... The NORMAL Civilization Game runs normally, because the computer met all the requiremets that the game asks to run well (minimun 1.2GHz Processor, 512 MB RAM, 3.8MB Free, etc); but when we download MODS that add so much stuff to the game, it make the game bigger, and the requirements will be higher than the normal game... For example, I download the TOTAL_WAR MOD, but it is so strong and big in comparison with the normal game, that my RAM isnt sufficient strong to run it normally and keep free RAM to think in another things and programs that are running too in the computer (like messenger, or things like that) So if your processor is exactly 512MB, and the MOD make that requires a RAM higher like 1GB... the game will collapse and that message will apprear.

The Solution is to close all the running and startups programs before run Civilization's Mod; and if it doesnt fix it, buy a strong video card that upgrade the performance of your computer for games.
