Mic4 - AWM

Start with the tech situation....Abe is still down Engineering so there is no chance he will be able to get Invention before we get Education.
Finding India. Looking at the numbers of cities (8), I think China is on its own island. It has been settled by both Sumeria and Byzantine. I'll back the galley and hopefully find India due south before Education. The Great Lighthouse will help.
We have 4 armies and only 4 galleys in our home waters. I'll get a few more built (one in production now) before Navigation.

Wake a slave building a road where a settler should go three from Grand River and Tegea. Pull Armies out of town. I will send the leader south to rush the Pentagon. We can build Knights Templar in three with a slight famine. I'd rather have this than face the Crusaders on the other continent.

Change Knossos to a Hoplite. At 6spt, an MP will get the other citizen working and growing.

Everything else looks good.

IBT Droman sinks a galley. One Knight dropped off at Mauch Chunk.

Attack Caesarea
8hp army loses 5 killing a reg pike.
8hp army loses 4 killing a reg pike.
Go on a limb and send the 4hp army agains a reg spear not fortified and win with 2hp, but promote the knight.
Caesarea has an aqueduct, three resistors, 3 workers, a settler and 2 droman's.

Other 2 armies head to Smyrna.

Kill a barb galley.

IBT 2nd barb galley promotes ours. Sumerians work on Sistine Chapel.

Finally meet Gandhi. He is lacking Literature and The Republic in the Ancient Age. He has a total of 5 cities. Delhi has a temple/market/colosseum. He has 4 lux and both iron and horses. Size six with a sword and 3 spears with a fourth due next turn. With nothing to extort, I declare and we are now at war with everyone.

Bump up science for Education in 2.

IBT Ephesis riots so the barrack build becomes a temple. Laast resistor on our continent calms down.

730AD-8 Palenque hoplite-->hoplite Corinth galley-->galley Rhodes worker-->library Athens Crusader. Rush library in Constantinople for 144g.

We have eight galleys in our home wateres now with 4 more due in 4 turns. Astronomy in 9 @ 126GPT for the upgrades. Eleven knights have been ferried to the jump island. The Armies and our Trebs are outside Gandasetaigon. There is a settler that can catch a boat to settle the new island or go to the Halicarnassus-Marathon island. There is a second settler due next turn.

The Game

preturn: Glad to see we did get Invention from GL. I raise sci to 70 to get Astronomy in 5 turns.

We now own the entire continent, and AI has no way to reach us.

I see some workers are mining really corrupt towns - not! Only irrigate corrupt towns and max out pop, then hire specialists.

Also some corrupt towns are working on forests - all switch to high food. There is no point in building courthouses as well.

Change things like finish granary before pop grows.

Move the 2-knight armies to the east as we'll send them to Sumeria from there.

(1)760AD: IBT America starts Sistine.

(2)770AD:

(3)780AD: Sumeria gets Education.

(4)790AD:

(5)800AD: Astronomy -> Navigation in 6 turns. I start building some explorers for pillaging purpose.

(6)810AD: rush harbor in Mauch for upgrade.

IBT Sumeria builds Sun Tzu.

(7-10): Nada.

Navigation is due next turn.

East: 3 caravals are next to Knossos ready to go. It has an army, a knight, 2 explorers and a knight. Another knight and an explorer can join next turn. These boats should land on Sumeria and pillage.

West: A few boats around Mauch. I've loaded the army and a couple units. Many knights are in Typendaga. Some galleys need upgrading. These should go to destroy Byzantines. Do not load anything into the army - it should then continue to land on American and pillage.

Tech wise then beeline to Military Tradition.

Continental invasion will begin soon.

There is some other AI we haven't met yet - better find them to lower the research cost.

What AI haven't we met? I thought India was the last one, and 6thGen mentioned meeting him. Otherwise, good turns, sounds like we are well on our way.

Mining and courthouses were to occupy the time until we become Communist eventhough this game shouldn't last that long.

Pre-turn - Cities are in good order, swap a couple of Hoplite builds to knights.

860AD - We learn Navigation -> Gunpowder in 4t at 70% and -13gpt.

3 ships on their way to Sumeria.

870AD - Sumeria starts Copernicus.

Unload some units in Sumeria.

880AD - Pillaging has begun in Sumeria.

890AD - 5 caravels are on their way to America.

900AD - We learn Gunpowder -> Chemistry in 6 turns at 60%. We have saltpeter.

910AD - LB leaves Sumerian Bad-Tibira, attack and take the city, killing 3 pikes without losses. The town is big and I hope it doesn't flip, it have harbor and barracks amongst stuff. Rename it Bad.

920AD - Land troops in America.

930AD - Take Miami with harbor and raze Philadelphia. We have a foothold on both sides of the continent, can we hold on to it?

940AD - Killed a couple of american settler pairs.

950AD - The attack against Bad starts :)

We pillage a couple of tiles in America to cut off roads to our new town. Caravels are almost home to pick up trebs.

Started to build more trebs for Bad. Starve this town down and with walls it with be a decent place. We shouldn't do any greater excursions before we have some defense in bot footholds. Especially Bad will get everything thrown at it and it will be tough to defend without trebs.

I wonder if it was such a smart move after all? :mischief:

Metallurgy due in 5 turns and after MT we can relax research for a while and upgrade stuff and hurry other.

In hindsight, maybe I should've built more defensive, but you know me...

Flip is the only thing I worry. Also the hoplites should be upgraded to muskets?

In the future, I'd like some settlers along with the boat and raze the AI cities.

Well, I could've spent most of my turnset, finding a settler to send over there. It was you that handed over the game to me, so you should've thought of that, right? :)

When I got the units over there and saw the harbor I thought it was worth a chance. We take on the initial assault and raze the 2 cities close by and the fliprisk will by much less.

Sumeria's culture is about 1/3 better than ours,. so it's about RNG here :)

We can turn down research for a bit so those Hoplites get upgraded, I just continued on the research-path at max possible. Cavs will do wonders.

I indeed didn't expect anything more than pillaging. :)

Pillaging is a waste of time if there's a chance to do something like a stronghold.

But, you're right. I read back and: "These boats should land on Sumeria and pillage."

I got carried away. :) So let's hope it works, I've done this a couple of times before and it worked fine, even with another civ having ALOT more culture. But it is a gamble and we would hurt losing all those units in Bad.

If we get some defense over there soon, the AI will suicide their units against our walls, well "walls" when we have them.

PreTurn: Kill 2 longbows.

960AD: Kill 1 pike, 2 longbows, 2 spears, 1 warrior, 1 horse, 2 archer. Lose 1 knight, gain 1 leader - army.

IBT: Kill 1 longbow.

970AD: Kill 4 longbows, 2 spears, 1 horse, 2 archer. Washington razed.

IBT: Kill 2 longbows.

980AD: Kill 1 pike, 2 longbows, 1 horse.

IBT: Kill 7 ACs. Lose 1 army, 2 hoplites, 2 knights.

990AD: Kill 4 ACs. Lose 1 knight.

IBT: Kill 1 archer. Metallurgy - Military Tradition.

1000AD: Kill 1 knight.

IBT: Lose 1 knight.

1010AD: Kill 1 MDI.

IBT: --

1020AD: Kill 4 spears, 1 MDI. Chicago and New York razed.

IBT: ---

1030AD: Kill 1 MDI and gain a leader - army.

IBT: ---

1040AD: Kill 4 spears and raze Atlanta.

IBT: Kill 2 ACs, 1 longbow. Lose 1 knight, 1 musket, 1 crusader.

1050AD: Kill 5 spears, 2 knights. Lose 1 knight. Raze Bosten and San Francisco. Gain a leader - army.

Sumerian front: the 1st wave of attackers is defeated. Sumeria shows many knights now. I planned to take Erech and then turn to the main Sumerian lands.
American front: only obsoletes show (archers, spears, horses and warriors). Every knight army can raze a town on it's own (the ne has some trebs).
Military tradition comes in next turn. We have to upgrade trebs, hoplites and knights then. I could not save an empty army. We need to unite our fronts fast.
