Apparently notch, the creator of Minecraft, will be holding a small MinecraftCon in Bellevue. :)

I'm going! And I might make a foam core head of your Minecraft avatar to show off there and wear at PAX 2010 :)

EDIT: Which I did make!

Why thank you!

Thanks. I even took it to that impromptu Minecraft convention in downtown Bellevue with Notch himself. Someone even came as a creeper and we did a little scene! It held up better than I expected against the drizzle and the rain. I thought there'd be some ink dripping off but it held. I'm gonna go all out with my costume when PAX comes along and hopefully I'll show up on Kotaku. :D

So minecraft's sold over 100,000 copies now. Notch has made well over a million euro already, and he's getting 3-4 thousand more signups per day.

At the mini convention, he mentioned he was taking the money and investing it into a company with full time employees.

It'd make sense to do that. There's so much more that Minecraft could be if there were several full-time employees working on it.

As a side note, someone on Reddit calculated that Notch would end up keeping about 45% of all the income after taxes and fees. 500,000 euro is still nothing to laugh at.

/me goes off to make his own awesome game.

Heeeey that is me! :D

Man I had no idea that bacon guy was behind me! When you have a box on your head with only two 1 square inch holes as your only link to the outside world, it's hard to look around you.

You should have had white pupils so you could have been him.

I was playing this and I really can't figure out two things. Why this game runs like crap when it shouldn't (poor programming) and why it's so fun? I seriously was hoping it would be more Dwarf Fortress-y but I am sorely disappointed by this. If you die you lose all your stuff and it seems highly pointless.

That's the point. It's completely open-ended.

Update Java and your Video drivers. If you're on OSX or Linux, you will have to deal with the slowness because Notch develops primarily for the Windows JVM.

also set the draw distance lower by hitting the F key

The game "runs like crap" because of the cubes. The six-sided cubes. It has to load each side (or had to... maybe he fixed that)
