mm18: Incan Warlords AWM

Assembly line in in 1856, start constructing factories/coalplants/jails. Research will head towards artillery.

I realise we need to capture and hold a city in order to upgrade our troops. Athens seems as good a place to do this as any since it is on a hill, so I capture it then move most of our reinforcements there and mass upgrade all the rifles to infantry.

Alex counterattacks with a few trebs and a lot of cavalry. Not sure how he still has this many after the war's been going on a while. Hatshepsut sends some trebs, cavalry and chariots too, but our defences hold. Nothing from Peter yet. I promoted a few guerilla 3 units to attack enemy stacks sitting on the hill SE of Athens and there's a knight I've been using to kill trebs in the hope of getting it up to commando.

As a result of the fighting we got another general which I added to Cuzco so that it will have 17 xp when we build pentagon. Once cuzco completed its factory and coal plant I revolted to free speech since it is able to build 1 turn infantry still.

Razed a couple more Greek coastal cities with late arriving troops. After defeating some Greek and Egyptian stacks I figured it should be safe to go on the offensive again and I sent out a stack to look for more Greek cities. I found Sparta, but there's a surprisingly large number of units in it still and a Russian stack nearby so I'm not too optimistic about their chances.

Most of our galleons are parked near Cuzco waiting for more troops to be trained since I built mainly infrastructure. Culture slider is on 10%, we needed those factories, jails, and so on.

Played 10.

Press Enter, and our Sparta stack gets ripped apart. Alex kills 3 infantry and weakens everyone else on first attack. I decide to move it back to save the units we have left.. Next turn, Alex and Peter attack with alot of cavalry and kill the whole stack. War weariness now up to +6 in cities without jails.

1874 - Artillery in. Start artillery in alot of cities. 1878, we get an engineer. I send him to Cuzco, maximize hammers, and rush 900 hammers of pentagon with him. With max hammers, remaining will be built in 3 turns. After Artillery, set research to electricity on path to tanks. 1882 Artillery comes in, next turn Pentagon complete.

We now have 17 xp units out of cuzco per turn, and all other cities produce 5 xp units. :goodjob: Other than that, just continued what Uberfish was doing. Built alot of coal plants + jails. Athens will slowly starve down to size 1, but we are not losing any units which attempt to attack it. Ive also been able to keep that hill road intact since they cant pillage it in 1 turn. Industrialism due in 2 turns. I think we can start beating up the AI more significantly once we have a nice little tank + artillery stack down there :). The artillery part of it is already set up.

Save:

We have quite a load of infantry waiting at Cuzco that I load up and start the 5 turn voyage. Indust. in 2 and tanks should take care of this nicely. I will turn off research and revolt to US when this comes in.

1892: Upgrade all cannon in Athens. A few things complete basically switch to all military. Tanks in 1 turn.

1894: Damn we didn't have combustion or oil. OK combustion it is in 4. Also start some settlers for filling space. Our new arty in Athens gets some target practice taking out a stack of mixed rifles and cav/knight w/o loss.

1896: We get an artist and now have a GA available. I will wait until we are in Democracy to start.

1898: I decide to send some troops out of Athens. No point just sitting there.

1900: Fresh troops arrive to start a second front. Lots of workers waiting on the oil. I think they know the plans for something called an oil well are coming. transports will be nice. BTW I notice Hatty has combustion so we will need to upgrade our Navy urgently.

1902: OK combustion is in. Oil well done. Tanks under production. Upgrade 5 galleon and 2 frigates. Research set to Fascism for Mt. Rush. Research ->0. Revolt to US.

1904: We are in US. Start GA. Moving troops. Lux up to 30%

1906: Troops in place around Argos and Byblos.

1908: Agros and Bylbos captured losing 1 arty. Woa Alex lands 3 Cav next to an undefended city on our continent that I barely saw. Lucky it was only 3 lone cavs. Adjust troops to protect.

1910: Tanks crush invading Cavs. Fresh Marines and infantry hit the beach on the other continent. Tanks are building up at Cuzco.

Next few players should have some fun. I don;t expect to see this again. We are in a GA cranking tanks. We are still only 52% land area but there is some open land to settle and we can rush theaters/terrace. With tanks and arty we should make short work of it. Argos requires 11 turns of resistance. It might be faster to raze and replace and rush theater. Well good luck. It was fun and the early going was a bit dicey. Cuzco was a really fun city to play with, What a powerhouse. It is now producing 17XP tanks 1/turn.

Great game guys. Looks like uberfish will be the one to finish it off ;).

I think we played this very well overall.

too bad i can't play now. looks like fun set of turns is coming.
wish i took civ cd with me (and send wife somehwere for couple hours)
we might up the science to get fascism for free GG (unless someone already took it)

Since we're down to 4 right now anyway, I don't mind waiting for Werdna to be able to play again if it's only a short while. If you'd rather skip just let us know :)

just play it,if you don't finish it in10 turns, i'll be able to play monday evening.

1910 - Load tanks into transports, end turn. We get attacked at Athens, I can't believe the AI has that many units left, but we hold the city

1912 - Capture Pi with our artillery stack

1914 - Capture Knossos with our infantry/grenadier stack

1916 - the Marines reach Memphis and take it. The first tanks arrive to join the artillery now heading towards Sparta. Will research fascism in the last two turns of our golden age

1918 - Egypt upgrades to infantry, so I drop the marines on land first to cover the artillery before attacking Thebes. On a side note managing these supply lines is irritating.

1920 - start Rushmore somewhere random. Thebes falls. We have another GG (which I ship to the new continent to make a warlord for fun) and prophet which I don't bother to do anything with

1924 - Rushmore done. Alexandria captured, but on the computer turn an Egyptian treb throws a large rock which lands on our capturing tank and smashes it. Egypt gets a great general as a result in Heliopolis. Hehe.

1925 - destroy the offending treb. Capture Heliopolis, I guess that great general wasn't too smart since he built a military academy there.

We are at 61% land and will win shortly, lots of tanks around for Werdna to have fun with and finish the game. I didn't do the raze-and-refound thing, I just don't like razing old built up cities if I don't have to. This is Civilization after all.

Didn't get to play much.
First I moved our culture to 80% (from 30%)
and moved couple units that weren't moved.
Press Enter
turn 1: captured capital of egypt and move onto some more cities
Press Enter
we get attacked and lose several units (due to russian artilery, others have medieval units only)
... and game over

:goodjob: guys, unfortunately, couldn't play alog in the end

so, do you guys think that AW is better in warlords than vanilla?

Well played game all.

Yeah, I think AW is a lot more fun in warlords than vanilla, the WW seems to be reduced (I am shocked we could get away with 30% culture in the end) and the GGs make it less of a grind since you are getting something out of killing the endless hordes of enemy units. It is technically easier, but playing with more difficult map types and settings balances that.
