Why do people want to get drunk, have sex, tell jokes, watch television, etc.

They find it enjoyable.

Not tried this drug (and gave up seriously taking drugs nearly 10 years ago) but I did have E and some pure MDMA. It was enjoyable.

Well I have never drunk a drop in my life and never will (since in Australian culture, most people drink for one purpose, just to get drunk), so is just it being enjoyable a good thing? There are plenty of things that people find enjoyable and yet they are doing harm to their bodies. While this might be harmless, it does represent a dangerous trend of people trying to find extra ways of making things more pleasurable and more enjoyable. Why can't people just enjoy the simple things in like.

like: disease, poverty, mental illness and boredom! who needs fun or technology 1950 was an excellent time, free of any pain and suffering

If people just enjoyed the simple things in life then the massive entertainment industry would be knackered.

Brain chemistry is very complicated.

What's more harmful - having a few bong hits occasionally or watching 6 hours of television a day?

The media likes hysteria anyway.

The facts are, they never took the drug, but they had been drinking and also taken methadone (a synthetic opiate, what they give you here if you register as a heroin user - apparently more addictive than heroin but it's in a syrup form so you can't inject it).

You get to have fun whilst simultaneously not worrying about all this stuff. The problem with the simple things is that much of the time you're worrying about the 'bigger' things whilst 'enjoying' the simple things.
