Minecraft

Tried it out, really liked the new terrain generation! Real cool to see definable regions of plains and forest with a clear river separating them.

I kept restarting until I got an island in the ocean with a tree on it. Loving the new biome generation, though I'm dissapointed that I've yet to see an enderman or melons. Though I did dig a mineshaft straight down from my base and coincidentally enough had it go straight into an abandoned mine. :ack:
What seed is it?

Also, this crashing thing after putting things in ovens is really annoying.

Seems a quick fix is to replace the zz.class file. However, I'm not sure if that's going to break anything... (like new smelt-able items or something - like cooking stackable items)

You can only find melon seeds in abandoned mines.

They have abandoned mines?

Like, epic awesome dwarven style mines or more similar to caves? Can I have some pics? :)

they're wood support beam things with mine cart tracks, and they're huge!

Anyone have any idea what time Minecraft will update?

That was the last tentative date. @Jeb_ tweeted about an hour ago after their monday meeting that "Ok the current status of 1.8 is that I'm trying to fix the reported bugs of pre-1.8. It's hard to say how long time this will take" ... Hopefully it's quick.

Yah 1.8 is pushed back a bit. Here is what jeb_ fixed today

Code:
    * SSP chunk memory leak
    * Mineshaft density (half now)
    * Increased stronghold count to 3 per map instead of one
    * Furnace tile entity crash
    * Crafting bench ghost items
    * Vines (and leaves) crash in nether
    * Use item animation in SMP (blocking and eating)
    * Blocking in SMP
    * Sprinting with right-click or sneaking
    * Added some blocks to creative mode
    * Fixed dropping items
    * Nothing can be eaten in creative mode
    * Enderman client-side problems
    * Chicken and cow drop burned food
    * Squids drop exp
    * 1.7 worlds should get structures
    * Farmlands rejecting melon and pumpkin seeds
    * Bonemeal on melons and pumpkins
    * Bonemeal on mushroom only works on dirt or grass
    * Added item drops for cracked and mossy smooth stone brick
    * Adjusted fog strength at low positions

Edit: jeb is not releasing anything today, but tomorrow he plans to at least update the prerelease

Damn (fivechar)

I'm happy for the delay, gives us a chance to get Chunky out the door :D

Also, they have always said they needed a couple weeks after pax to incorporate suggestions they liked. Considering the magnitude of changes for 1.8 I'm cutting them a little slack.

That's what I'm thinking. I put off the pre-release because I figured it would be out today. Hopefully it will be out by next weekend.

Next weekend? Blah...

Least I still have RO2 tomorrow. :D

I'm hopeful, but I doubt it. My buddies from way back are hosting a server that we were planning to start soon, but now it just keeps getting pushed back.

Glad they are fixing the memory leaks and furnace bugs, though. That would be annoying.

Oddly enough the thing that excites me the most is the inevitable water content mods(better boats, docks, etc)

I'd really like an island/small continent map. I think building along rivers is also going to be a critical big deal too for general navigation

Oceans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited. They are too island-y but oh well, ocean!
