Minor Suggestions Thread

Yes, those are the resources I was wondering about. Couldn't a city site be added that can actually use them though? It always looked a bit random to me...

On another note, does anyone agree/disagree with my other suggestions?

Qin Shi Huang's preferred religion should probably be changed to Confucianism (right now it's Taoism). I think that's why AI China often adopts Taoism when Confucianism and Taoism are about balanced.

But I thought that in Qin's reign he killed Confucians?

He suppressed Confucianism...

There's no Legalism in the game so Taoism is better than him preferring anything else really.

Qin was Legalist more than anything else, and Legalism really is the opposite of Confucianism.
It depends on whether you want to do it by the actual leader(head), or by the era of the civilization. Most dynasties after the Qin dynasty embraced Confucianism, if I remember correctly. But if you want to do it by leaderhead - I'd say "no religion" would be the best, but I'm not sure how that'd work out.

Qin himself wasn't a Confucianist, but he was only the emperor for a little while. He's the leaderhead until the Renaissance, and between the unification of China (221 B. C.) and whenever Ming Taizu becomes the leaderhead, the Chinese state was nearly always Confucian.

Not only was it Confucian, it took on several aspects of a theocracy when dealing with the expansion of Buddhism during the middle dynasties. Like in the middle east, the arrival of the Mongols actually (temporarily) liberated a lot of people from religious oppression.

I would like to suggest making forbidden palace require 8 courthouses to build so that civs can only build it if they have a reasonably large empire to stop the French building it in Bordeaux as often and so we might be able to see the AI actually build it in semi-reasonable places like South Africa or the Americas. This might also give china a reasonable shot at getting it (as it is their wonder).

8 is enough. heh

6 is probably better, let's meet at 7 and go for drinks.

As a side, it might be nice if both palaces can't be built in that civs start area, probably smarter AI will be forced to edumacate itself and build off continent. :)

I chose 8 because IIRC thats the number of buildings other wonders need (like the stock exchange). 6 is better than none though, so I wouldn't complain if 6 was used.

Also, I would like to suggest (again) that in the espionage screen you be allowed to allocate espionage against your own civilization, adding a small modifier to the cost of opponents espionage missions and adding a bonus to your stability.

I believe this to be important to add as I think the game needs a conscious way to effect your own stability.

That would effectively be putting money into stability as people would spend more money on espionage. That seems highly capable of being abused.

I would like to see the possibility to show only one resource on the map, eg when you have researched the tech for coal, then eg. Ctrl + r + c (coal) to show you where the coal is.

I don't remember if I already suggested this in this thread, but I believe that at least the unofficial patch, if not betterAI, would be a welcome inclusion.

Anyway, seeing once again someone posting about a world with very few christian and jewish cities, I thought that, as it is designed with barbarians and stuffs, the mod is pretty unfait to both of these religions, whose holy city get burned to the ground much more often than the others.

As such, how about adding the modcomp reallocating the holy city of a religion if it is razed? Could perhaps tweak it to reallocate the holy city not too far away, and/or only with a certain percentage of chances. That way, we could have a city in Egypt become the holy city of judaism if Jerusalem if razed, or another city in Europe becoming the holy city of Chritianity if the old roman holy city is burnt; what do you think ?
