Minor Suggestions Thread

I am relatively certain the UHV is not broken. Did you make sure you did not accidentally miss one? Sometimes it can get slightly confusing working with fifteen buildings, especially if you need to take brakes in between. I have recently been able to beat the UHV on the newest patch. Could you post the save?

I don't have the save, BTW I check to make sure I had 5 by looking in statistics, which says how many you have built,

Do you have the latest patch?

Dragging the thread back to a previous topic, I think Japan on the 600 AD start should get a Buddhist Missionary, though not on the 3000 BC start. I find far more often than not I end up with Confucianism being the first religion I get, which is great for relations with China, but not historical.

Having recently discovered the nature of vassals in this mod and how they don't count to UHV goals, I have a suggestion.

Make capitulated civs count, but not vassalised ones. This would make capitulated civs more like puppet states.
Perhaps also make capitulation a little more similar to permanent alliances in that tech research is mutual (or at least to the benefit of the conqueror), although they would still be able to get out of capitulation in the same way vassalage is gotten out of now.

Note: This may not be the best topic for this since these changes wouldn't exactly be minor.

I still think Amsterdam is growing to fast. Maybe letting the wheat recource appear around 1500 would be better. Maybe doing the same with the fish or clam would be a good idea. The Netherlands became a stong power only after the 1500's.

does anyone know how to change it so the British build Philadelphia instead of NYC?

Here are a few important cities I think either don't get seen at all in a typical RFC game or do get settled but are far smaller than they should be:

Baghdad - I'd love it if Babylon was changed to Baghdad after Arabia spawn or after a certain time period, like Mediolanum into Milan

Mumbai - often doesn't get settled and when it does far too small.

Mexico City - Too small for being one of the largest cities in the world both in the height of Aztec power and in modern times.

St. Petersburg - Russia AI has had a tendency to found Novgorod or some other city instead of it. I regard St. Petersburg has having an enormous impact on Russian history, even being its capital at certain points, and for me it is a "must-settle" city for Russia. If Germany manages to settle the area it should be a de-facto declaration of war against Russia, especially after 1700.

I don't like seeing early St. Petersburg. Seeing that city in the early Middle Ages always bugs me. As to the history, while Russia did have the place of St. Petersburg (the mouth of Neva) under control in some periods of her history, she had to fight with Sweden for that territory before founding it.

I used to see Sweden(vikings) and Russia fighting over this land all the time.

But it never seems to happen anymore.

If anything its the Germans and the Russians.

True, but then again if RFC were a perfect historical simulation Germany and Spain would have much more difficult time unifying their countries and not have the lands they do in the early middle ages.

My experience has been if Russia doesn't found St. Petersburg, the Germans usually settle it and AI Russia is content with going east and ignoring the west which I think is a bigger problem than the city not being founded at the precise historical date it should be.

than the city not being founded at the precise historical date it should be.

It's not the city, it's the name. And I agree that the Scandinavians should be more active there. Then again, the Teutonic Order did have some fights with Russia too in the Baltics.

California needs a fish above the clams resource, probably should put flood plains on the fish, it would also help SF represent the 50 million of the tiles it cover
BTW where does that wine represent?

California has a big wine industry, right? It seems wrong if it's located in the desert mountains, though.

yes it does, IN NAPA! which is the grassland with nothing on it just above the cows... so yes, relocate the wine, (I wish California was bigger to cram more resources in)
