Michigan vs. App State.

wow uuuummm.... that was one of the best explanation ever. so in a season of 12 games you can play more games at home than being the visitor?

and also I dont get that : but not so close that it will hurt your recruiting if you don't beat them as you should. For example, Alabama typically plays 'have not' schools from Louisiana and Tennessee, states that are very close to Alabama but that they do not typically recruit heavily

i mean players playing on the field are already part of their respecting teams ! and why a lost means more difficulty to recruit ?

I don't understand a word of this.

A loss makes your program appear weak and less appealing to enroll in. This effect is compounded when you lose to a close-by team, because those kids that would be enrolling into your program, after seeing you lose to a close neighbor, would tend more to go to that other program, losing you potential players in the future.

The Big House is probably the quietest big stadium in the nation too...whats with that? That place just doesn't rock like it should sometimes.

Appy wasn't very intimidated.

If they had won, it still would have been a knock against them in the BCS at season's end.

I'm pretty sure 1-AA teams' don't factor into strength of schedule, I could be wrong though. All big programs do the same thing though, so it wouldn't have hurt there SOS more than anyone else, plus they play in a power conference.

I-AA did factor into SOS when it was part of the BCS (however only their record against I-A teams would be counted, so they would be considered a real black mark), but now SOS has been taken out of the BCS formula altogether. The only time this comes up is when voters independently calculate SOS in their minds.

People have to remember that I-AA doesn't mean no talent @ 10 years ago an I-AA powerhouse moved up to I-A--Marshall. With players like Randy Moss & Chad Pennington and an incoming frosh Byron Leftwich.

Clearly...but look at the average scores of games between top 25 division I-A teams and division I-AA teams. Michigan losing is inexcusable, no matter what Lou Holtz says.

So, do you think anyone in Div. I-A is going to schedule a cupcake game against Appalachian State in '08?

:)

App. State has games scheduled with 1-A teams for the next few years already. I know LSU is one of them, and they said they intend to honor their contract.
