mm11: Persian Pandemonium AWN 1CC

Hmm, played some really :smoke: turns, I deeply apologize.

Popped a Great Engineer in 520 AD and joined him in Persepolis. Could have granted us Machinery but, eh, no Iron.

Smart move by Washington (at least, against a pityful opponont like me ) :
Axe & Archer leave Washington, for no apparent reason.
Then the Spear fortified on the cow East of Washington begins to whack our Immortals, taking next to no damage.
Axe & Archer leave our sight, since they always moved in forest tiles, I didn't take the risk.
Spearman takes another Immortal, but is wounded in open terrain. I try to wipe him, no luck.
Next turn, an archer left Washington to finish our suppressing forces here.

Meanwhile, no luck either at Atlanta, but only one Immortal lost, the others retreated. I was really expecting to finish it off...

Finally, on my last turn, I notice some new american borders where New York was. Did he already have a Settler in Washington while we were sieging it ? Anyway there was not much to be done against the Spear

On Mansa's side, nothing much. He just kept building Skirmishers and trying to kill our Immortals with them. I said trying ;)

On the bright side, we now have several cats, but it will take some turns to bring them all to Mansa.
I would recommend to raze the newly founded american cities, bringing us back to status quo, then showing Mansa our new toys :mischief:

Ah, some bad luck and some oversight, it does happen. I think I am partly at fault too, it was I who parked the immortal right south of the spear to see what is going on in Washington, forgeting to warn you that the spear might kill that immortal ...

In any case, with catapults into the picture, we should be able to really seriously taking out the Yankees. Cats has base strength 5, equivalent of the axeman.

But why bother moving our cats all the way east to take out the americans first then back to take out Mansa? I think the fastest approach will be for us to first move some immortals at Mali to reinforce the suppression of the Americans, while the cats arrive at Mansa's cities.

Americans should not be able to built spears ... unless they rehooked the copper?

Auto-Skip Notice

Please skip me if I am UP on the 19th (US time). From 20th - 23th, I may still be able to play at night (US time) depending on whether I would be wide awake due to jet-lag. So, during the next week if I don't post a got-it, next player please auto-skip me whenever you are ready to play. I will lose Internet access on Friday, and flying back Friday night, so definitely a skip if I'm up on 24th and 25th (assuming Mansa or Yankess can survive that long ... :)).

OK I believe Eggs is UP.

On top of being busy my router died too now, leaving me with limited internet access. Skip me at least for this week please :(.

610: Moving cats. Move to take Chicago new city defended by only archer.

620: Loose imm on defense to ax but take him out. Loose imm to spear on defense and take him out. 2 less metal units to worry about. I really don’t like that level 4 spear in Atlanta. Take out the city of big shoulders which was defended by only 1 archer.

630-640: Moving cats

650: I stupidly left an injured imm w/o cover and lost him. Cats bombarding Djenne.

680: Take Djenne at the cost of 3 cats and an immortal. It was a heavy price and I barely took it. Those skirmishers are a pain and it was on a hill.

740: Kumbi Salia Falls for the loss of 1 cat and 1 immortal.

780: Tumbuktu falls at the loss of 1 cat and 1 immortal. Mansu is no more.

800:Moving and healing. This is in the bag. A line of troops is on the way and it is just a matter of time. We are churning out immortals in 1 turn.

I decided to play 20 as we are running out of players and it is almost over. Whoever is free can grab it and finish it up. Should be over in less than 20. It was fun. The immortal is really quite powerful. I'm thinking of trying this at Prince with Huayan.

Game finished. In 10 turns. Mostly spent on moving troops. Did try to build the Colossus, but it need 15 turns :crazyeye:

After Game Thoughts

The Immortals were powerful -- their inbuilt bonus against archers made them especially suitable for supression duties. However, they are not as powerful as the keshiks, which is both faster and stronger. The immortals alone could not finish the game without catapults support. It does however allows us to suprress the AI until we learn Construction at our own leisure.

Nice :), too bad I wasn't too much help but it was still fun to be a part of this kind of game.
