Mobilistation

I realize this is an OLD thread, but I feel action on the part of the moderators or the original author should be taken. The point is not made until almost the last post here, and even then is not made clear. The point that needs to be made is:

You LOSE ALL IN-PROCESS CONSTRUCTION (including wonders) when you shift to mobilization

This could consist of hundreds or even thousands of lost shields!!

Although you appear to be able to continue them when you first push the button, when you end turn, ALL "non-military" construction is immediately shifted to military units (of the governors choice) .. to change these youi have to go to each city and change to the unit you wish.

I believe this should be added to the Academy article in the "cons" paragraph.

Thanks to all.

This is only true in Conquests. In previous versions the projects would complete. Catt's article was quite accurate when it was written.

YEs I don't know why they changed that. It was fine before they 'fixed' it, you should be able to finish started projects

In one of my early games I was playing vs Maya (South) Zulu (North) and America (West). I had an eternal struggle with Maya, but then the Zulu went to war, and that really ruined it for me. I struggled in my constant war with Maya, but any time the Zulu joined the fight (for a few turns usually) I REALLY struggled. The whole game went by that way, nobody really got any new territory, everyone just struggled.
Since I was just starting, I would flip through the civilopedia sometimes, trying to get a sense of this game. Mobilization really grew on me. I had a tiny tech lead, and I understood that if I got Nationalism, I could turn the game around. But I went for steam power, and replaceable parts instead. I discovered Nationalism, and the Zulu, with a mighty collection of crusaders that made me more and more concerned every five turns, declared war, yet again. I was really scared to lose one of my cities to them. It was at a REALLY high risk. Just in time, I was able to draft an infantry from each city, and railed them over to the city (and some to the Mayan border) I then mobilized.
Five turns later, I was completely secure, the attacking crusader horde was defeated. Five more turns, and Zimbabwe was mine. I couldn't have accomplished this without mobilization. The extra production made all the difference. I went back to normalcy only after the Maya were too defeated. The Americans weren't a big deal with my enormous empire.
