MM10: Gandhi’s Mad Science. (0%-Science)

I've got it.

so sorry - I have played, but left the save at home this morning (i usually post from work - home is on dial up) I will post the save and the (very boring) report around 6 pm eastern.

Nothing really to report - built stuff and improved our lands. We have a Great Engineer who can learn Metal Casting. I moved him to Djenne and just started building the Forbidden Palace there. I would rush the Forbidden Palace as it would improve our economy and allow us to undertake another "war of expansion" much sooner.

The save is attached. nothing really to add - but here is the turn log for the record.

Turn 210 (800 AD)

First of all, I thought autologger was going to work. It didn't and it was my fault. So I didn't take the best of notes.

Key Takeaways
I switched on of our coastal cities from a theater to the Great Lighthouse. We may just get it. We need the trade routes, or the gold if we don't get it, more than we need a theatre there.

Minor adjustments to some cities. Build cattys

War with American went well. I was bitter that they razed Philly, but I got our settler there to settle Essen. Plus, Toko attacked washington but didn't take it, but we did, with minimal losses. We now have two cities past toko, and were laying siege to Boston, until CATHERINE~! declared war on us. She has a chariot and a warrior near essen, so we may want to pull the axe defending the chopping worker at essen for city defense, all we have is 1 sword there.

We may want to declare peace on washington and get toko to declare peace, then declare war on catherine. Toko does not have open borders with Catherine, so she cannot reach our main cities. WE MUST HOLD OUR NEW CITIES AT ALL COSTS...MILITARY BUILD NEXT TURN

Most units left unpromoted. Be ware there is a russian axe and chariot in the woods east of boston, shrouded in fog right now.

I may have left a path or two active for cattys to go to new york. Be advised.

Got it , il try to get it played somewhere tomorrow when i can find a hole in my schedule.

Sorry didnt find a hole yesterday , had to work till 11pm and didnt had the energy to start up the SG , il get to it tonight.

Turn 0 800AD:
Why are we building markets and courthouses all over?
We dont need money for anything else then upgrading some troops.
The only way for us to get better research is so grow and capture more city's so we can hire more scientist so we need army!

We only get 1 happy for the market and we arent in need of happy faces.
We have had construction for like 20/30 turns yet we dont have a single catapults build , we have way to many swords with upgrades dont dont really suit them aswell.

Change a lot of infra builds and MM a lot of city's from commerce to growth/hammers.
Plan is to go attack Ghandi and beat some techs out of his skinny ass :hammer:
We are running behind in techs.
We still got no religion , i suggest we start spreading confusionism soon.
I use the engineer to rush the forbidden palace in Djenna as suggested.

Turn 1 810AD:
Paris : market > catapult
Djenna : forbidden palace > catapult

Turn 2 820AD:
Pasargadea : archer > catapult
Mansu completes the hanging gardens.

Turn 3 830AD:

Turn 4 840AD:
Orleans : catapult > catapult

Turn 5 850AD:
Paris : catapult > catapult
Tarsus : catapult > catapult
Timbuktu : barrack > heroic epic
Our troops are in place to start attacking Ghandi , i wait for a few catapults first though.
We just lost 2 tiles of Timbuktu to the cultural pressure coming from Mansu.

Turn 6 860AD:
Persepolis : catapult > catapult
Djenne : catapult > catapult

Turn 7 870AD:
Civil Service > Metal Casting
Trade CS for feudalism +20g with Saladin.
We can get Philosophy from Ghandi for CS + 560gold.
I dont do it though , he might already have machinery and i dont wanna end up fighting swords vs maces + longbows cause thats pretty much all we have in our army.
Orleans : catapult > war elephant
Arbela : walls > catapult
Whip granery in Rheims

Turn 8 880AD:
Paris : catapult > LB
Rheims : granery > lighthouse
Revolt to vassalage
We lost 2 more tiles at Timbuktu , change of plans the cultural pressure is to big we gotta kill Mansu.

Turn 9 890AD:

Turn 10 900AD:
Tarsus : catapult > LB
Pasargadea : catapult > catapult
Susa : confusion monestry > confusion missionary

Our troops are in place to go invade Mansu , I would suggest to go for Kumbi Saleh first since the cultural pressure is coming from there.
Our tech status is pretty bad , we are down 5 techs on Hatshepsut and to make it worse Isabella and Saladin wont trade with us cause they fear we are getting to advanced.
Our city's arent defended very well neither so be carefull , started some LB's to send to the border city's.

Turn 0 (900): Move troops closer to front. Invade Mansa. Hit his capital in 4 turns.

Turn 1 (910): Moved more troops.

Turn 2 (920): Heron born in Paris. He sleeps. Saw poor defenses in both Mansa cities.

A bit better but soon to be dead

Turn 3 (930): Sword kills a skirm in the open for a promo.

Turn 4 (940): Spotted enemy reinforcements. It's now or never. Defenses at 30% but have to risk it.

Suicided a cata and severely wounding the longbow. Our sword kills longbow 4.9/6, our axes kills spear 2.2/5. We capture Gao for 143 gold. They must have came from Walata. Reinforced Gao with 2 additional swords to prevent counterattack.

Turn 5 (950): IBT the two skirms and 1 sword died against our two swords. Our swords had a close call but are now 1.3/6 and 1.2/6. Metal Casting came in. I burned our engineer on machinery and started on engineering. Machinery nets us maces and xbows now. Engineering will make future mobilizations easier.

Forges going up all over France.

Suicided three catapults into Kumbi Saleh and then swords went in for (6/6, 4.1, 3.6, 4.8, 5.2) It's ours. We have some killer swords now. Massive upgrading across the board to maces.

Turn 6 (960): I declared war on Ghandi. He doesn't like us for killing his friends. Mansa is almost dead so I think he's next.

Turn 7 (970): Troops moving and ready to attack an Indian city soon.

Turn 8 (980): Suicided 1 catapult and then razed Bombay with 3 maces (4.8, 5.0, 4.9) against 2 longbows and a spear.

Turn 9 (990): More troops moves.

Turn 10 (1000): One army group ready to deal the coup de grace to Mansa. The other is ready to attack Delhi. Mansa may give our mace and cats severe casaulties.

My fault for not moving them with the eles. I thought that maybe I could get in an extra turn of bombardment this way.

Next person should be able to kill Mansa and take over most of India. We may then take out Saladin to consolidate and then turn to our friends the Eggy.

We now have a huge mace and pult force backed by eles.

I also spread confucianism around and built a lot of forges and farms. I let the cities grow a bit. Next person may want to add quite a few scientists. Hatty is willing to give us Philosophy for machinery and 190 gold. Is it worth it to you guys? I turned her down. We will fight her in the near future and xbows are the counter to maces we have.

It's my turn. Received. If not today, tomorrow. Should be today.

I wont trade with hatty.

I will put in some science, and after destroying mansa, shift all armies to the indian front.

Death is coming...

Oh, that was fun.

Key Takeaways
Micromanaged some, and built forges/markets etc. Gold is very nice!
Mansa is NO MORE!
Took Gandhi's first, second, and third capitals. He took Gao for one turn. His whole army was almost beaten by two macemen. Nice sneak attack though.

Forces are converging on gandhi...Saved promotions.

Egyptian soothsayers say there is a wandering spearmen from our civilization lost in their borders. Little do they know that we're mapping them out!

Sweet. The question is whether to fight Hatty or Saladin first. We may very well be able to trip domination limit if we conquer Hatty but Saladin is pretty much in our rear.

Looking good. . . .
